Overlord: The Multiverse

Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Spoiled Princess

No matter how strong Rias is, her parents knew that there was no way that that Rias could beat someone immortal.

In the canon, She was able to escape from the wedding because of Issei and now she was able to escape because of me.

Well, she did have two massive advantage.

Rias continue,

"When the Rating Game became popular, the ones who climbed up the most is the House of the Phoenix. There weren't that many battles among Devils until the game were introduced. In a game where the [King] also participates, the strength of Phoenix became clearer. The House of Phoenix is the leading group among the strongest class. -Immortal. Devils realised how terrifying this power was for the first time."

Well, only their body is immortal not their mind. If you can show them the true terrior and numb their will to fight then Rias can win easily but the problem is Rias, herself, don't know the terrior so can't make Riser lose his will to fight.

"Hey, Do you think I can win against such an opponent." Rias asked.

"Yes," I said with confidence. "There are two ways you can defeat him. One is to beat him down with incredible power and the other one is to keep on taking him down until his mind crushes. The first method requires the strength of a God-class. But even after the my training, I don't think you have such power." I said bluntly.

I can sugar coat my words but I don't because Rias need to know the bitter truth not the sweet lie.

This is her life so she needs to know everything.

I continue, "The second one is to save your stamina until Raiser gets his mind crushed. Even if his body is immortal where he can resurrect his body many times, his mind isn't immortal. His mind will definitely tire down every time we defeat him. It's our win if we completely crush down the Phoenix's mind. Then he will stop resurrecting and he will fall. Well, the easiest way is to defeat him with a power that is on par with God that crushes him down with one strike which takes down both his body and mind."

...Won't both methods need a lot of effort to it pull off? Is it even possible to do something like that in our first battle? No, we have to do it. Rias thought.

"In other words we have to fight until he says 'I resurrected so much that I lost the will to fight so please forgive me', is that right." Rias asked.

"Yes,"

Oh yeah, I will ask her the question that has been bothering this whole time.

"Hey, Rias."

"What is it?"

"Why do you hate Raiser...no, more like, why are you against this marriage?"

Rias sighs at my question.

Certainly Raiser seems like a scum and is quite the womaniser, but I think she can't reject this arrangement because of that.

After all, I am also a womaniser and can be scumbag, from a different perspective.

"...I'm a "Gremory"."

"Huh? Well, you certainly are but that didn't answer my question."

"No. I didn't re-introduce myself. I'm a Devil from the House of Gremory, and that name will follow me to wherever I go."

"Do you hate it?"

"I feel proud of it. However, this is also something that is a burden to me. Everyone looks at me as Rias from the Gremory. I can't have them look at me simply as Rias. That's why I'm enjoying my life in the human world. They don't know about the Gremory the Devil. Everyone looks at me as who I am. I really like that feeling. I never felt something like this in the Devils' society, and I never will now on as well. The only time I can enjoy my life as myself is when I'm in the human world."

Rias had a distant look in her eyes, a mixture of longing and sadness.

"Such a pitiful girl. Dear, you should take her to bed and relieve her sorrows," Death's voice suddenly echoed in my mind.

"I was really starting to wonder if you had forgotten about me. Where were you?" I mentally responded, trying to keep my composure in front of Rias.

"Just observing," Death replied nonchalantly. "You seem to be getting along well with the devils. Quite an intriguing bunch, aren't they?"

Smiling at Death's suggestive comment, I focused back on Rias. "I understand," I said gently. "Living under the shadow of such a prestigious name can be suffocating."

Rias nodded, her expression thoughtful. "It is. Sometimes it feels like no matter what I do, I'm always just Rias Gremory."

"But Rias," I continued, my tone more serious, "if you want to make a name for yourself, you have to work hard. Harder than the training you're doing right now."

She looked up at me, determination flickering in her eyes. "I know. And I will. I won't let my family name define me. I'll prove myself through my own efforts."

"She is spoiled Princess, isn't she?" Death's voice echoed in my mind, laced with amusement.

"Well, that's one of her shortcomings," I replied mentally. "Considering she is not yet an adult, that's not a problem. She can always correct her shortcomings."

"And without some shortcomings what is life. If all the living beings are perfect then can we even call that living. So let her be selfish because when she grow up and took responsibility of her own then moment like this put a smile her on face, recalling how silly she was. Just like me, when I was playing Yggdrisil."
