Chapter 3: Konohagakure no sato

The moment Harry accepted the mission, he was covered in a blue light before disappearing from the chamber of secrets. He had remembered the mythical Slytherin chamber when he was thinking of a place where he couldn't be easily searched or someone could enter the place.

However, any thoughts vanished from his head when he saw Rias Gremory. When he found out that she was a devil through the chat, he was a little scared, thinking that perhaps the smartphone was something dark. In fact, he expected something more... dark and ugly at the time of the meeting. But, her red hair was the most beautiful he had ever seen in his life, her blue eyes shone like two gems and she had flawless skin.

He also didn't expect such a sudden welcome or greeting, he expected something more awkward. That's why he was also surprised when she extended a small notebook with a pencil and asked for an autograph.

Harry could only scratch his head and nod before signing the notebook.

"So... what do we do now?", Harry asked as he looked around. They seemed to be in some kind of forest. The trees stood tall and created some shadows. A few meters away from their spot, a dirt road could be seen leading out of the forest.

"Well... we don't know where we are or even how this world works. The most logical thing would be to find information. The problem would still be there though, since we don't know anyone," Rias commented as she looked around, a little alert.

"By the way...", she turned her head and stared at Harry: "How old are you currently?"

"Fourteen, why?"

"So you're at the time of the Triwizard Tournament," Rias nodded. "You can defend yourself, right?... And I don't mean just stun someone."

"Well...", Harry shifted a little awkwardly. "Yes, I can defend myself, but it would depend on the kind of opponent. I also received an ancient magic from being the first user of the chat. It allows me to remember some types of magic and use them."

"But I don't think you mean all that much..."

"No...", Rias sighed a little dejectedly. "If your world is so similar to the books, then it's not well-regarded... sorry, wrong way to bring that up. The thing is, there's a chance we'll have to kill. The quest clearly states that we have to defend the leaf village."

Harry frowned immediately.

"It's probably because of the dark lords that have existed," Harry replied. "They kill and torture without any problem. So, perhaps, such methods don't even cross their minds, because they don't want to be like them."

"However... even if it's partly Voldemort's fault, I killed Quirrell in my first year. If I really have to get to a point where I have to kill, I'd be upset, but I could get over it easier than other people."

Rias looked at Harry for a few moments before nodding. She had forgotten that the person in front of her was a real person. Someone with memories, feelings, and their own problems and ways of seeing things. This Harry Potter wasn't just a character, he was someone who made his own decisions, even if some of them were bad.

"Then let's walk a bit... I think we should get as much information as possible."

Harry nodded and followed Rias who had started walking.

"By the way, Rias. What kind of powers do you have?... it would be useful to know now and not be surprised later.

Rias nodded, "Aside from my body being better than a human's. I can use demonic power to create certain phenomena: fire, water, wind, earth, and lightning. I can cast different types of attacks. But also, I possess the ability of the power of destruction, this allows me to cast destructive attacks... well, I'm not the best at this, but I can still erase targets that aren't that big and that powerful."

"Eh... those are great skills...", Harry commented a little discouraged at being so weak compared to Rias. He didn't want her to do all the work on this mission.

Rias just smiled slightly before looking ahead, noticing two large gates with walls. There were a few people coming in and out while two guards stood on either side of the gate. Inside, a booth could also be seen off to the side, where two men were sitting.

"They look like soldiers of some sort," Harry muttered quietly, just so Rias could hear him. She just nodded before entering with a bit of nervousness.

"Wait!"

The two of them stopped and turned to the side, where the booth was.

"Yes?", Harry asked a bit nervously.

"You need to register before you can enter," one of the men said seriously.

"Oh... I'm sorry, this is our first time here," Rias smiled friendly before approaching with Harry. The men gave them a sheet of paper each to fill out. It had simple questions like: name, place you're coming from, reason for visiting, and a few other things.

