HP X LOTM : Please Call Me Mr. Error.

Chapter 366: Mr. Error's Blessed.

Loki looked at the two of his teammates who were looking around Knockturn Alley as they walked house by house, trying to figure out which area was related to their target.

"Don't you think he should be rewarded for fulfilling people's wishes instead of being pursued by the Ministry?" Loki asked with a slight smile as he randomly scanned around the area.

Daphne quickly shook her head.

"It could be another one of those wishing demons."

"That would be terrible.", Hermione added.

Loki rolled his eyes since he knew they weren't going to find anything anytime soon.

Laura didn't want to waste time searching for the famed 'Wish Trader' as the people of Knockturn Alley had begun to call him since she knew it was just Loki buzzing around and doing strange things.

Loki didn't really have to fill or recharge the Disk of Wishes anymore since its power never seemed to decay, but he needed to act appropriately as his potion's name suggested, he needed to become a Dream Stealer.

Loki was essentially directing people's dreams with the help of Sunny while making sure to manipulate them in ways that would make them want to get rid of whatever they had dreamed up, be it wealth, power or talent.

In each case, Loki made sure to always manipulate the story around them in ways that made them regret their decisions.

Sometimes it was the simplicity of their current lives, other times it was personal relations.

For each person that came to his shop, Loki deeply studied their body of heart and minds while they were trapped in Sunny's dream illusions as he made sure to pick their insecurities, making sure that Sunny was able to digest his potion by 'soothing' their worries while-

-he was able to rob them the life they might have had if they'd changed themselves, i.e he was robbing them of their dreams.

Loki was doing this to improve on one of his ways to attack Voldemort at the end of the year since he wanted to study his thought patterns. He was using a special sacrificial lamb to do that but that was for another time.

The game Loki set up was simple and because of its harmlesslness, Laura made sure to ignore it.

But since she had to show to the world that she was doing something to handle the situation on paper, she assigned the mission to the best newbie team that had joined the Unspeakables department this year.

She could do so because the information regarding the Wish Trader was still just a simple 'tale' that was spread around Knockturn Alley. Since it wasn't something that had affected the rest of the world in any way, it was alright for her to assign it to a simple team under the pretence of not wanting to waste resources.

So Loki was currently investigating himself, courtesy Laura.

But Loki hadn't stopped there.

Loki was trying something he hadn't dared to try until now.

It wasn't something that he had figured out he could do because of necessity but because of boredom.

Continuously going to Knockturn Alley week after week in search of himself had left him with an active mind that wanted to explore other areas to pass the time.

And so Loki developed a game.

'Hmm…'

'If I can make Daph take left on the next turn I win.'

While the game looked mundane, it was anything but.

Loki was currently honing his ability to surgically place thoughts and manipulate someone by infiltrating their Sea of Collective Subconscious through himself.

Loki was essentially manipulating his own Sea of Subconscious and trying to infect the people around him without their notice.

As such, Loki threw out a thought into his Sea of Subconscious with a lot of spirituality, making a wide ripple that was sure to infect Daphne and Hermione who were very close to him.

And while Hermione was easily affected as displayed-

"Let's take a left next, we've taken too many rights until now."

Daphne-

"No. Let's divine it. We haven't done that in a while."

-wasn't.

Hermione nodded and quickly pulled out her topaz pendulum as she murmured her question.

"Going to the left will allow us to find evidence regarding the Wish Trader."

She repeated the question seven times and opened her eyes.

The pendulum was not spinning in any direction, meaning the divination was inconclusive.

Daphne frowned.

While Loki was fuming.

'What sort of mental defences does she have!?'

'Why isn't she falling for my charm!?'

'Is it some Beyonder Item on her?'

'But I can't detect anything that would influence her mind…or even protect it from external influences…'

'Am I just unlucky?'

'But Sunny is so easy to manipulate…'

'*sigh* I guess Sunny's just too stupid.'

The mission continued without any progress or results and so they returned to the Ministry empty handed.

During their time in the ministry, however, they were shocked to find Laura waiting for them.

"Loki. I need your help." Laura said simply while examining an item on the table in front of her.

Dominic stood beside her and he was similarly examining the item while Cedric stood to the side, leaning on a wall as he read through the several notes he had taken, presumably about the item that was the centre of attention in the room.

Loki looked at Ethan who was sitting beside the door while holding his heavy cane and dozing off but his magical eye spun around and pointed him in Laura's direction.

Loki looked at Daphne and she nodded, giving him permission to leave as he split away from Hermione and her to join Laura.

"What happe-"

"We got a note today along with this item." Laura said simply and when Loki was about to ask what the note was about Cedric tossed a card his way.

Loki grabbed the card out of the air and looked at it, Hermione and Daphne stood on his sides and peered at the item.

It was a picture of a letter which was framed well.

The words on it were simple.

And yet they shook Loki a little.

Hermione on the side had her eyes widen like a cat on catnip.

"The he-" Hermione whispered but caught her tongue just in time as Daphne looked at her with suspicion. But Hermione managed to change her words just in time.

"The hell does this even mean!?"

Daphne looked back at the picture and nodded, her suspicion reducing, a little.

"I don't understand too. Is this a joke?"

Laura looked at the three of them before locking in on Loki who had the most inquisitive look among them all.

"Can't say the letter rings a bell, but did it come to the Unspeakables along with this item?" Loki asked moving closer to Laura and looking at the item that was beside her.

'It's cheap…'

'Something like a roadside toy…'

'One that a child would be momentariily enamoured with, but would lose interest in quickly.'

Loki bent low to examine the monkey that was dressed in circusy clothes holding the cymbals.

But after not being able to figure anything out, he looked at Laura.

"This is an ordinary toy."

Laura nodded.

"That's the same conclusion everyone else came to too. Does nothing else ring a bell?"

Loki frowned.

Truth be told he was quite unsettled by the sudden case that had been presented in front of him.

Especially the words he'd read on the paper.

Loki looked at the card which held the picture of the letter once again and read aloud what he was seeing.

"Mr. Error's blessed sends you his regards."

"Mr. Error's blessed hopes to remind the directors that one cannot guide fate as they see fit without facing its wrath."

Hermione shivered involuntarily as if she was stuck by a sudden chill travelling up her spine.

'This!!!'

'Is this the work of Mr. World!?'
