Light Devil Fruit in Tales of Demons and Gods

Chapter 10: 10. Family Gathering (1)

Snow Wind Family Main Hall

The hall was grand and spacious, with chairs and tables neatly arranged. Despite the event not having started yet, the room was already bustling with people.

Ye Xinghan sat on the west side, casually sampling the snacks and appetizers that had been served early.

"This Fanged Rabbit chowder needs more herbs to neutralize the smell of the meat. The combination of cocktail fruits is unbalanced. Also..." Ye Xinghan jotted down his critiques in a notebook, looking every bit like a food critic.

His serious demeanor while writing made for a humorous sight, drawing quiet chuckles from those around him. He, however, ignored them all.

Suddenly, something barreled into him at high speed, knocking him to the floor. Ye Xinghan tumbled backward with the unexpected assailant.

"What the heck was that?" Ye Xinghan was ready to let loose a string of curses, but then he saw the culprit.

It was a slightly chubby little girl with long light purple hair, big round eyes, and a small nose. Her beaming smile radiated innocence as she perched on his chest.

"Big Brother!" she exclaimed in a crisp, lively voice.

"Qingyu?" Ye Xinghan recognized her instantly. This was Ye Qingyu, his younger sister.

"It's me! Did you miss me?" she asked, wrapping her arms around his head and rubbing her face against his.

"What are you doing?" Ye Xinghan grumbled as he tried to stand and pry her off. But she clung to him like an octopus.

"Qingyu, your brother has just recovered. Restrain yourself," came a stern voice. Ye Xinghan looked up to see his father, Ye Xiao, walking into the hall.

"But it's been days since I last saw Big Brother," Ye Qingyu protested, pouting as she tightened her koala-like grip on him.

"Dear husband, just let them be. You know how much Qingyu adores her brother. These past few days, she's been crying and begging to come home. It gave me quite the headache."

The gentle voice belonged to a woman standing next to Ye Xiao. Ye Xinghan turned to look and was immediately stunned.

She was breathtaking. Her long blue hair flowed like silk down to her waist. Her beautiful face featured slightly slanted crescent-shaped brows, misty eyes, and soft, pink lips that exuded charm.

Her figure was captivating, to say the least. A snow-colored ribbon hugged her willow-thin waist, and her white robes emphasized her full, round chest. Her hips were firm and alluring, completing a figure that seemed sculpted to perfection. Every movement of hers radiated an elegant charm capable of stealing souls.

"Is this my mother, Lu Yingmei?" Ye Xinghan thought, his jaw dropping slightly.

"She's so beautiful… And those… those melons… are massive…" Ye Xinghan couldn't help but be dumbfounded as he stared at his mother in awe.

"But there are many people watching. It's embarrassing for Xinghan to make a scene in front of everyone. What if someone remembers this in the future..." Ye Xiao's words trailed off as he noticed his wife throwing him an icy glare.

'Oh, so he's a henpecked husband,' Ye Xinghan mused silently. 'Well, if I had a beautiful wife like her, I'd treasure her with all my heart too.'

Lu Yingmei stepped forward and crouched down, pulling Ye Xinghan into a gentle hug, his head pressed against her soft, ample chest.

"My Xinghan, don't listen to your father's nonsense. Siblings must maintain a close relationship—the closer, the better." Her soothing voice filled the air as she patted his head affectionately.

"And don't force yourself to attend this event. Rest more so you can heal faster," she added.

"Mm-hmm, Mother is right!" Ye Qingyu nodded enthusiastically, hugging Ye Xinghan tightly from behind.

Ye Xinghan's mind short-circuited as he tried to process what was happening. His sister had launched herself at him like a cannonball earlier, and now he was being hugged from all directions.

Ye Xiao stood silently nearby, clearly used to such antics.

"Haha! Ye Xiao, your family is as lively as ever," a booming laugh echoed through the hall. Ye Zong, the family patriarch, had just entered.

"Big Brother, sorry for the commotion," Ye Xiao said, scratching his head awkwardly.

"No need to apologize. I agree with Sister-in-Law—siblings should have a strong bond. I hope my children can have a relationship like yours. Don't be so strict with them, Ye Xiao," Ye Zong said, patting Ye Xiao on the shoulder.

Suddenly, Ye Qingyu's ears perked up. She released her grip on Ye Xinghan and stepped in front of Ye Zong, hissing like a defensive cat ready to pounce.

Ye Xinghan followed her gaze, only to see a little girl peeking from behind Ye Zong's leg.

The girl had deep purple hair styled in a bob cut and lavender-colored eyes, resembling a delicate porcelain doll. She was looking at him with a mix of happiness and wariness, likely because of Ye Qingyu's hostility.

'That must be Ye Ziyun,' Ye Xinghan thought. The main female lead of the original story. Brilliantly talented but burdened by a tragic future. One day, she'll lose her family and everything she holds dear.

'If I'm here now, and if I'm part of this family, I'll do my best to protect them all.'

But then his eyes shifted to his sister, who was glaring at Ye Ziyun as if she were an archenemy.

'Wait, why does my sister look at Ye Ziyun like that? Don't tell me…'

'Do I have a bro-con sister?!'
