A whole day went by in the blink of an eye.
Pikachu, who had been tossed into the machine by Gardevoir to recover, suddenly sprang back to life, full of energy. The group began preparing to recharge their batteries, setting their plan in motion for tomorrow.
It was surprisingly easy to acquire Evan's ID card and Trainer certificate. All they needed to do was sneak in and retrieve it the next day.
Meanwhile, Gardevoir made an excuse.
"I'll take Pikachu and the others out for field training tomorrow," it said, adding a request. "Can you give Gallade a bag to carry Poké Balls?"
Everything was falling into place. They planned to leave on Pidgeot and were ready to execute their plan the next day.
Evan, still delighted over the recent evolution of two of his Pokémon, didn't notice anything unusual about Gardevoir. After finishing the day's work, he wahed up and went to bed, completely unaware of the unfolding scheme.
The next morning, while Evan was having breakfast, Pikachu and Charmander sneaked into his room. They rummaged through a drawer and grabbed his ID card and Trainer certificate. With their objective complete, they dahed off to Gardevoir, who immediately vanihed with Teleport.
Reappearing at the back mountain, Gardevoir hid the ID card and Trainer certificate in Pidgeot's temporary nest. With the task done, it calmly returned to the Pokémon daycare, acting as if nothing had happened, and continued eating its energy cubes.
When Evan returned, Gardevoir stood up and began communicating with her.
"Garde~!"
Evan was taken aback for a moment. "You want to go out?" he asked, confused by Gardevoir's sudden request.
Gardevoir nodded and explained its reasoning.
"Pikachu and the others have reached their limit. I think they need to battle wild Pokémon outside to keep improving. Charmander is also close to evolving, so it's the perfect time to take them both."
Evan considered Gardevoir's words carefully. They seemed to make sense.
"Alright," he agreed. "But make sure to come back for dinner tonight."
Seeing that Evan didn't suspect anything, Gardevoir smiled cheerfully. Then it made another request, asking for a satchel to carry the Poké Balls.
Evan was briefly puzzled. Why would it need to take the Poké Balls out? Still, when he thought about Gardevoir's dazzling dedication, he relented.
he went back to hisroom, retrieved a satchel, and placed the Poké Balls inside. Handing it to Gallade, he said, "Here you go. Make sure not to lose the Poké Balls."
Gallade nodded solemnly, slinging the satchel over its shoulder.
Evan smiled at the sight. "That looks pretty good," he said with a nod. Then he waved them off.
"Alright, off you go. Remember to come back early—I've got work to do."
With that, Evan returned to making energy cubes, his Lurantis hurrying after him. He had no idea what his Pokémon were truly up to.
Gardevoir and Gallade, having already succeeded in their mission, exchanged a knowing glance. They couldn't help but smile as their plan moved forward.
The two siblings, along with Pikachu and Charmander, vanihed using Teleport. When they reappeared, they had already reached the back mountain near Pidgeot's nesting site.
Evan, who could sense their movements, didn't think much of it, remaining focused on his work.
At the mountain, Gardevoir met up with Pidgeot and placed Evan's ID card and Trainer certificate into Gallade's satchel. With everything in place, Gardevoir, Pikachu, and Charmander returned to their Poké Balls, leaving Gallade to take the lead.
Gallade climbed onto Pidgeot, who took off immediately, soaring toward Zenith City with all its might. Their goal? The gym challenge.
These Pokémon had taken it upon themselves to tackle the adventures Evan had been hesitant to pursue.
As for Pidgeot, it dreamed of one day gathering a flock of Pidgeys and standing on the world stage, basking in the admiration of people everywhere. The mere thought filled it with determination.
Spurred on by its dreams, Pidgeot unleashed a Sonic Boom in the air, its golden feathers gleaming as it disappeared into the horizon like a streak of light.
Zenith City Gym
The gym was unusually quiet today. The hot weather had left the staff lethargic, with little activity to keep them engaged.
The two ladies at the front desk, nearly dozing off, were startled when a figure suddenly appeared before them.
It was Gallade.
Having arrived outside the city's forest, Gallade had recalled Pidgeot to its Poké Ball and teleported the rest of the way, avoiding unnecessary attention.
Gallade was well aware of how humans were drawn to Shiny Pokémon. Its experience of living in the wild with its Shiny sibling had taught it to avoid unnecessary risks.
Appearing abruptly at the front desk with a satchel, Gallade caught the staff completely off guard.
The two ladies stared, speechless, at the 5.3-foot-tall Pokémon standing confidently before them.
What's going on? Why has a Gallade suddenly shown up here?
Gallade wasted no time, opening its satchel and presenting Evan's ID card and Trainer certificate. Using telepathy, it communicated directly with the startled women.
"I'm here to earn the Trio Badge on behalf of my trainer," it announced calmly.
The sudden voice in their minds left the two ladies utterly shocked.
They exchanged uneasy glances.
One of them hesitated before asking, "Are you serious?"
This Gallade was here on behalf of its trainer? Where was the trainer? Was this some kind of joke?
The Trio Badge wasn't something to be taken lightly, and the trainer not showing up in person felt disrespectful to them. For a moment, they felt slighted.
"Is there a problem?" Gallade asked, its mental voice unwavering. "Is it required for the trainer to be physically present?"
The question gave the women pause.
Was there such a rule? After some thought, they realized there wasn't. As long as the challenger's Pokémon participated, it didn't explicitly require the trainer to be present.
Still, this situation was unprecedented.
While the two front-desk staff tried to figure out how to handle this unusual scenario, Gallade began considering alternatives.
Would it need to find a Ditto to impersonate Evan? Or maybe a Zorua if it came to that?
Its musings were interrupted when one of the ladies decided to call the gym leader. Picking up the phone, he dialed the internal line to inform them of the strange challenger.
