Douluo: Infinite Lottery System

Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Returning to the Village

In the end, Xiao Tianyang was still late. Although he faced some criticism, it didn't dampen his good mood.

All things considered, today's harvest had been quite rewarding. And with the time flying by so quickly in this state, the class seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. Almost as if on cue, the bell rang.

After the teacher left, the students in the classroom began to get up, preparing to head to the cafeteria. But before Xiao Tianyang could follow, Tang San approached him.

"Brother Tianyang, I'm going home during the holiday, what about you?" Tang San asked.

Xiao Tianyang instinctively opened his mouth to answer, but at that moment, a system prompt appeared in his mind.

Ding! Host triggers a side mission, [Witness].

Content: Witness Tang San and Xiao Wu becoming siblings!

Mission Reward: The host's charm will be improved!

"What kind of reward is this?" Xiao Tianyang murmured in his heart, but his face remained calm as he replied, "I also plan to go back, and we just happen to be going at the same time."

Just as Tang San was about to nod, Xiao Wu squeezed her way over to the side, saying, "I want to go too!"

"Didn't you say you were going home?" Tang San asked, puzzled.

"If you don't take me with you, I might just stay here and never go back..." Xiao Wu's eyes held a touch of loneliness, a stark contrast to her usual lively appearance.

"In that case..." Tang San glanced at Xiao Tianyang, seemingly asking for his opinion.

"If you already know the answer, don't hesitate." Xiao Tianyang shot him a playful glare. Tang San, encouraged by the support, smiled and said,

"Well then, you can come with us, though my father might not have the best temper..."

Xiao Wu jumped up in joy, her face beaming with excitement. "Stop saying unnecessary things, let's go eat!" She grabbed Tang San and Xiao Tianyang by the arms and eagerly pulled them toward the cafeteria.

The next morning, the three of them set off, chatting along the way toward the Holy Soul Village.

As the days passed, the trio had grown in height, though none more striking than Xiao Tianyang, who stood a full head taller than Tang San.

As for physical fitness, it was even more apparent. Half a year ago, Tang San had been no match for Xiao Tianyang, and now, the gap had only widened.

By the time they reached Holy Soul Village, it was already afternoon. Before they even entered the village, a familiar voice rang out.

"Tianyang, Xiao San, why did you two come back without telling me?" It was Old Village Chief Jack, leaning on his crutches and waving at them.

"It's our holiday, so of course we had to come back," Xiao Tianyang stepped forward to support the elderly man, who had always treated him kindly. "Besides, we're not children anymore. The road's well-traveled, what dangers could we encounter?"

"You're still as reckless as ever," Old Jack scolded, though there was no malice in his words. "Remember, you've gained years now. You need to learn how to take care of others, you hear?"

"I hear you!" Xiao Tianyang said with a playful smile. Wasn't he taking care of others? After all, his cooking skills alone were proof enough. But when Old Jack saw that playful grin, he knew Xiao Tianyang hadn't taken the words to heart. He sighed, turning to Tang San.

"Xiao San, your father..."

Tang San, who had been about to introduce Xiao Wu to Old Jack, suddenly found himself filled with an overwhelming desire to see his family. "Grandpa Jack, I'm sorry, but I have to go home first."

He left Xiao Wu and hurried off, and Xiao Tianyang silently helped Old Jack walk along without rushing. Familiar with the plot, Xiao Tianyang knew that Tang Hao was not home and that it could be a long time before Tang San saw him again.

As they walked, Xiao Tianyang vaguely heard Old Jack muttering to himself, "That guy, Tang Hao, is irresponsible. He even asked me to deliver the letter..."

They soon arrived at the blacksmith's shop. Xiao Tianyang opened the door to find Tang San in a daze, while Xiao Wu seemed at a loss for words. The air between them was heavy with an unspoken sadness.

At this moment, Old Jack stepped forward and handed a letter to Tang San, speaking as he did so. "Xiao San, this is something your father left for you."

Xiao Tianyang didn't say much. He simply patted Tang San on the shoulder and said, "Sometimes, don't just believe what you see with your eyes. Feel it with your heart, and maybe you'll discover something else." After that, he helped Old Jack away.

Once they left, Tang San stood there, moved by the words. Part of it was because the advice made sense, but more than that, it was because he trusted Xiao Tianyang. He had always looked up to him as a benchmark.

Whether it was Xiao Tianyang's words, his actions, or his strength, Tang San admired him deeply. If Xiao Tianyang knew what Tang San was thinking, he would have surely been pleased and secretly praised, "This boy can be taught!"

Tang San tightened his grip on the letter. "Dad, I don't know why you left, but one day, we will meet again..."

"Little San, are you okay?" Xiao Wu asked softly as she stepped forward.

"I'm fine," Tang San smiled. "Brother Tianyang is right. Dad must have left quietly because he didn't want to burden me with something. I trust Brother Tianyang, and I believe in Dad even more."

"Phew, you scared me to death." Xiao Wu relaxed her pretty face now at ease. She looked around, then pouted slightly, "Really, where did Tianyang go this time?" She had wanted Xiao Tianyang to stay and cook for them, but now, what were they to do? Who would take care of lunch?

After sending Old Jack home, Xiao Tianyang cooked him a meal.

However, not long after they started eating, a sudden bark pierced the air.

"Woof!"

Xiao Tianyang was used to it, but Old Jack nearly jumped out of his seat in fright. Xiao Tianyang raised his foot and kicked Bubu, scolding, "If you dare do this again next time, you'll go without food for three days! Don't you see an old man sitting here? What if he gets scared to death?"

Bubu, lying on the ground with a slightly aggrieved look, stretched out a paw and started drawing circles in the dirt. It had no idea that its bark could cause such a strong reaction from the old man.

Xiao Tianyang couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth. He waved it off, then quickly moved to comfort Old Jack.

"Grandpa Jack, are you okay?" he asked, genuinely concerned.

"It's fine, just a bit of a shock," Old Jack replied, gradually calming down.

He glanced at Bubu, shaking his head. "When did this dog come in? I didn't hear a sound."

"Maybe it was too quiet," Xiao Tianyang answered with an awkward smile. That wasn't quite the case...
