Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Pressure and Power
Chapter 4: Pressure and Power
The sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm orange glow across the small village. The gentle breeze rustled the leaves of the nearby trees, but the sounds of nature were drowned out by the low murmur of Randy and Tom talking in hushed tones. The past few days had been filled with training, teaching the baby—no, the kid—how to use his growing strength. But now, something had changed. They were no longer dealing with just any normal baby. No, this kid was different. His powers were growing exponentially.
I floated above the village, my eyes scanning the horizon as I tested my newfound abilities. My body was more mobile now, thanks to my Spring Step. I could leap twice as high as I once could, landing with the quiet precision of a predator stalking its prey. My Telekinesis was also improving. I could move objects—rocks, sticks, even entire trees—without breaking a sweat. But the real change had come in the last few days: I was getting stronger faster than I thought possible. And today, something was about to test that strength.
"Kid," Randy said, his voice interrupting my thoughts. "You ready for another hunt?"
"Yeah," I replied through my telekinetic link, not needing to speak aloud. "Let's do it."
We headed toward the forest again, my feet barely touching the ground as I hovered behind Randy and Tom. There was a sense of purpose now. I wasn't just hunting for food anymore. I was hunting to test my limits.
As we entered the forest, the usual dense canopy of trees blocked out much of the light. I could smell the damp earth beneath my feet and hear the occasional rustling of wildlife in the brush. Randy motioned for me to stay close. There was something dangerous out here today—something bigger than we had dealt with before.
Tom scanned the area, his sharp eyes catching every movement. "I think we're in the right spot," he muttered. "Predator's den."
Randy nodded. "We'll need to be careful. This is no normal beast."
My heart started to race. For the last week, I had been training, improving my speed, precision, and strength. But nothing had tested me like this. I was itching for a challenge.
And then it appeared.
Out of the brush emerged a massive Warthorn Boar, its tusks sharp and gleaming in the sunlight. The beast was at least three times the size of the boars we had hunted in the past, with thick, matted fur that seemed to soak up the sunlight like a sponge. Its eyes were bloodshot, and a deep growl rumbled in its throat as it locked eyes with us.
"Stay back," Randy warned, his hand gripping his spear tightly. "This thing is tough."
I didn't respond. Instead, I dropped to the ground, scanning the beast. My mind was working quickly. The Warthorn Boar was fast and powerful, but it was also a brute—slow on its feet if it didn't have enough momentum. I grabbed a nearby rock, barely the size of a grapefruit, but with the weight of 0.1 pounds.
Spring Step.
In one smooth motion, I launched myself into the air, my body almost weightless as I pushed off the ground. I was high above the beast now, watching it charge toward Tom and Randy.
Now or never.
I focused all my energy into my hands, feeling the power of Telekinesis coursing through my fingertips. I concentrated on building pressure inside the rock. Telekinetic Compression. The stone started to vibrate under the immense force of the pressure I was placing on it. The molecular structure of the rock began to bend and twist, and I could feel the energy inside it building up.
I need speed. I need force.
I launched the rock with my hand, and the moment it left my grip, I released the pressure. The stone shot forward like a bullet, its speed magnified by the explosive release of energy I had built up inside it.
The rock tore through the air with incredible velocity, slamming into the Warthorn Boar's side with a sickening crunch. The force of the impact sent the boar crashing to the ground, its body twitching before it lay still.
The beast didn't get up.
I hovered in the air, my breath ragged. That was my first test of this technique, and it worked.
Ding!
[First Major Kill: Warthorn Boar]
[+25 EXP Earned (25/500 to Level 3)]
[+1 Skill Point Earned!]
I couldn't believe it. I had just killed a beast with a single rock.
"That was insane," Randy breathed, his voice full of disbelief. "Kid, you're… you're not a baby anymore."
Tom nodded, his eyes wide. "What did you do? How did you do that?"
I floated down to the ground, the adrenaline of the fight still pumping through my veins. "I… I used my Telekinesis to build up pressure in the rock. When I threw it, I released that pressure, making it shoot out faster than I could have physically thrown it."
Randy rubbed his chin, looking impressed. "Smart kid. We're gonna need to teach you how to aim with that more precisely, but damn… You've got potential."
I nodded, my mind already racing. This was just the beginning. I could feel it—my powers were growing, and with each day, I was becoming more dangerous. But there was something else. I needed more.
As we began to skin the boar, I couldn't stop thinking about the future. My time in the village was growing shorter. I was already outpacing Randy and Tom's expectations, and soon enough, I'd be too powerful for them to keep up with.
What came next?
Stay in the village? There was safety in that. The villagers were kind, and Tom and Randy had become something of a family to me. They had taught me how to survive, how to fight. But they couldn't help me grow much further. And I knew it.
Look for bigger challenges? That was the most logical choice. If I wanted to become stronger, faster, and more dangerous, I would need to push myself beyond the limits of this small, peaceful village. But where would I go? Who could I challenge? And what would it take to truly break free of this place?
I had a lot of questions, but there was no clear answer. What I did know was that I wasn't going to sit idly by. I would find more challenges, bigger beasts, stronger opponents. Maybe I could even find people who could teach me more than Randy and Tom had.
I was still a baby, but I felt like I was something more. Something stronger.
The next level was within reach.

The day had ended with the kill, but I couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning. Tomorrow, I would continue to train, to push my limits. I would rise above this village and become the strongest version of myself.
The real challenge awaited.
