Chapter 34: New Seeker, Harry's Suspicion
[After responding to Hagrid's invitation letter for tea at his house, Harry headed with Ron to Potions class.]
[Although he suspected Snape didn't like him very much, Harry decided not to let it bother him. He focused on staying out of trouble, taking note of all the professor's tips, and making a good impression.]
[However, he soon realized he had underestimated the situation: Snape didn't just seem to dislike him—he seemed to hate him. From the start of class, while taking roll call, the disdain in Snape's voice when pronouncing Harry's name was evident to everyone in the room.]
[When he thought Harry wasn't paying attention to his lecture on the art of Potions, Snape immediately asked him three questions Harry couldn't answer. Despite having read a bit about One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, Harry couldn't remember everything.]
[Trying to avoid further trouble, Harry suggested that Hermione, who had been raising her hand for quite some time, answer in his place. However, Snape deducted a point from Gryffindor for his "impertinence".]
[During the practical pair activity, Neville made a grave mistake while preparing the potion, and Harry lost another point for supposedly not warning him in time about the error.]
[By the end of class, after losing two points for Gryffindor, Harry's feelings toward Snape sank to rock bottom.]
Hermione Granger: "Shameless!!!"
Hermione was genuinely furious at that moment. As a true Gryffindor, it was natural for her to carry a strong temper, and that injustice deeply outraged her.
Observing the way Snape treated students, especially Harry, it seemed as if flames of indignation burned in her eyes.
Look at how Professor McGonagall encourages us and motivates us to do our best in Transfiguration lessons.
And look at you, deducting points at every turn!
Are you even a qualified teacher?!
The more she thought about it, the more outraged Hermione became. Her eyes, now red with anger, locked onto Snape as if they could pierce him.
But it wasn't just Hermione who was furious. Harry, Ron, and all the other Gryffindor students were equally enraged, casting hostile glares at Snape.
Some even began to understand the Comparison Room's decision to forbid the use of spells.
If spells were allowed, some of the more impulsive students would have already bombarded Snape with a barrage of curses.
The situation escalated quickly, and voices began to echo not only in Gryffindor but also in Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff:
"Two points lost in a single class? Outrageous!"
"No wonder Slytherin has won the House Cup for seven consecutive years. With Snape's help, even a pig could win!"
"If he deducts points like this from every house daily, it's not hard to imagine how he racks up hundreds of lost points in no time."
"We demand justice!"
The voices grew louder, and, for the first time in years, the three houses stood united against a common enemy, demanding justice from Dumbledore.
Slytherin, on the other hand, seemed a bit embarrassed by the situation. After all, Snape was still their esteemed Head of House who had greatly helped them win the House Cup.
Draco Malfoy, usually so confident, tried to shrink back to avoid drawing attention at that moment.
Professor McGonagall was perplexed by the situation and acted quickly, accompanied by other teachers, trying to alleviate the situation.
Snape, for his part, seemed shocked by the crowd of students who almost surrounded him.
If he could use magic, he certainly wouldn't feel any pressure, but in this situation, he was no stronger than a common Muggle.
Dumbledore, with a slightly embarrassed expression, observed the outrageous scene of students about to surround the professor.
He stood up to contain the situation.
The chat group also began to buzz at this moment.
Mr. Granger: "Hmpf! I don't think this person is fit to be a professor."
Petunia Dursley: "I agree with you, especially when this person doesn't even wash their hair."
Minerva McGonagall: "Mr. Granger, don't let these scenes affect your judgment. I can say that Professor Snape is still an excellent teacher."
Ron Weasley: "Sure, just like when he let Neville melt a cauldron..."
Ron: "Well, just forget what I just said."
Ron quickly changed his words.
Even though Snape wasn't in a good situation at the moment, Ron knew he wasn't in a position to criticize him further.
Penelope Clearwater: "Strange... Why do I feel like there's something suspicious about Snape's questions?"
Cho Chang: "What a coincidence... I also feel like Snape's words seem to carry some hidden meaning."
I must say, the girls' intuition remains as sharp as ever. Even in a brief scene, they can notice that something is off... but that's a matter for later.
[After the Potions class, Harry went with Ron to Hagrid's to try his tea and biscuits, which nearly broke their teeth. While chatting about the usual Hogwarts topics, Harry discovered through the Daily Prophet that Gringotts had been robbed.]
[He realized that the looted vault was the very one he had accompanied Hagrid to visit. Harry noticed that Hagrid seemed to know something and began thinking of various ways to make him talk.]
[On a Thursday, Harry attended a flying lesson together with the Slytherin students. After Neville fell off his broomstick, Madam Hooch escorted him to the infirmary.
[Draco took the opportunity to grab Neville's Remembrall and joked about where he could hide it. Harry then displayed superb broomstick skills and was taken by Professor McGonagall to Oliver Wood. Shortly afterward, Harry became the youngest Seeker at Hogwarts in centuries.]
[The news spread, and soon everyone at Hogwarts knew Harry was the new Seeker. During dinner, Draco challenged Harry to a wizard's duel in the trophy room and Ron didn't hesitate to accept the challenge for Harry.]
[Hermione overheard the arrangement and warned them, saying it was unfair to Gryffindor, but both ignored her and waited until midnight to sneak out.]
[Hermione, foreseeing what would happen, threatened to tell Percy, but they ignored her again. When Hermione tried to return to the common room, the fat woman had already left and her painting was dark. With no other choice, she followed them.]
[When they arrived at the trophy room, Harry discovered that his father had also been a talented Seeker for Gryffindor. After a while, Draco didn't show up, but they heard Filch approaching with his cat.]
[Suddenly, Harry and Ron realized they had been tricked by Draco. The three started running and ended up in the forbidden corridor on the third floor, where they encountered a monstrous three-headed dog. Fortunately, they managed to escape quickly and ran back to the common room.]
[When they arrived, doubts began to arise in their minds. Why would a monster like that be at Hogwarts? And what was it guarding in that trapdoor? Harry began to suspect deeply that this mystery was connected to Hagrid.]