"Would you tell us somewhere to eat or something to entertain us?", Rias asked, without showing any strange expression or nervousness. She was hiding her emotions and expressions quite well.

"If you want something quick, Ichiraku Ramen isn't bad. There's also Yakiniku Q. As for something fun... well, there's the betting house. But the chunin exams will be starting soon."

"I see... thanks," Rias smiled before handing over the paper, as did Harry, who wrote a little slowly to see that he had the same answers as Rias.

As they managed to get further into the village, they noticed how big it was and the monument on a mountain, with carved faces.

"I think it would be good to look for a library first."

"Yeah...", Rias nodded at Harry's idea.

. . .

After a bit of time, they managed to find the library and began reading right away, but the more they did, the more surprised they became. The energy that people in this world used was Chakra, a mixture of the spiritual and physical energy within a person's body.

"This is... a bit different."

"Do you know chakra?" Harry asked curiously.

"In my world it exists as well, but it's mostly something that only Youkai can use. But, within this, there's also Touki, an application and control over one's own life force. And while someone from another race could awaken it, it would be through arduous training that would take years."

"Here, people can use chakra to launch elements from their mouths, or control them in forms of attack and defense with hand seals. This is impressive and also troublesome."

"Do you think we'll be able to learn from this?"

"Difficult..." Rias replied. "At least more for me. I have demonic power, so energies could fight, even if the chakra of this world is part of a person's physical and vital energy and everyone can learn, I don't know to what extent it can be good for me to learn"

"Instead, it might be easier for you. And anyway, I don't know the nature of magic. Is it something that's in the environment and you can absorb? Was it already in your body? Maybe it's just spiritual energy inside you?... But if it's the latter, then those you call muggles could also learn to use magic if they're trained, so I don't know much more than that"

"Magic... well, you need to be born with the 'gene' to be able to use it," Harry replied with a bit of seriousness. "For example, there are muggle-borns because in their family tree there was someone with the 'gene' for magic. The same goes for Squibs, if a magical family produces one, it means that in that family there was a muggle; no matter how far back in time these people lived, if there was only one, then the possibility of a Squib or muggle-born being born will exist."

"But...", Rias frowned a little. "What exactly does that gene do?... Does it allow you to sense the energy called magic? Does it give you access to it?... In fact, what exactly is magic in your world?"

"Uh...", Harry looked a little overwhelmed by the difficult questions to answer. "Is magic different in your world?"

"Yes...", Rias nodded seriously. "Merlin Ambrosius studied demonic power and its uses before creating the method for human magic. After finishing his studies and doing a lot of testing, he created the said system. It works by calculations. 'If I do this, this happens' is a phrase that is used a lot to describe a bit of the magic in my world."

"Of course, there is also Nordic magic, fairy magic, and many other types, but human magic works that way."

"I see...", Harry nodded, understanding Rias' world a bit more. "However, continuing to talk about all this won't help us. We need to find more information. We already know that the village - Konohagakure - is led by a Hokage and the soldiers are shinobi... Ninjas."

"This completely breaks with my idea of ninjas," Rias made a small face as she said that.

"But also the chunin exams, tests to see who is training for a promotion in the ranks will happen soon. I'm not surprised they attack at that time, especially if the tests are public. People would come to watch and the enemy could infiltrate."

"Mmm...", Harry muttered a little while placing two fingers on his chin, thinking about what to do next. They would probably end up being in this world for more than a month, so they needed a place to stay.

"Do you have any way to get money..."

Rias blinked before making another small face, "I don't like it, but I can use hypnosis to take money from some bank in the village or from other people."

Harry blinked before sighing, "It's the only way we have currently, we have no other options."

"And by the way... you definitely need to change your clothes."

"Huh?" Harry looked down and noticed that she was still wearing her Hogwarts robes, over her clothes that looked too big because they belonged to her cousin.

"Yeah..." Harry nodded, and in fact, the thought of having new clothes made stealing feel a little better.
