Reborn in Konoha; I Think I’m Cultivating Immortality

Chapter 268: Chapter 268

When one is completely engrossed in something, time seems to fly by.

Two months passed quickly as Hui immersed himself fully in his creation.

"You... you're completely obsessed."

In the Senju clan's residence, Tsunade looked helplessly at Hui, who was lost in thought beside her.

Ever since Hui began secluding himself to develop that jutsu two months ago, he had been utterly absorbed in it. Even during meals, he often spaced out, thinking about the technique.

Naturally, this had led to Tsunade being neglected during that time.

Fortunately, Tsunade was a sensible and understanding woman who deeply loved Hui, so she tolerated his behavior. Otherwise, if it had been another woman, she might have thrown a fit.

"Time sure flies. In just a blink, you'll be taking over Granduncle's duties, and in a month, you'll officially bear the title of Hokage," Tsunade said, her lips curling into a beautiful smile, as if reminiscing about some beautiful memories.

Her words brought Hui back to his senses.

Indeed, in just one month, he would become the Hokage.

Creating the Technique was important, but so was becoming the Hokage. He needed to adjust his mindset and step into this role with a fresh perspective.

As the Third Hokage of Konohagakure, Hui aimed to not only change people's physical potential but also reshape their thoughts and beliefs.

This was arguably even more crucial.

If a person's mindset couldn't keep up, then gaining great power would only lead to destruction and harm rather than benefit the world.

If people approached Hui's cultivation system with their current mentality, his efforts to transform the world would ultimately fail.

It was like what happened with Hashirama Senju. Although Hashirama transitioned the Warring States period into the era of ninja villages, the essence of war among ninjas didn't change much.

The small-scale clan-based wars of the Warring States simply became large-scale village-based wars in the ninja village era.

The primary benefit of Hashirama's system was that it allowed the Five Great Ninja Villages to enjoy a decade or two of peace between the major ninja world wars.

Hui, however, didn't want to see ninja village wars evolve into planetary-scale Sage wars.

Therefore, before changing people's physical capabilities, Hui intended to first change their way of thinking.

To achieve this, Hui needed to use his position as Hokage to reform the village's education and political system.

"You're right. Time has flown. We're almost twenty years old now. Looking back, it feels like we were kids just yesterday.

"Back then, you were always shouting about being the Hokage's women. And now, your dream is about to come true," Hui said with a grin.

Tsunade was momentarily puzzled and tilted her head.

"Why do you say my dream is coming true? When did I say that? You're the one wanted to become the Hokage!" she asked, confused.

Hui smirked.

"Think about it. I'm becoming Hokage, and you're my woman?"

Tsunade's face flushed at his words. She gave him a playful punch.

"You're so cheeky! Keep this up, and I'll fight you for the Hokage position myself!" she said, shaking her fist.

Hui grabbed her hand and teased, "You? Fight me for the Hokage's title? Dream on. Just accept your fate as the Hokage's woman!"

Before Tsunade could retort, Hui leaned in and kissed her.

That silenced her.

The sky was a brilliant blue, with white clouds lazily drifting by. Beneath an ancient tree, on a stone bench shaded by its leaves, a couple shared a tender kiss.

In the distance, a young boy spotted the scene and immediately turned away, muttering to himself as he walked off.

"Ugh, my eyes! Absolutely shameless! The world is in decline, and young people today have no sense of propriety."

As he muttered, a memory seemed to flash through his mind. Glancing back cautiously, he confirmed the couple was still in place before sprinting away.

After running a safe distance, he let out a breath of relief.

"Phew! I almost forgot about my brother-in-law's freakishly good hearing. If he heard me, I'd be toast!" he exclaimed, patting his chest in relief.

The boy was Nawaki.

Inside his body, the Nine-Tails couldn't help but mock him.

"You're such a coward, kid. And don't kid yourself—do you really think that little monster didn't hear you? You're underestimating him. Trust me, you'll regret what you just said soon enough."

The Nine-Tails smirked.

Nawaki froze, a chill running down his spine. He glanced nervously around, but everything seemed normal.

Realizing he'd been played, he glared at the Nine-Tails.

"Shut up, you stupid fox! You think I'm scared? You're underestimating the Emperor of Trees! Besides, I wasn't scared—I just didn't want to upset my sister by fighting my brother-in-law."

With an air of confidence, he continued, "I've awakened Wood Release now! My Wood Dragon, Wood Golem, and True Several Thousand Hands are no joke!"

Last month, Nawaki's body had finally undergone a transformation, awakening the legendary Wood Release of Hashirama Senju.

The news shook the entire Senju clan and even reached the upper echelons of Konoha.

The revelation was kept a secret from the general populace. After all, with Hui around, Konoha didn't need another deterrent against rival villages.

Nawaki's Wood Release was treated as a hidden trump card, a backup plan in case something ever happened to Hui.

Under Tobirama's guidance, Nawaki began training in the true power of Wood Release. The recognition went to his head, making him bolder—even with the Nine-Tails.

The Nine-Tails, however, wasn't offended. Instead, it laughed harder, which only made Nawaki uneasy.

Every time the Nine-Tails reacted like this, it meant…

"I'm sorry, brother-in-law! Please go easy on me!"

Without hesitation, Nawaki turned around, bowed deeply, and apologized, completing the sequence in one fluid motion.

Nearby, Hui's Shadow Clone couldn't help but twitch his lips at the sight.

Watching Nawaki grovel, the clone muttered, "This brat is getting more shameless. His skin is almost as thick as that certain someone from the Uzumaki clan."

Feigning ignorance of Nawaki's apology, the clone approached him and said, "Alright, show me your True Several Thousand Hands. Let's see what you've got."

A shiver ran down Nawaki's spine.

"No! Please, brother-in-law!"

The next day, Hui stepped into the Hokage's office. From that day onward, he began handling Hokage duties in preparation for officially taking the mantle in a month.

At the same time, Tobirama Senju issued an official announcement to the entire village:

In one month, the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, will retire from his position, and Mochizuki Hui will assume the title of the Third Hokage of Konohagakure.
