As they passed Ye Lingling, Xiao Wu looked up and waved cheerfully.

She glanced at the chain in his hand and the doll-like Xiao Wu at the end of it, blushing slightly.

It was hard not to find the scene strange.

"That's a relief," Qian Renjue sighed, quickly releasing the chain.

"Are you leaving now?" she asked.

"Yes, Senior Dugu is waiting downstairs," Qian Renjue nodded, his gaze fixed on her face through the veil.

Her delicate, pale face slowly flushed with warmth.

Ye Lingling tugged at his clothing and looked up at him, her eyes glistening as she bit her lip and shyly asked, "Aren't you going to give me a hug?"

"…"

Qian Renjue froze momentarily before gently pulling her into his arms.

Her soft, warm body carried a faint, elegant fragrance.

"I'll buy you a new hairpin when I return," he whispered, noticing the red one in her hair.

"No need, I quite like this one," she said, her face blushing as she leaned into his embrace, her heart racing.

"You're the Holy Son, Jue. You have important things to do. You don't need to apologize to me," Ye Lingling said breathlessly, feeling both shy and touched.

Qian Renjue shook his head. "It's my responsibility to spend time with you as well."

"Okay," she murmured, feeling more at ease in his arms.

"Wait for me a few days," he said softly, brushing her cheek through the veil.

"Mm," Ye Lingling nodded, her face flushed as she nuzzled his hand.

At that moment, their embrace was interrupted by Xiao Wu, who clung to Qian Renjue's leg.

"Your Highness, Xiao Wu wants a hug too."

Qian Renjue, exasperated, glanced at Ye Lingling, who smiled despite her embarrassment. "Go ahead, hug her."

"Fine," Qian Renjue sighed, lifting Xiao Wu into his arms, though he couldn't help but feel annoyed.

Didn't she just promise not to interrupt?

"Your Highness~" Xiao Wu beamed at Ye Lingling.

Qian Renjue suggested, "Lingling, should I arrange for Senior Dugu to escort you back?"

"No need, just go. The sooner you leave, the sooner you can return."
