MHA: The Hero With the Sun [DISCONTINUED]

Chapter 2: Chapter 1: The Entrance Exam

The sun shone brightly over the city, casting its golden light on the sprawling campus of U.A. High School. The prestigious academy was abuzz with activity, as hundreds of aspiring heroes gathered for the entrance exam. Among them was Kenji Saito, his heart pounding with excitement and nerves.

Standing not far from him was Momo Yaoyorozu. Her elegant posture and calm demeanor set her apart from the crowd, though her presence here surprised even her. She had been offered admission through U.A.'s recommendation program, a testament to her exceptional intellect and her powerful Quirk, Creation. Yet, she had declined it.

"I want to earn my place here, like everyone else," she had told her parents when they questioned her decision.

It wasn't a choice she made lightly. Momo believed that to truly understand the responsibilities of being a hero, she needed to start on equal footing with her peers. The recommendation would have set her apart, but the entrance exam would make her an equal.

Kenji, however, didn't know this as he stood nearby, glancing around nervously. His Quirk, Solar Core, was powerful but unpredictable. He couldn't afford to mess up—not when this was his chance to follow in the footsteps of the heroes he admired.

"Excuse me," a soft, polite voice broke through his thoughts.

Kenji turned to see Momo looking at him with a kind smile.

"You seem a bit nervous," she said. "Are you all right?"

Kenji blinked, caught off guard by her genuine concern. "Uh, yeah. Just… first-day jitters, I guess."

She nodded, understanding. "It's natural to feel that way. But remember, we're all here to prove ourselves. You've made it this far, so have confidence in your abilities."

Her words were encouraging, but her presence was even more so. Kenji found himself relaxing, if only slightly.

"Thanks. I'm Kenji, by the way," he said.

"Momo Yaoyorozu," she replied with a slight bow. "It's nice to meet you."

The Written Exam

The entrance exam began with a written test, designed to challenge the students' analytical and problem-solving skills. Momo breezed through the questions, her pen moving swiftly across the page. Kenji, sitting a few rows behind her, struggled slightly but managed to keep up.

"She's incredible," he thought, watching her from a distance. Her focus and confidence were palpable, and Kenji couldn't help but feel inspired.

When the time was up, the students were ushered into a massive auditorium, where the real challenge awaited: the practical exam.

The Practical Exam

The examinees were briefed by the flamboyant Present Mic, who explained the rules. Each student would face a simulated battlefield filled with robotic enemies worth varying points. The goal was to earn as many points as possible within the time limit.

Kenji clenched his fists, his nerves returning. The thought of competing against so many talented individuals was daunting.

As the gates opened, the students charged into the arena.

Kenji unleashed his Quirk, generating a burst of sunlight that temporarily blinded a group of robots. He followed up with a focused beam of heat, dismantling them one by one. The effort drained his energy, but he pushed forward, determined to prove himself.

Momo's Resolve

Elsewhere in the arena, Momo moved with precision and strategy. She created a staff to fend off attacking robots, dismantling them with well-placed strikes.

Her decision to forgo the recommendation felt validated as she faced the challenge head-on. Every strike, every calculated move reminded her why she wanted to take this path—to understand the struggles of her peers and to grow alongside them.

As the exam progressed, Momo spotted Kenji struggling against a particularly large robot. The machine had pinned him down, its mechanical arms slamming into the ground dangerously close to him.

Without hesitation, Momo sprang into action. She created a cannon and fired a net at the robot, entangling its limbs.

"Are you okay?" she asked, pulling Kenji to his feet.

"Yeah, thanks," Kenji said, his voice breathless.

"We need to keep moving," Momo said. "There's no time to waste."

Kenji nodded, grateful for her intervention.

A Show of Heroism

As the clock ticked down, a loud crash echoed through the arena. A massive, towering robot—the zero-point obstacle—emerged, sending students running in fear.

Kenji and Momo both froze, their instincts screaming at them to retreat. But then they heard a scream.

A young girl was trapped under a pile of rubble, the zero-pointer looming dangerously close.

Kenji looked at Momo, his eyes filled with determination. "We have to help her."

Momo nodded, already formulating a plan. "I'll create a pulley system to lift the debris. Can you hold off the robot?"

"I'll try," Kenji said, stepping forward.

As Momo worked quickly to free the girl, Kenji confronted the zero-pointer. He unleashed his Sunflare, creating a blinding flash that disoriented the machine.

"Almost there!" Momo called out, her voice steady despite the chaos.

Kenji pushed himself to his limit, using his Quirk to generate an intense beam of heat. The robot's sensors overloaded, causing it to malfunction and collapse.

Momo pulled the girl to safety just as the robot crashed to the ground.

The arena fell silent, the exam officially over.

Aftermath

Back in the waiting area, Kenji sat beside Momo, exhaustion written all over his face.

"You did great out there," Momo said, offering him a bottle of water.

Kenji took it with a grateful smile. "I couldn't have done it without you."

Momo shook her head. "It was a team effort. You were incredible, Kenji."

Her words meant more to him than she realized.

As the results were announced days later, both Kenji and Momo learned that they had passed. For Momo, it was validation of her choice to join the entrance exam. For Kenji, it was the beginning of a journey that he would face with newfound confidence—and perhaps, a growing bond with someone who believed in him.
