Chapter 264: [Son of Laplace!]
[Son of Laplace/Ignirus' POV!]
…
'Between right and wrong, oftentimes, I had to choose things that I hated more. And even though it hurt me to my deepest core, I am still glad that I did it.' — Ignirus, Son of Laplace.
…
The bearer of day appears, carrying the light that ignites all lands off its sluggishness. It falls on my face, making me turn my eyes up a bit, looking through the window, at the burning sun at the horizon.
"Itchy," I complained as usual before sighing as I looked through the stack of papers at the desk. Sitting there all night made my body a bit sore but still I continued. There was still work to be done, there was still work to be finished.
But still, I put down the pen momentarily before relaxing my back against the chair, my eyes drifting towards the silver mirror, showing my demonic reflection, making me wonder again if this is what my father looked like? Perhaps he did? Or perhaps I looked more like my mother?
A red coloured hue spread all over my body and two black horns protruded from my head. Unlike other demons who had straight horns, mine were curled up a bit, often confusing the demons of my origins.
Even my eyes, carrying a blue hue over the crimson glow, made me wonder just what kind of demon was I? What kind of demon were my father and mother?
'Father. Just wait… I will surely resurrect you!' I affirmed myself once again. Closing my eyes, I then tried recalling all the information that I had collected about my father. And in the end, a sigh escaped my mouth I shook my head.
"I still need more information. More power," I spoke as I messaged my head before opening my eyes slowly.
Picking up the pen again, I straightened my back. Putting up the special glasses that let me work even in the presence of the sun, I put them up and then concentrated on the list of things that I needed to finish today.
[Priority Tasks:
-Meeting Adam Wesker/ Phantom/ Demigod-Killer
-Holding a meeting with the Dark Embassy
Secondary Tasks:
-Finishing the Core Artifacts
-Reviewing the Data about the Forbidden Dungeon
-Reviewing the Data about the Eclipter
-Analysing the Ancient Array from the Divia Civilisation]
"It's finally that day, huh?" I looked at the task and a slight hopeful smile appeared on my face. I don't know how much he knows about the situation of my father, but given how confident he was at the border town, and how he dealt with the entire situation, it would be great if he could provide us information about the dark dimension.
"Even if he doesn't know about my father, as long as he can help us reduce the cost to reach the dark dimension, meeting him will be worth it," I mumbled as I wondered what he would ask for in exchange.
As I started getting lost in thought again, by habit, I started finishing off the rest of the paper work as well. Seconds turned into minutes, and then into hours, before the sun reached its peak, shining as brightly as possible.
-Knock Knock!
"Sir, they have reached the shore," a voice came from outside the office room. A feminine voice belonging to my secretary, one of the Dark Mages that had been following me for quiet a long time now.
"Sherlyn. You can come in," I spoke out loud, asking her to enter the room, which she politely did by slowly opening the door and then closing it without causing any disturbance.
Behind her black square frame glasses were her green eyes showed black hue, showing her dual nature of magic involving dark and life magic. Truly a peculiar combination that one may not find anywhere else in this world.
She had long black hair, dyed green at the edges, and wore a similar green black dress that covered her entire body. It complimented her fair skin, and despite not being the most beautiful woman in the world, she still compared fairly. At least as long as we don't involve Angels and Gods.
"All the things have been arranged as you had asked," She spoke politely as she walked a few steps before stopping about 5 meters away from me. Carrying a small grimoire, she waited for me to respond while I gave it a bit of a thought and answered,
"How long before they enter the meeting hall?" I asked.
"Less than 20 minutes," she calculated and answered.
Standing up, I then stretched a bit before looking outside the window. It was a pleasant sea view that had a calming effect. Coupled with the sound of the sea waves from a distance, it was the perfect place to work at.
"Let me get changed then," I spoke before Sherlyn nodded and then moved towards my drawer, picking up one of the formal attires for me. Since I wasn't interested in this get-up about meetings, Sherlyn took up the task of preparing me for all the meetings in my life. Formal or informal, occasion never mattered.
Since she was rather enthusiastic about it, I didn't mind it.
Picking up a silver black three piece, she placed it on the bed. And then moving towards me, she walked me a bit away from the chair, before undressing me from top to bottom. And then slowly she helped me wear the entire dress one by one.
"Thank you again, Sherlyn," I smiled at her.
"It is my honour, Sir," she answered with a polite smile.
Looking in the mirror, I did seem better in these dresses. Though these standards don't matter in the demon realm, I think here among the humans, they hold quiet the importance.
"Let's go then," I spoke, making her nod before we both walked outside the room, and moved towards the hall room at the edge of this small mansion that I have built over the years.
Because of the lack of presence of the Water Goddess in this Kingdom, this place was never found by any of the Gods, helping me hide my presence from all the divine beings for so long. Only those who were allowed to know were the ones who knew about this place.
A few minutes of walking and we reached outside the room where the meeting was going to take place.
"I'll be heading inside now. Make sure nobody enters the mansion in my absence," I spoke as I entered the space, leaving Sherlyn behind.
The reason for me entering alone was because this space was special. It was laced with thousands and thousands of Arrays, each designed to protect me and harm anyone who tries to harm me.
Nobody can harm me, hide things from me or go against me in this space. Calling myself a God would be too prosperous, but I was still somewhat closer to that as long as I was in this space.
