Chapter 61: Chapter 62: Forever Friday
"Obito, did something good happen to you recently? You seem to be in a really good mood," Lin asked, noticing that Obito was unusually cheerful today.
"Of course, it's because good times are coming!" Obito grinned and said.
Although the number of questions seemed to have increased after the change in the battle rules, the training could offset some of them, and with the ability to break the questions into installments, the daily number of questions hadn't changed much.
Now that he was gradually getting stronger, the number of questions was decreasing. With the offsets and installment options, it was definitely a sign that good times were ahead.
"Obito, you finally remembered the date. Do you want to hang out tomorrow?" Lin, thinking that Obito was talking about the weekend, asked.
"Date? Hang out tomorrow?" Obito looked confused and then thought of a terrifying possibility.
"Is today Friday again?" Obito asked Lin.
"Yes, why? You mean the good times you're talking about aren't the weekend?" Lin nodded and asked.
Obito fell silent, feeling as if yesterday had been Sunday, but now it was Friday again.
In a daze, Obito realized that he had gone through this situation several times already.
"Could it be that I'm stuck in a world where it's always Friday and the weekend?" Obito held his head in disbelief.
"Obito, what's wrong? You look really troubled." Lin was puzzled.
How could a student look so distressed when the weekend was about to begin? Isn't the break a good thing?
"It's because I love school and learning so much that the thought of not being able to go to school makes me feel bad," Obito forced an explanation.
He wasn't going to tell Lin that he was afraid of accumulating too many questions over the weekend and not being able to finish them.
"So, Obito, you love studying this much?" Lin was a little surprised, wondering if it had something to do with Obito's improvement this semester.
"Then, do you still want to hang out tomorrow?" Lin asked.
"We'll go tonight!" Obito answered.
After the rules changed, weekends had become too tiring to enjoy.
He spent almost all day training and doing questions, and by the evening, he had no energy left to move.
Every time Obito thought about how Might Guy could still practice on top of everything, his scalp tingled with amazement. What kind of body and willpower did Guy have?
"Doesn't Guy ever get tired?" Obito thought as he looked at Guy, who was focused on his questions.
"Hopefully, the weekend will have installment payments with no interest," Obito silently prayed to the kind Master Mu Yue in his heart.
After school, Obito went to the training area as usual, being the last one to arrive.
Mu Yue called the three of them together and started assigning tasks.
"Guy, kick that tree with all your strength," Mu Yue casually pointed at a thick tree.
Guy nodded and walked over to the tree. With a burst of chakra, he unleashed a powerful spinning kick.
Crash! The tree fell, broken in half.
"My strength has increased enough to break a big tree!" Guy was a little surprised.
He had once seen Mu Yue quickly break a tree with a kick and thought it was impressive, but now he had done it himself.
Next, Mu Yue used ninjutsu to create a large pit and filled it with water. He then turned to Obito and said:
"Obito, use your Great Fireball Technique to attack the water pit."
Obito formed the hand seals as Mu Yue instructed, then spat out a massive fireball that instantly evaporated the water in the pit, leaving behind only scorched earth.
"This is the power of my Fire Style," Obito exclaimed, his eyes wide. This pit was several meters wide.
Just three months ago, he couldn't even evaporate a half-meter-wide pit with his small fireball.
Mu Yue then had them revisit several training techniques, including tree-climbing and water-walking.
Obito suddenly realized that he had improved significantly. What once had been extremely difficult water-walking exercises, he now could run on without being knocked over by the waves.
He could climb even the tallest trees with ease, melt ice blocks the size of two people's heads without breaking a sweat, and his Great Fireball and Great Dragon Fire were both second nature to him.
Finally, Mu Yue gave Obito and Guy a simulated test.
"Sixty points? This is my score?" Obito looked at the test paper in shock, more surprised than when he saw the Fire Style evaporate the water pit.
The last exam, when he scored thirty, had been a first, but sixty was a groundbreaking high score.
"Fifty-four points!" Guy said with tears of gratitude in his eyes as he held his test paper.
He and Obito felt the same way: it was too high, almost unbelievable.
Obito couldn't help but ask, "Master Mu Yue, you're not really the Sage of the Six Paths, are you?"
All the hard work hadn't been in vain; everything had paid off.
Nature transformations, ninjutsu, taijutsu, chakra control, and even theoretical knowledge—Obito felt that he had improved across the board, and he had improved by a lot.
At this moment, Obito felt that it didn't matter if he had to do questions every day and train all weekend. The rewards had been too great.
If he continued like this, maybe he could really become the Hokage of Konoha.
"You sure talk sweetly. Are you hoping to get another no-interest deal today?" Mu Yue laughed.
"Hehe, it'd be great if tomorrow is also no interest," Obito grinned sheepishly.
Though he felt like doing questions wasn't as bad as before, it'd still be nice to do fewer of them.
"Nice try, but special benefits only apply to yesterday," Mu Yue teased, tapping Obito on the head.
The reason for this sudden training summary was to help the disciples see their own progress and motivate them to continue practicing.
Timely positive feedback is very important, so Mu Yue planned to organize a similar training summary every so often.
With the disciples' spirits lifted, Mu Yue didn't waste the opportunity and gifted them some of his calligraphy.
[You gifted Obito Uchiha your calligraphy. Due to Obito's immense gratitude, you receive a critical reward and gain mastery over the Earth Style: Earth Spear (Proficient level).]
A flood of experience in the Earth Spear technique filled Mu Yue's mind, and he instantly understood various practical uses for this ninjutsu in battle.
Mu Yue nodded inwardly, feeling that this was a nice reward.
The Earth Style: Earth Spear was an extremely practical ninjutsu, capable of hardening any part of the body, making it both offensive and defensive, with strong utility.
Whether used for defense when an enemy gets too close or for offense when hardening a striking limb, it was highly useful.
"Don't forget your original intentions?" Obito pondered for a moment but couldn't find any special meaning, so he chose to dismiss it.
"Hard work pays off," Guy scratched his head, vaguely understanding the meaning, and smiled.
Even without the calligraphy, Guy was still full of motivation.
"Those who walk the righteous path will receive help, those who deviate will be left alone..." Shisui also couldn't understand what Mu Yue's calligraphy was trying to express.
What did it mean to walk the righteous path or deviate from it?
