Chapter 202: Freya

Chapter 202 - Freya

At the center of Orario stands the Tower of Babel, a structure so massive it dwarfs everything else in the world.

But it wasn't built to impress or break records.

Its true purpose is to suppress what lies beneath—the infamous dungeon.

The dungeon isn't just some underground labyrinth.

It's the birthplace of monsters.

Long ago, before the gods descended, humanity was utterly powerless against the horrors spilling out of it.

Monsters surged from the dungeon, spreading chaos and destruction everywhere.

When the gods arrived, they granted blessings—Falna—to humanity, giving them the strength to fight back.

But even with those power, wiping out the monsters that had already escaped was impossible.

So, to stop another disaster, the gods built Babel, sealing the dungeon's entrance beneath it to prevent anything from escaping again.

Of course, Babel wasn't just a giant lid slapped on top of the dungeon.

Over time, it became so much more.

The first floor? That's the dungeon's entrance.

The second floor? Public facilities managed by the Guild.

On the third floor, adventurers can trade magic stones and monster drops for valis, cutting out the hassle of visiting the Guild directly.

From the fourth floor upward, the tower is packed with shops run by Familias.

The Hephaestus Familia, known for their forging, dominates floors four to eight with their weapon and armor stores.

Above that are reserved for the gods of prominent Familias.

At the very peak of Babel is where the Freya Familia resides.

On the highest floor, Freya stood by a grand window, bathed in soft light that only seemed to amplify her beauty.

Her chair—if you could even call it that—was more like a throne.

She sat back, her gaze distant, her thoughts fixated.

Freya's beauty was unparalleled, a force of nature.

Her porcelain skin, graceful figure, and a face that could drive mortals insane weren't just a gift—they were a weapon.

But in this moment, her usual composure wavered.

Her silver eyes burned with a mix of longing and obsession.

"Just one look at him..." she murmured, her voice carrying an uncharacteristic tremor.

The quiet was broken by the creak of a door opening.

A towering figure entered the room—Ottar, the only Level 7 adventurer in all of Orario.

Standing well over two meters tall, his presence alone was enough to intimidate even the boldest of adventurers.

"Lady Freya, is something wrong?" Ottar asked, his deep voice calm but tinged with concern.

Freya's gaze didn't waver as she straightened herself. "I'm fine," she replied, her tone regaining its usual elegance.

"Ottar, did you carry out my instructions?"

"Yes," Ottar said with a nod.

"Since yesterday, we've announced the Familia is recruiting new members."

"Several adventurers have applied, some with notable potential. Do you want to meet any of them?"

Freya waved a hand dismissively, her expression indifferent. "No. I'm not interested in anyone else. Tell me—has a boy named Mahiro Toma applied?"

Ottar hesitated, then answered, "No, my lady. No one by that name has appeared."

Freya's expression darkened for a brief moment before a knowing smile crept across her lips.

"As expected," she said softly, almost to herself. "He's still at the Guild, isn't he? Probably learning about the various Familia."

Her lips curved further, but she resisted the urge to watch him directly.

She knew all too well how sharp he was—he'd sense her gaze, and that would ruin everything.

"Should I bring him here?" Ottar asked, ready to act.

"No!" Freya's voice came out sharper than she intended, but she quickly softened it.

"Don't interfere. Let him come to me on his own."

Ottar gave a slight bow. "As you wish, Lady Freya."

"You may go now," she said, her attention already drifting back to her thoughts.

Ottar left without another word, and Freya turned back to the window, gazing out over the sprawling city of Orario.

A confident, almost predatory smile spread across her face.

"When he's done poking around, he'll come to me," she whispered.

There was no doubt in her mind.

Her Familia was the most powerful in Orario, and her beauty?

Unmatched.

Mahiro wouldn't be able to resist her.

"I'll be waiting for you, Mahiro," Freya murmured, her eyes glowing with anticipation.