This was another reason I dared to meet new people who were not my followers or who were outside my circle. Another reason I was able to survive this long in this cruel world where everyone wanted to kill me.
And as I reached the stone chair around the large circular stone table and sat on it, I saw the red light emitting from one of the entrances, signifying the entry of someone from the portal connected to that area.
That someone appeared through the portal, wearing a white T-Shirt over black jeans. A far too casual dress than what I was wearing.
Adam Wesker appeared through the portal as he looked at me with deep pity. His eyes were dull yet bright. There was a smile on his face that seemed to be containing eons of exhaustion in it.
And he walked towards the stone chair opposite to me and sat. Before he asked a question that was strange in many ways, odd in even more.
"Do you love your Father, Ignirus?"
My eyes narrowed at him as I wondered how he knew about my name. Did Yemir tell him? Adam's Brother did save his kids life so, maybe? Though I should still confirm it.
"How do you know my name?"
His smile flickered, as he closed his eyes for a brief moment before speaking," your father told me," and then he opened them up again ever so lightly. His deep blue eyes, that seemed to be seeing through my entirety, made me shiver a bit. But even then… his words shook me more.
"You met my father?!"
My heartbeat was rising as I wanted to ask him a dozen questions now, but still I should be calm. Being calm is essential in a negotiation…
It's hard.
"Yeah. Wasn't really a pleasant meeting. Though back to my question, answer me Ignirus, do you love your father? Even if he decided to leave you behind? Even if he decided to forget you, along with everything else in this world?" He spoke. He asked. He looked at me, deep into my soul, focusing on the question that seemed less weird and more grave now.
It was as if the fate of an entire world was dependent on that question.
"What are you talking about? He is my father… of course I love him," I spoke with great conviction as I looked at him.
"For what reason?" He asked again, and it irked me.
"Does a child need a reason for loving his father?" I answered.
"What if he fails to recognize you after you find him?" He asked as he seemed a bit more hopeful than before. His smile that was heavy before became more lighter, more warmer. For some reason, I felt like he was carrying a story far heavier than mine.
"Then I will make sure he remembers me. I will feed it into his memory the name of Ignirus. So much that he will never forget it for the rest of his life," I gave my answer.
"What if he is about to destroy the entire world?" He asked it as if he were stating the truth and wanted to know my opinion on it.
"For what reason?" I asked this time. Nobody destroys the world just because.
"Because there was no more peace in it," he seemed to be calm now. His eyes seemed to be thinking now, as if he found some crucial information he began thinking about it. How do I recognize those eyes? Because that's what I do when I find something that is important.
"Then I will find peace for him. A place where he can live freely, happily. It is the least I could do as a son for my father," I spoke with a smile forming on my face before I asked,
"Tell me Adam. When and where did you meet my father?"
Perhaps he has ways to talk to my father? Or perhaps visit him in the deepest parts of hell? Still, it's good to hear that my father is alive. Now I just need to find a way to bring him here. Then we can worry about the future, in the future.
"That is not important. What's important is that came here to find my answers and deliver two pieces of news to you," he stood up from his chair before he continued,
"Two weeks from now, I will be returning here and taking you to your father. There is a war among the Gods going to happen soon. And since I can't let Laplace die, I am going to use everything in my arsenal to change destiny. Even you. So, Ignirus," he looked at me with a slight sad expression before finishing his words,
"Be prepared for the worst."
And then he vanished from there without leaving a trace, while I simply stood there blankly staring at the empty space in front of me.
"Huh? What?"
I spoke after a momentary silence, my voice a bit shaken as I took a few seconds to register his words.
"What did he mean by meeting my father?" I questioned.
"A war among the Gods?" I questioned again.
My mind was a mess as it began recollecting all the information that it had. And moments later, something clicked. A few more seconds and I started formulating everything in my mind.
"Did he know?" I questioned with all the seriousness that I had.
And then I moved out of the space where Sharlyn was waiting for me.
She looked at me, and her eyes narrowed at me before she asked,"what happened? Did something go wrong?"
"Call all the Elders of the Dark Society back as fast as you can," I commanded as I moved towards my room. Sharlyn noticed the seriousness in my voice as she nodded before she took out a blue coloured artifact. The artifact was shaped like a blue coloured rock, only to be used in emergencies like when the base was attacked by the Gods, or something of equal importance.
And then she crushed the rock with one hand before speaking,
"I have sent the message. They should be here within this week," She spoke before asking," should I urge them to return even faster?"
I opened the door to my room before reaching towards the racks of books placed on the cabinet. There were some black coloured files present there, and taking a particular one out of there, I asked,
"Do you remember the rumor about an Angel escaping from heaven?"
"Near the Coast City?" Sharlyn asked and I nodded before speaking," turns out. She was more than just a bit special. We are mobilizing our entire force except you, me and Yemir to that place for the next two weeks."
I passed on the files to her as she began reading it. Flipping through the pages as fast as she could, she then analyzed the entire data before asking,
"If she is that much more special then there will be more Gods than Angels there. Chances of even Higher Gods appearing. Is it really important for us to send our entire unit there?"
And I nodded before answering her queries," yes. A War is Coming, Sherlyn. A war between the Gods and my Father, Laplace." Read exclusive adventures at empire
