Chapter 414: Chapter 414: Yagura - Can You Miss the Opportunity to Take Revenge on Kumogakure?
Previously, rhe Tsuchikage had extended an olive branch to form an alliance, but he was ignored. Now, with circumstances reversed, Onoki was ready to make his point. He would ensure Yagura understood that he was in no position to demand respect anymore.
Despite knowing Ohnoki's tardiness was intentional, Yagura remained unbothered. The tides had turned. The once-proud Tsuchikage, who had previously pleaded for an alliance, now found himself on the receiving end of Yagura's proposal.
Not a long-term alliance—merely a temporary war partnership.
The terms were clear: unite to strike Cloud Village, then part ways to pursue their individual interests. No strings attached.
"Mizukage, I see you've been waiting a while," Ohnoki greeted with a smirk, his tone dripping with schadenfreude. He was no longer desperate. The tables had turned, and now he was reveling in Yagura's apparent predicament. "Not so arrogant now, are you? Remember when I sought your help, and you dismissed me?"
"Yes," Yagura responded nonchalantly, his indifference cutting like a blade. He didn't rise to the bait, and his composed demeanor unsettled Ohnoki.
Ohnoki's expression soured. What's this kid playing at? Yagura's calmness irritated him. How could the Mizukage still act so detached?
"Mizukage," Ohnoki pressed, his patience thinning. "How does it feel going to war with Cloud Village?"
Yagura's answer was cool and brief. "It's fine. Nothing special."
Ohnoki's jaw tightened. Is he serious? Yagura's curt responses left no room for further prodding. "So, Mizukage, what brings you to me today? Surely it's not to talk about an alliance? After all, you—"
"Alliance?" Yagura interrupted, his expression unreadable. "No, the Mist Village doesn't need allies. I'm here to propose a joint attack on Cloud Village. That's all. I'm not interested in forming an alliance."
Ohnoki froze, disbelief flashing across his face. Is he joking?
"Why on earth would I attack Cloud Village alongside you? What's in it for me?"
Yagura's response was simple yet provocative. "Because you will."
Ohnoki's frustration boiled over. He clenched his fists, fighting the urge to strike the infuriating Mizukage then and there.
"The Mist Village and Rock Village have both suffered under Cloud Village's dominance for years," Yagura began, his calm voice cutting through the tension. "For us, it's about competing for trade routes and sea access. The Mist Village can adapt—our unique geography allows for flexibility. But can the Rock Village do the same? How many resources has Cloud Village stolen from you over the years?"
Yagura's words hit their mark. Ohnoki's frown deepened. The Mizukage's tone wasn't one of persuasion—it was an unapologetic taunt, exposing the vulnerabilities of the Rock Village.
"If you want revenge, Tsuchikage, this is your chance," Yagura continued. "Mist Village will occupy the majority of Cloud's forces, creating an opening for you. If you let this slip, you may never get another chance."
"Bullshit!" Ohnoki barked, unable to contain his anger. "Do you think I'm an idiot? This war clearly benefits Mist Village. Don't forget that Konoha and Cloud Village are allies. Do you really think Konoha will sit idly by?"
Yagura's gaze didn't waver. "No, but Konoha's resources are depleted. Their war potential hasn't recovered, and they won't go to war for Cloud Village. Even if Cloud requests support, Konoha won't risk everything for them."
"And let's not forget," Yagura added, his voice taking on a subtle edge, "the location of the Mist Village. On the vast ocean, Konoha couldn't effectively attack us even if they wanted to."
Ohnoki's face twisted in frustration. Yagura was right—Mist Village's geographical advantage was infuriating. Meanwhile, the Rock Village's vulnerabilities were laid bare.
"If Rock Village engages Cloud Village, Konoha and Sand Village are unlikely to fully commit to retaliation," Yagura concluded. "They've barely recovered from the last war. The choice is yours, Tsuchikage. Goodbye."
With that, Yagura turned and left, giving Ohnoki no chance to rebut. The Mizukage had delivered his message, leaving the decision to the Tsuchikage. Whether Rock Village joined the war or not, Mist Village would find a way to minimize its losses. If Rock joined, the conflict could be prolonged; if not, Mist would end it swiftly.
Yagura's confidence was maddening.
As the Mizukage disappeared into the distance, Ohnoki seethed. "Damn dwarf," he muttered under his breath. The urge to unleash a Dust Release on Yagura was strong, but Ohnoki restrained himself.
Alone in the sky, Ohnoki's anger gave way to contemplation. Yagura's abrasive tone aside, his points were valid.
The animosity between Rock and Cloud Villages had been brewing for years. This could indeed be an opportune moment for retaliation. But war was not a decision to take lightly. If Rock Village acted rashly, they could end up like the Sand Village—exhausted and humiliated, forced to surrender.
Ohnoki sighed, his mind racing. Is this war worth it?
The opportunity was tempting, but the stakes were high. Could the Rock Village afford to miss this chance? Or would retaliation bring more ruin than reward?
With a heavy heart, Ohnoki began his journey back to the Land of Earth, wrestling with the difficult decision ahead.
