His Mate, His Enemy.

Chapter 5: He Is Going To Kill Me!

Ulva paced about restlessly while Fang relayed the results of the search for the first Alpha Princess.

"No one went in to her room after I dropped her off?" She asked for confirmation even though from what he had told her, she knew what the answer was.

"No one, My Queen." Came the bodyguard's reply.

The Queen's next move was unexpected as she slammed her hand against a ceramic vase that had been perfectly seated on a shelf.

The Vase shattered before it even fell to the ground and blood dripped from her hand to the floor where the broken pieces lay.

"Send for the prince and princess immediately. I want them here now!" Ulva said as she continued pacing around the study.

Fang responded with a nod on his head and he left to give orders to the lower bodyguards.

It was a good thing that the Queen's study was a large room, spacious enough to contain her storming about.

If she could shift in to her wolf form and run out the window in to the woods clawing at any and everything in sight, then she would.

But she had to stay as calm as she could despite the fact that she could feel fear consuming the very essence of her life.

He would kill her! He would definitely kill her!

Ulva had always known that Selene would be the cause of her demise. Ever since she assumed the throne and became step mother to that moon cursed mongrel, she knew that she would be the death of her.

Connor and Coral arrived at the Queen's private study together relieving Ulva a little of her throbbing thoughts.

The sight that welcomed the twins told them that something was amiss. Their mother looked very troubled, standing before broken pieces of the Vase and though her hand had healed already, it still showed stains of blood.

"Mother, what's wrong?" Connor asked stepping forward and taking her hands in his.

Ulva was unable to stop herself from sobbing as she placed her head against her son's chest. The feeling of comfort from him weakened her.

"He is going to kill me. He is going to kill me." She wept.

Coral came closer as well.

"Do you mean Father?" She asked.

Ulva did not reply but she kept on sobbing which was enough to give Coral her answer.

"So the bald wretch is really gone? How?!" Coral demanded in utter confusion.

All their lives Selene had lived like a prisoner with very little to no acces to the outside world. So how was it possible that she had suddenly vanished?

"I don't know." Ulva said sniffing as wiped her tears while Connor patted her back.

"Nothing will happen to you because of that cursed being! Maybe she got kidnapped in the middle of the night!" Coral said.

"I was the one who escorted her to her room last night. I was the last one to see her." Ulva explained through gritted teeth.

"And so? You didn't do anything!" Coral said angrilly. "Instead of being sad, I think we should be celebrating her departure from our lives."

"Shut up Coral." Connor growled at her.

"What? I'm saying the truth. I for one am very happy she's gone because it means I would be the one to get married to Lyall." She said with a far away look in her eyes.

Connor gritted his teeth at her while Ulva blinked at her insensitive daughter.

"Calm down, Mother." Connor said pushing away the disgust he felt for his sister. "She might actually be kidnapped."

Coral let out a deep cackle receiving a shocked look from both Mother and Son.

"I'm sorry, are you kidding? I know I said it but Kidnapped?" She sneered. "Who would want anything to do with that bald creature?"

"She's very important to father. You know that!" Connor cautioned.

The laughter died down immediately and a usual jealousy took its place in Coral's mind. She had grown up wondering why their father treated Selene like an egg. Protective and special. She mocked Selene for being locked up and abnormal but deep down, Coral envied her deeply.

"I think you should tell him." Connor advised his mother whose face turned pale at the suggestion.

"Are you crazy?" Coral retorted coming forward. "That's suicide! I think we should all pretend like nothing happened. Mother dropped her off last night and that's it. Besides, Father won't see her until the next New moon phase. We can just wait until that."

"It's not a surprise to hear you say that because of how stupid you are!" Connor spat.

"You're the stupid fool!" Coral spat back.

Connor turned to his mother ignoring Coral.

"If Father finds out later, he's going to be even more angry. Selene gets cared for and fed everyday, he will know that you found out and kept it from him." He said looking her deeply in the eyes.

Ulva hated the fact that her son was right but on the other hand she was grateful to have him beside her for his wisdom.

"Whatever! I'm leaving. I have to meet up with my friends in the garden." Coral said and she turned to walk away.

"Coral! Not a word of this to anyone!" Ulva called after her daughter.

"Oh please! My friends and I have more important things to discuss like the Solstice Party." Coral threw over her shoulder before leaving the room.

"Stupid She-wolf!" Ulva snarled after her daughter.

"I agree." Connor said and then he added thoughtfully. "Do you think she did it? Had something to do with Selene's disappearance, I mean."

Ulva shook her head. "She was so drunk that she had to be carried to her chambers last night. I had Fang ask around." She said and then rolled her eyes. "Besides, we have established that your sister is not so smart."

"Okay then. Let's go." Connor said and he took his mother by the arm.

They walked together all the way to the Alpha's own castle and when they got to the door, Connor released his comforting hold on her.

"I would have liked to go with you but you know how he will react." He said.

Ulva nodded and took a deep breath smoothening her hair.

"Thank you my son." She said brushing his cheek gently.

He patted her hand and watched as she walked past the large doors with her security guards following closely.

Connor ignored the tiny twinge of panic that tried to resurface. He had to be very aware of everything concerning Selene's disappearance.

Ulva held her head high as best as she could while making her way to the Alpha's main bedroom where she had been told that he was.

Just as she crossed the hallway, a door opened and someone walked briskly yet carefully to her.

"My Queen." The old werewolf greeted as he held on to his cane for support.

"Monrel." Ulva said pushing down irritation as she gave a respectful nod.

She was already dealing with a lot on her mind and she didn't want to have to deal with her husband's bat.

"May I ask where you are headed?"

Again, Ulva pushed down an irritated hiss.

"To see my husband. I have private matters to discuss." She said and then she added with a very tight smile, "Excuse me."

But the older werewolf followed and blocked her from moving forward.

"The King is exercising his moment of solitude now. We both know that he won't appreciate your intrusion." Monrel said with a sinister smile.

Ulva wished she could just claw off his face in disgust but instead, she held herself steady.

"What I wish to discuss with the king is very important." She said hating the fact that she had to explain to him.

"Then I suggest you speak to me about it and I shall tell it to the King." Monrel suggested.

Ulva stood tongue tied for a second suppressing her anger and irritation with all her might.

She finally summoned a fake smile. "It is personal. Please tell him that I would like to speak to him. Very Urgently."

She turned around and walked away not wanting to hear one more word from that leeching fellow because she would have not been able to hold herself back.

Not with the emotions she was currently dealing with.

As she left the King's personal castle, she wondered to herself, Where in the world was the cursed being?!
