Marrying Unohana Retsu from Bleach

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Emergency mission

Explosions echoed across the Soul Society, shaking the very foundations of Seireitei. The sky, once serene, was now painted in hues of crimson and black. Fires raged across the battlefield as the Shinigami and Quincies clashed in a deadly struggle.

The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood and the sharp tang of burning flesh.

Amidst the chaos, a lone figure walked forward, his silhouette framed by the inferno behind him.

The flames seemed to dance in deference to him, a reflection of his overwhelming spiritual pressure.

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto, Captain-Commander of the Gotei 13, strode with purpose, his fiery Zanpakutō, Ryūjinjakka, radiating an aura of absolute dominance.

"Kill! Do not falter! Our Majesty guides us!" cried a Quincy officer, rallying his troops for another wave of attacks.

Yamamoto stopped in his tracks, his piercing gaze locking onto the advancing soldiers.

"Noisy," Yamamoto muttered, his voice low and laced with disdain. He turned his head slightly, sensing the arrival of others.

A single word cut through the harsh, discordant mixture of sounds, accompanied by a devastating wave of flames.

The leader of the Gotei 13, Captain-Commander Yamamoto, stood amidst the chaos, his fiery Zanpakutō, Ryūjin Jakka, reducing countless enemies to ash with each swing.

Walking calmly through the battlefield, Yamamoto's eyes scanned the area as he approached the First Division's barracks at the base of Sōkyoku Hill. He frowned. "Am I the first to arrive?"

His gruff voice barely carried over the crackling flames when a bright, cheery voice cut in. "Second!"

In a flash, Furōfushi Saitō, captain of the Sixth Division, appeared behind him, arms spread wide as if announcing her triumph. Her energetic arrival was in stark contrast to the grim battlefield.

"You're the fourth to arrive," a deep, amused voice said. A figure rose from among the charred corpses, his dark form blending seamlessly into the shadows.

Chika Shihōin, captain of the Second Division, emerged with a smirk, his movements as silent as ever.

Saitō's triumphant grin faltered. "You?! But I—"

"Actually, I was the second," Chika interrupted, his sharp gaze flickering toward the distance. Another figure crouched there, blending with the surrounding darkness.

It was Batsu'unsai Katori, captain of the Eighth Division, whose mischievous grin was visible even in the dim light.

As more captains arrived, the tension eased briefly. Chigiri Shijima of the Fourth Division stepped forward, his calm demeanor and the rise and fall of his flowing robes exuding grace amidst the chaos.

The rest followed: Danjirō Obana of the Fifth, Uhin Zenjōji of the Twelfth, and others, each making their presence known with characteristic flair. Soon, the captains of the original Gotei 13 stood assembled.

Yachiru Unohana, vice captain of the Eleventh Division, remained silent, her eerie, deadly aura radiating behind Yamamoto. She cast a brief glance at the gathered captains before resuming her quiet vigil.

"Is this everyone?" Chika Shihōin asked, his sharp eyes scanning the group.

A figure in a bamboo hat approached from a distance. Furuoki Ōtogawa, captain of the Tenth Division, arrived late but unbothered. "Tch. Took your time assembling."

The captains murmured among themselves until Yamamoto raised his Zanpakutō. The flames around him intensified, signaling silence.

Yamamoto's brow furrowed. "Araki. Where is he?"

Before anyone could respond, the ground trembled as a new wave of Quincy soldiers stormed the battlefield.

Their pristine white uniforms stood in stark contrast to the blood-soaked ground, and their relentless assault showed no signs of slowing.

"Prepare for battle!" Yamamoto commanded, his voice booming like thunder.

The captains scattered, each taking their position. Yamamoto unleashed a wall of fire, cutting off the Quincies' advance. Chika darted between enemies with blinding speed, his movements a blur as he struck down the quincys, while Kinroku moved silently, his blade slicing through the air with precision.

When the captains took action. Each unleashed their power, tearing through the enemy ranks like reapers harvesting wheat. Blood stained the ground, and dismembered limbs filled the air as the original Gotei 13 showcased their terrifying strength.

"Remember, destroy their heads or sever their limbs completely!" Nobutsuna Shigyō of the Seventh Division warned with a deep voice. "They'll use their regenerative abilities otherwise."

His reminder was hardly necessary. The captains of the Gotei 13 left no room for survival, every strike designed to obliterate their foes entirely.

Meanwhile, Saitō's movements became increasingly frantic. Her blade struck with unmatched precision, but her thoughts were elsewhere. "Araki, where are you? Don't you dare die!"

Unohana remained serene amidst the chaos, her chilling smile unwavering. She knew Araki's strength. He would not fall so easily.

_____________

Araki stood alone, facing a figure cloaked in darkness. The man's long, disheveled black hair framed his sharp features as he sat astride a white horse, his presence exuding authority.

Surrounding him were Quincy soldiers clad in white, each radiating malice.

Araki's grip tightened on his Zanpakutō. "So, the so-called Quincy Emperor himself decided to show up."

The man smirked."Araki," the man began, his voice calm yet menacing. "You possess the same power as us. Why do you side with the Shinigami?"

Araki remained silent, his eyes locked onto the man. He could feel the weight of the man's words, but he refused to waver.

The man's lips curled into a faint smile. "I offer you a choice. Join me, abandon the Shinigami, and become my son. Together, we will bring eternal peace to this world."

Araki's eyes narrowed. "You really went full Whitebeard with that line, huh?"

With no further warning, Araki activated his ability, and in an instant, the air around them erupted with spiritual energy. Araki unleashed his own power, his Zanpakutō glowing with a vibrant blue light. "Room: Piercing Wave!" he roared, sending a devastating shockwave toward Yhwach.

The Quincies scattered, and white horse let out a pained wail as the attack struck, collapsing beneath its rider. Yhwach remained unscathed, his expression unchanged.

"You dare kill His Majesty's horse?!" one of the Quincy guards shouted, rushing toward Araki. But before he could reach him, Araki's blade cut through the air, silencing the guard in an instant.

Yhwach stepped forward, his presence looming. "You have made your choice, Araki. Now you will face the consequences; I will show you the price of defying me."

Araki raised his blade, a smirk on his face. "Bring it on."

Araki braced himself; he knew the man he faced was the father of the Quincies and the most dangerous enemy the Soul Society had ever known.
