Chapter 137 Astonishing Discovery
That Du Yibo was so amazed was a clear sign that this time the Boss' drop exceeded expectations. However, even with mental preparation, when Du Yibo listed out the drops, Xiao Buli was still taken aback.
This time, a total of four items had dropped, and the first one was a skill book.
"Wild Beast Knowledge: Demon Realm Chapter": This is a knowledge-based book recording information on wild beasts. Using this item, you will learn how to tame beasts of the Devil Realm, requiring the prerequisite skill 'Wild Beast Knowledge'.
(What a great item! With this, I can capture a Shadow Leopard. To be honest, just from its appearance, the Shadow Leopard is quite handsome. Even if I don't use it myself, giving it to Jingci to exchange for goodwill isn't a bad idea at all.) Xiao Buli thought to himself, already setting his sights on it.
The second item was a deep blue scimitar.
Magic Steel Scimitar (One-handed Sword): Attack power 16-32.
Its attack power was higher than his silver-quality weapon Blood Drink, but it didn't come with any special effects, making it seem a bit lackluster. However, it should still be worth some money.
The third item was a pair of deep blue boots.
Shadow Sprint Boots: Armor +6, Movement Speed +3, Equipment effect: Your footsteps will no longer make a sound, reducing the chance of being detected while invisible.
Equipment that increases movement speed is practical, and the effect that reduces the chance of being detected while invisible is very useful. Strictly speaking, this should be considered top-tier gear for professions like assassins or thieves. Although Xiao Buli's career path was special, requiring speed and invisibility skills, it was something he could equip as well.
However, as nice as the above three items were, to say they were exciting would be an exaggeration. What truly made both of them covetous was the fourth piece of equipment.
The fourth piece of equipment was a light blue item, but its special design and attributes made both of them widen their eyes.
Obsidian Panther Spirit Statue (Magical Treasure): Use to summon a Shadow Panther Spirit to fight for you, lasting 30 minutes, with a cooldown of 24 hours.
Item Description: This is a lifelike statue of a black panther, seemingly imbued with some kind of magical spell, radiating a faint mysterious aura.
Both had experienced the combat capabilities of the Shadow Leopard - not too strong but not weak either, and it had Stealth Skills. If used effectively, it could be quite a significant force. Most importantly, it didn't count towards the Taming Skills level, nor did it take up a slot in the equipment or consume mana. It was entirely an extra combat power, which greatly enhanced its value.
Moreover, its category was a Magical Treasure, a type of item that neither Xiao Buli nor Du Yibo had ever seen before. It could even be said that if the Green Dragon Group still needed to offer tributes this month, this item alone could be presented as a tribute.
Du Yibo almost immediately took a fancy to it, "I just want this statue, and you can have the rest. How about that - three items for one, I'm giving you a great deal."
Xiao Buli laughed and said, "Forget it, I can't afford such a 'bargain.' You keep those three items; I just want this statue."
"You can't say that. I just saved your life. Can't you make this small concession?" Seeing that Xiao Buli was hard to fool, Du Yibo outright played the sympathy card.
"Seems to me I saved you first. There are no brothers in the face of gear; don't pull that on me, or we might as well just ROLL for it."
"ROLL it is then, who's afraid? I have 12 Luck," Du Yibo said arrogantly.
Xiao Buli also declared, "I have 15 Luck, who's afraid?"

"15 Luck? Who are you kidding!" Du Yibo definitively didn't believe it.
Xiao Buli immediately shared the attributes of the Tomb Raider's Talisman and the Flawless White Jade Ring, two pieces of Luck-increasing gear. Once they were revealed, Du Yibo was stunned; the two pieces of equipment added 3.5 Luck Value. If Xiao Buli's Luck was just slightly higher than the average person's, then reaching a full 15 Luck wasn't far-fetched.
Even if his Luck was only the average 10 points, the additional 3.5 Luck meant he would still beat him, making it likely he wouldn't win in a ROLL. He suddenly hesitated.
However, Xiao Buli decided to stop while he was ahead. His base Luck Value was a mere 7 points, and he never rolled over 20 before. Now it had improved somewhat but was still just average. He then offered, "How about this, I have a Fire Source Ring here. You take that and the other three items, and the statue goes to me."
But Du Yibo gritted his teeth, "No, I'm determined to have this statue. I'll add something on my side instead."
Having said that, he had produced an item.
Xiao Buli was about to refuse, but he was suddenly at a loss for words when he saw what it was. Du Yibo was brandishing a Skill Book.
Summon Ethereal Weapon (2-second casting): Summon a spiritual power-condensed Ethereal Weapon to aid you. The attack power of the Ethereal Weapon is determined by the caster's spiritual power; the higher the spiritual power, the stronger the weapon's might. The caster can set the type of weapon they wish to summon in the skill bar.
At any one time, the caster can only summon and keep one Ethereal Weapon. Using this spell consumes 20 Mana points.
