Chapter 94: Chapter 90. A Conversation with the Ancient One

Kamar-Taj established three sanctuaries on Earth: in New York, Hong Kong, and London. These temples act as anchor points for a powerful magical barrier, protecting the planet from demonic invasions from other dimensions.

However, some especially powerful demons can channel a portion of their strength to create avatars and infiltrate Earth secretly. For instance, one of the Lords of Hell or some dark mages driven by sinister plans use black magic to summon ancient demons.

These instances can be considered minor vulnerabilities in the vast protective network. Yet for Noah, this was even beneficial, as each invasion meant a new mission.

Now, he was on Bleecker Street in Manhattan, standing before an old building at 177A Bleecker Street.

"So, this is the New York Sanctum Sanctorum?"

Behind him, cars and pedestrians bustled by, the ever-busy New York going about its usual life. But Noah was in no rush—there was no school to attend or missions to complete. He had already accepted his mission last night.

Today, he was here to meet the Ancient One and ask her a few questions.

"Knock-knock~"

Noah knocked on the door of the old building and waited for someone to answer.

"Cre-eak~"

The door opened slightly, but no one was visible on the other side. Without hesitation, he stepped inside.

It was dimly lit inside, the only source of light being a large round window across the room, through which sunlight streamed into the temple's twilight. The air was still, and no cloaks hovered in midair. The only person in sight was a bald monk standing on the stairs.

Noah recognized him immediately—Wong, the future assistant and friend of Doctor Stephen Strange. Although at this point in time, Stephen was still a brilliant surgeon, yet to have his car accident or begin his training at Kamar-Taj.

"Hello, I'm Wong. You must be the guest the Ancient One mentioned, Mr. Li," Wong greeted him, folding his hands in a gesture of respect—a tradition among the Masters of the Mystic Arts.

"Hello, Wong," Noah replied, bowing slightly in return. He instantly felt a sense of camaraderie with Wong—both being of Chinese descent, and Wong's demeanor reminded Noah of comical characters from classic films.

"Let's not delay. The Ancient One is waiting for you," Wong said, gesturing with a circular motion of his hand to open a portal. A chill breeze flowed through as Noah saw an ancient chamber on the other side—the Ancient One's dwelling in the Himalayas.

Nodding at Wong, Noah followed him through the portal.

The temperature dropped sharply, but it didn't faze him. Wong also seemed unaffected, long accustomed to the harsh conditions after years of rigorous training here. Kamar-Taj was deliberately situated in such a place to toughen its practitioners.

"Noah, you've arrived," came the Ancient One's voice.

Emerging from the portal, Noah found himself in the center of an ancient temple. Sitting cross-legged on a mat before him was the Ancient One, a small wooden table in front of her with a steaming cup of tea.

Steam rose from the cup in the chilly air as she gestured for Noah to sit across from her.

"Good morning, Ancient One... Oh, pardon me, I suppose it's evening here," he remarked, realizing he was now in a different hemisphere, where time contrasted starkly with New York.

As he sat across from her, he noticed they were alone in the vast hall. The Ancient One had ensured privacy for this conversation, knowing it would involve significant matters related to the Lords of Dimensions.

"Excellent tea," Noah praised, taking a sip and savoring its aroma. It was unlike any expensive blend he had tried back home.

"Ancient One, I came today to discuss some pressing matters with you," he began, setting down the cup and preparing to get to the point.

"You see, I recently became the master of a new dimension, and since I lack experience in this area, I decided to seek your guidance. How should I wield the power of this dimension?" he asked, trying to understand how to utilize the Abyss's energy, which he now controlled. So far, he could only draw energy from the dimension, but how to wield it effectively remained a mystery.

"I am not a Master of Dimensions, so my knowledge on harnessing such forces is limited," the Ancient One replied. "However, I would advise you to train at Kamar-Taj. Here, we study the white magic of the Vishanti, a powerful trinity, one of whose members, Agamotto, is also a Master of a Dimension. Learning his spells might provide the understanding you seek."

"Study spells?" Noah pondered. In truth, that was one of the reasons for his visit. Certain spells, like creating portals or his favorite, the Mirror Dimension, seemed incredibly useful.

"Would you truly allow me to learn your spells?"

"Of course. Kamar-Taj is always open to those with talent and the will to learn, as long as they carry no ill intent," the Ancient One replied with a smile. Kamar-Taj indeed welcomed anyone capable of mastering magic. Those with exceptional gifts could grasp spells instantly, like Ned, while others without such aptitude might spend a lifetime in vain attempts.

"Then I accept your offer," Noah said with a nod, realizing this was an excellent opportunity. Confident in his talent, he sought to expand his magical abilities. Unlike other sorcerers at Kamar-Taj, who had to borrow magical energy, Noah possessed his own reserves. All he needed was to learn how to direct them.

As for the Abyss, he understood that asking the Ancient One further about it was futile. She likely didn't know how to help him master it any faster. Now, he moved to the main topic of his visit.

"Ancient One, do you know anything about the Eternals?"

The Ancient One's hand, holding her tea cup, froze momentarily before she carefully set it down on the table.

"So that's why you're here today?"

"Yes, I'd like to know what you know about the Eternals."

The Ancient One nodded and, delving into her memories, began to speak.

"Once, using the Time Stone, I did encounter beings who have lived on Earth since ancient times. Later, I even met their leader, Ajak."

"And what happened next?" Noah asked with curiosity, eager to learn what the two ancient sages might have discussed.

"Are you entertaining inappropriate thoughts?" the Ancient One teased, narrowing her eyes, sensing his wandering mind. However, she didn't dwell on it and continued, "Ajak told me about their people's mission on Earth. After thoroughly studying all members of the Eternals and confirming they posed no threat to the planet, I decided not to interfere further."

"And what do you know about the Celestials?" Noah inquired, mentioning the powerful beings. As expected, the Ancient One's expression turned serious.

"You know about the Celestials?"
