Douluo Dalu: The World Suppressing Douluo

Chapter 133: Chapter 134: Arrival at Guhe Town, The Mission Begins

Once all the students had gathered, the lead instructor guided them to board the carriages one by one.

The convoy set off, heading steadily toward their destination—Guhe Town.

Guhe Town was located within the borders of the Heaven Dou Empire, much like Notting City. However, unlike Notting City, Guhe Town was situated in a remote, mountainous area.

It was precisely this isolation that made Guhe Town a target for the vile Soul Masters. The entire population—men, women, the elderly, and children—was massacred. The town was then turned into a temporary base for the dark practitioners.

If not for Lin Ye providing Bibi Dong with a drop of the Blood Infant's essence, which allowed her to trace the blood and uncover the presence of these vile Soul Masters, the massacre might have gone unnoticed for an indeterminate amount of time.

---

After several days of travel from Spirit City, the convoy finally approached the outskirts of Guhe Town on the fourth day, traversing rugged mountains and winding paths.

As they drew closer to the town, Lin Ye's keen senses picked up the faint stench of burning and the unmistakable tang of blood lingering in the air.

Pulling back the carriage curtains, Lin Ye's expression darkened as he surveyed the scene outside.

The road was littered with the wreckage of carriages, shattered belongings, and bloodstained packages. The shrubs along the roadside were similarly drenched in crimson.

Lin Ye could vividly imagine the chaos that unfolded when the vile Soul Masters descended upon Guhe Town. Many townsfolk had likely tried to flee, only to meet their doom along the way.

Some had attempted to escape on foot, carrying only their most precious possessions. Others had fled with their families in carriages. Yet, regardless of their method, none had escaped the clutches of the Soul Masters.

Their fates were sealed—captured, slaughtered, their carriages destroyed, and their blood staining the earth and foliage.

"These inhuman Soul Masters... utterly despicable!"

Lin Ye's face remained stoic, but rage boiled within him. His fists clenched tightly as he fought to contain his anger.

He wasn't the only one. Many of the young Soul Masters in the other carriages, upon witnessing the carnage, grit their teeth in fury. Their youthful sense of justice burned bright, untainted by the cynicism of the world.

For them, the sight of such atrocities was impossible to ignore.

---

The convoy pressed on and soon reached the perimeter of Guhe Town.

From within the carriages, the students could see the town in the distance, nestled amidst the surrounding mountains and forests. The entire area had been cordoned off by Spirit Hall Soul Masters.

The reason for this blockade was straightforward: to trap any surviving vile Soul Masters within, providing the young generation of Spirit Hall with a real combat opportunity to eliminate them.

"Stop!"

As the convoy reached the blockade, a commanding voice from one of the Spirit Hall guards brought the carriages to a halt.

The lead instructor stepped down, exchanged a few polite words with the guard, and then turned to address the gathered students.

"Students, your instructors should have briefed you on the end-of-year assessment mission by now," the instructor said, his voice firm.

"Yes, they have!" the students replied in unison.

"Good. However, while your instructors may have explained the mission, I need to reiterate a few key points for your safety," the instructor continued.

"Your task is to enter Guhe Town and hunt down the vile Soul Masters within. For every Soul Master you kill, sever their left ear and store it in your spatial soul tool as proof. At the end of the mission, the top three students with the most proof will be rewarded personally by Her Holiness, the Pope!"

The students' eyes lit up with determination at the mention of the reward.

"Now, while it's true that most of the Soul Masters you'll encounter are at the Soul Grandmaster to Soul Elder level, this isn't the whole story.

"Although we've already eliminated any Soul Masters at the Soul King level or above, there's always a chance a few have slipped through our net. While we'll do our best to track and eliminate these stragglers, for your safety, I strongly advise you to form Soul Master teams.

"In a team, you'll stand a better chance of holding your ground against stronger enemies until reinforcements arrive."

"Form teams?"

The students began discussing the suggestion among themselves, most agreeing that it was a wise precaution.

---

"Lin Ye, Nana, why don't we form a team? I'm an assault-type, Yan is defense-type, you're support-type, and Nana is control-type. It's a perfect balance!" Xie Yue proposed as he approached Lin Ye and Hu Liena with Yan in tow.

"Sure," Lin Ye agreed without hesitation.

Though he could handle the mission alone, joining a team meant he could stay in the backline and avoid unnecessary risks. Why charge into danger when there were others to share the load?

"Sort yourselves into teams, and once you're ready, I'll let you in," the instructor announced.

After some deliberation, the fifty or so students formed into groups of varying sizes—some pairs, others trios or quartets. Though the teams weren't professional, it didn't matter much for the task at hand.

"Alright, now that you've all formed your teams, proceed!"

At the instructor's command, the blockade was lifted, and the students surged forward, heading toward Guhe Town in a steady stream.

---

"Should we head straight to Guhe Town as well?" Yan asked, scratching his head as he watched the others rush ahead.

"If everyone goes to the town, it'll be too crowded. Even if we encounter vile Soul Masters, the chaos will make it hard to fight effectively," Lin Ye replied calmly. "If I were a vile Soul Master, knowing Spirit Hall is after me, I wouldn't hide in the town. I'd retreat into the surrounding forests where it's easier to hide and escape."

Xie Yue considered Lin Ye's reasoning and nodded. "You're right. The Soul Masters who've survived this long must be adept at evasion. The forest is a more likely hiding spot."

"Then let's search the forests around the town," Hu Liena suggested.

"Agreed. Let's move!" Lin Ye said decisively.

With their plan set, the group headed toward the dense forests encircling Guhe Town.