Learning requires: Spiritual power 20, Taoist Heart LV2.
This skill wasn't very useful in the game, at least not for the short term, as an Ethereal Weapon could never be as effective as a real one, but it was particularly useful in reality. For someone who couldn't carry a weapon around, having such a skill undoubtedly solved that problem.
"I'll exchange it!" Xiao Buli agreed without any hesitation.
However, Du Yibo said, "Wait a minute, my Skill Book isn't that cheap. For three pieces of equipment plus the Skill Book, you'll have to give me that ring you mentioned earlier."
Xiao Buli hesitated briefly before agreeing. The Ring of Fire Source now only enhanced two of his spells - the Burst Talisman and the Fire Blade Skills. However, these skills weren't of much significance to him in reality; he had even removed the Burst Talisman from his quick access skill bar.
One could say that the ring had become somewhat redundant for him, but it was a perfect match for Du Yibo, still a fine piece of gear indeed. Why wouldn't he be happy with such an exchange?
With the four items in his possession, Xiao Buli immediately learned "Wild Beast Knowledge: Demon Realm Chapter" and equipped the Shadow Sprint Boots. Right after, he learned the Summon Ethereal Weapon skill.
Upon opening the skill bar, there were over a dozen types of weapons he could choose from for the Ethereal Weapon transformation. However, he could only select one to transform, and once chosen, it'd become Soul Binding, with no possibility of adjustment. Of course, Xiao Buli naturally chose the One-handed Sword as his Soul Binding weapon.
After making his selection, he used the skill. A flash of white light in his hand, and a translucent sword that seemed made of light and crystal appeared in his grasp, effulgent with Streaming Light, exceedingly beautiful.
He opened the equipment bar, and there was now a One-handed Sword named Ethereal Blade listed.
The Ethereal Blade's duration lasted 30 minutes, and it could be dismissed at any time, which was quite convenient. Checking the attributes of the Ethereal Sword, the attack power was 13-26.
With his current spiritual power plus his equipment, Xiao Buli had 26 points of spiritual power, which indicated that the minimum attack power of the weapon was half of his spiritual power, while the maximum was equivalent to his spiritual power. That was quite sufficient.
After dismissing the Ethereal Sword, Xiao Buli felt somewhat relieved. Now he wouldn't have to worry about being without a weapon in reality. He'd have to take the opportunity to familiarize himself with this spell.
Du Yibo, having received the Obsidian Panther Leader Statue and the Ring of Fire Source, was also quite pleased, and the two had enjoyed a rather satisfactory division of the spoils.
The two meditated for a while to recover their Mana, then continued southward.
This time they were even more cautious. Since there were Demon Clan Hunters, there was no telling if other Demons were nearby. To be safe, Du Yibo simply summoned the Shadow Panther Spirit to scout ahead while they followed at a slower pace.
After about ten minutes or so, the Shadow Panther Spirit suddenly sent out a warning signal. The two of them immediately became alert and cautiously advanced another dozen meters or so. As the trees gradually thinned, they saw a massive encampment hidden within the dense forest.
The camp was located in a large clearing in the forest, seemingly scorched entirely by flames, covered with burnt ash everywhere. Huge logs formed a camp that blocked their view, preventing a clear sight of the inside. But from afar, they could see a three-story-tall giant shadow, engulfed in blazing flames, patrolling the camp.
It was the Abyssal Flame Demon Lord! The moment Xiao Buli saw the figure, a name popped into his mind. On closer inspection, it was indeed that entity, its golden name glaringly conspicuous. (But shouldn't that guy be in the dungeon? How did he get out?)
While considering the situation, they drew a bit closer. Fortunately, there were no sentries or guards nearby. However, as they approached, the scene inside the camp gradually came into view, leaving them dumbfounded.
Hundreds, even thousands, of Demons chaotically filled the camp, and a structure resembling a Teleportation Portal emitted an unceasing glow of black and crimson. Each flicker of the portal teleported dozens of Demons out. On average, every fifteen minutes or so, the portal would flicker. Could it be that the Demon Clan was transporting more troops?
The numbers suggested that in a few days, they might have over a thousand troops. What battle could they still fight? The Demon Clan's forces alone could easily annihilate a raid party attempting to clear the dungeon, not to mention fighting the dungeon's bosses.
"What do we do now?" Du Yibo asked, full of trepidation.
"What else can we do but go back and report? I think if one force goes up, there's no need to bother with our dungeon anymore," Xiao Buli answered, but then frowned. If the dungeon was cancelled, he wondered if they could still continue the rebellion.
PS: Apologies for the fewer updates these past days. Big Sniper feels very sorry. From tomorrow, updates will resume to two a day, and I will try to burst with more content. Stay tuned.
PS2: I recommend another book, "The Counter-Attack of the Proud Sky" by author: Pao Jiang. It's quite interesting. Interested readers can go check it out. (To be continued.
