Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Gladion's Ambitions
The forest had been peaceful just moments ago. Gladion's training session with his Pokémon had been interrupted by a thunderous explosion that shook the very ground beneath his feet. In an instant, his training mindset shifted to battle readiness.
"Everyone, back to Pokéballs," he commanded, recalling his team with swift movements.
'Why was there an explosion of this magnitude in the forest? Is it a wild Pokemon?' Gladion analysed the situation
'No such a strong Pokemon would be in centre of the forest area. Not near the outskirts. Something is wrong - terribly wrong.' Gladion thought as he headed towards the direction of explosion with his Psychic senses spread around him to alert him of any attacks coming his way.
He was ready to teleport in an instant at the first sign of danger.
---
An hour earlier, in an abandoned power plant near the Vermillion City...
In a dimly lit briefing tent near the abandoned power plant, Archer's voice crackled through a secured communication device.
"Project Thunderbolt is now in its final phase," Archer's voice commanded. "Zapdos represents more than just a legendary Pokémon. It's a strategic asset that could revolutionize our capabilities making us so powerful that the government would not dare to mess with us. Commence the mission with this in mind. Executive Archer Out!"
With that communication was cut with Archer as the room fell in silence.
A senior commander of Team Rocket, Commander Vance and also the one responsible for the mission, stepped forward. He was someone that had served under Giovanni in the army and was inspired by him and was completely loyal to Giovanni's cause of making Kanto great again.
He began explaining the mission details to the dozen team rocket squad captains.
"Our intelligence suggests Zapdos has been using this abandoned power plant as a nesting ground for the past three years," Vance announced.
"We've developed a multi-stage capture protocol," He explained, revealing a complex diagram on the table. "Our primary objective is total electromagnetic suppression followed by targeted biological neutralization."
"We have built Electromagnetic Containment Rings. Massive circular devices designed to generate a localized field that could temporarily disrupt a Pokémon's electrical abilities. Each ring was powered by advanced capacitors capable of absorbing and redirecting massive electrical discharges."
"We also have Frequency Disruptors, Specialized devices that could emit targeted sound and electromagnetic waves designed to disorient and weaken Zapdos."
"And finally we have Capture Nets. They are made from a revolutionary alloy that could dynamically adjust its electrical resistance. These nets could absorb and neutralize electrical attacks while maintaining structural integrity."
He looked at every team leader with a fierce gaze "You have all been given your tasks. We can't afford to make mistakes now."
The room buzzed with a mixture of excitement and tension. Team Rocket operatives checked and re-checked their equipment. Dozens of specialized Pokémon were prepared for deployment - each selected specifically to support the mission.
"Remember," Vance instructed the teams, "our priority is controlled capture. Minimal damage to the specimen. Leader wants Zapdos alive and functional."
A young captain raised a hesitant hand. "Sir, what if Zapdos resists?"
Vance's eye flickered. "Then we escalate. We would overwhelm the legendary Pokemon with our numbers. But we would suffer a lot of casualties in that case, Legendaries are no joke."
Everyone had sweat covering their brows as they remembered the tails of the Pokemon war where Legendaries laid waste to continents.
As the teams prepared to move, the abandoned power plant hummed with activity. Electrical systems came online. Capture mechanisms were primed. Dozens of Pokémon waited in specialized containment units. Other Pokemon ready in the Pokeballs of Team Rocket officials.
Dozens of operatives moved with military precision, surrounding the electric plant with specialized equipment.
"The target is near to the wall to the east according to the sensors," a senior grunt announced. "Begin the capture operation."
The equipment was nothing short of technological marvel - a nightmare of human engineering designed to subdue legendary Pokémon. Massive electromagnetic containment rings stood ready, each one capable of generating a field that could temporarily neutralize a Pokémon's abilities. Supplementing these were specialized pulse generators that could emit frequencies designed to disorient and weaken.
Insulated capturing nets made of a unique alloy hung nearby - crafted to resist electrical discharges and withstand incredible amounts of energy. Cooling systems surrounded each piece of equipment, preventing overheats during extreme capture attempts.
Zapdos, the legendary electric bird, had made this abandoned power plant its sanctuary. But sanctuaries could be violated, and Team Rocket was about to prove just that.
A Ursaring was ordered to fire a hyper beam which destroyed the section of the plant nearest to Zapdos.
And there she was Zapdos, one of the three legendary birds of Kanto in all its glory.
But before she could even fly away to air,Team rocket commenced their plan.
The first pulse wave hit. Zapdos screeched - a sound that was part fury, part pain. The electromagnetic rings began to contract, attempting to suppress its power.
But legends are not easily contained.
With a thunderous cry that split the air, Zapdos unleashed thunder so pure, so powerful, that it overloaded every piece of equipment. Electricity arced wildly, transforming the power plant into a chaotic battlefield of sparks and destruction.
The explosion that followed was both beautiful and terrifying - a testament to the legendary Pokémon's unbridled power.
*BOOOOM*
While all the team rocket equipment was tested, they could not test the power against the power of legendary Pokemon and they greatly underestimated it.
When Gladion arrived at the scene, the first thing that struck him was the scale of the confrontation. Dozens of men stood with a massive number of Pokemon surrounding something.
But when Gladion saw the men having an R shaped logo, he was shocked to his core.
'Team Rocket,' he thought. His previous world's knowledge collided with this reality. 'They're real. They actually exist.'
A cascade of emotions washed over him. Fear. Excitement. Determination.
'Fear, Why am I fearing Team Rocket and Giovanni?' Gladion thought as his eyes had a determined look.
'I'm going to be the most successful businessman and gym leader this world has ever seen,' he thought, a slightly maniacal grin spreading across his face.
Team Rocket? Giovanni? Team Magma? Team Galactic? They were amateurs. Mere children playing at world domination.
'I've got knowledge from another world,' I know technologies. Business strategies. Market trends that haven't even been introduced in this world yet.'
In Gladion's eye, he saw the future. The Vortex Business Empire.
Pokémon Social Media? Check.
Advanced Evolution Technologies? Absolutely.
Prism Scale Business? Just the beginning.
"I'll make Giovanni look like a corner store owner," Gladion muttered to himself, then burst out laughing before he covered his mouth so that no one would notice him.
'I'm not just going to be a Gym Leader. I'm going to be THE Gym Leader. The one they write history books about. The one who makes more money than entire regions combined. Giovanni or Team Rocket would be nothing in front of me.'
He imagined himself in a massive office, surrounded by rare Pokémon, multiple computer screens showing global market trends.
'I'll have a Milotic-themed business suit with Mystique rapped up around me,' he thought, then immediately cracked up at the ridiculousness of the idea.
"I'll be so rich," he whispered, "that Giovanni will need to make an appointment just to see me."
He couldn't help but chuckle internally. Here he was, daydreaming while dozens of criminals were just near him.
'If I survive this, I'm definitely going to write a business case study about this,' he thought as he focus back on the scene.
'Now what are Team Rocket doing here in such a number. It would give me great pleasure to ruin their plans. After all me and Giovanni are going to be competitors soon.' Gladion analysed at the situation.
