Chapter 219: Chapter 219: The T5 Battle Planet
On Federation Date 7501, September 7th, today marks the maiden voyage of the T5 Battle Planet. Feng Mo arrived at Dock One early, gazing out at the giant black-gray sphere floating in space, with a faint, thin blue shield covering its surface.
The sphere was approximately a tenth the size of Beast Roar's primary planet. Through radar, one could see that beneath the blue shield lay countless starfighter drones and arrays of interstellar laser cannons.
Feng Mo led Han Peipei, Xing Shuwen, and Alisa down from the star shuttle. The four first entered the command room of the Storm God, which then launched toward the Battle Planet. From there, they used photonic transport technology to reach the Battle Planet's main control room.
"Commander, dark energy matrix engines are ready. Awaiting orders!" Han Peipei reported, fully in work mode.
Seated in the captain's chair, Feng Mo looked at the radar scan and calmly commanded, "Proceed."
"Commander, we are starting Battle Planet's maiden voyage. First test: full-speed mode. Dark energy matrix engines at maximum output, accelerating to 300-star knots!"
This 300-star knot speed was Battle Planet's maximum, and reaching this full speed marked its first, and most crucial, test. If the ship couldn't handle this, it would be deemed a failure and would need to be rebuilt.
Feng Mo ordered a half-hour voyage to rigorously test Battle Planet, as typical test runs last only ten minutes.
"Commander! Dark energy matrix engine systems are all functioning perfectly. Hull stability is optimal, energy output is stable, and there are no anomalies!"
"Commander! Preparing to test shield systems, weapons systems, and more…"
All subsequent tests went smoothly. The Battle Planet's performance, structure, and force fields were flawless.
After four hours of successful tests, Feng Mo relaxed. He turned to his crew, saying, "Excellent work, everyone. From now on, Captain Han Peipei will command the Battle Planet. I hope all of you will assist her to bring glory to the Storm Empire on the battlefield!"
"Commander!"
Han Peipei gasped in surprise, covering her mouth in disbelief. Although she had anticipated being assigned a captaincy or fleet command, she hadn't expected such a high starting position from Feng Mo.
Currently, the Storm Empire no longer lacked competent commanders, making career advancement more challenging than before.
Commanding the Battle Planet was equivalent to leading any high-ranking fleet. For Feng Mo to appoint Han Peipei to this position meant she had gained his utmost trust.
Han Peipei, who had served as Feng Mo's aide for nearly four years, felt an immense sense of fulfillment in reaching this milestone.
Noticing her reaction, Feng Mo patted her shoulder, saying, "Battle Planet is in your hands now. I expect to see outstanding performance in the next battle; otherwise, I may have to reconsider your command."
"Rest assured, Commander! Peipei is determined to become an exceptional captain."
Feng Mo smiled and continued to paint an ambitious picture. "Confidence is great, but remember, don't be overconfident. After a few years leading Battle Planet, you may get the chance to command an entire fleet. That's my promise to you."
"Yes, Commander!"
Han Peipei responded with even greater enthusiasm. Feng Mo left Battle Planet's control room, and while he had arrived with four people, he returned to Dock One with only three. Back at the dock, he turned to Xing Shuwen and said, "Shuwen, I'll need you to temporarily serve as my aide. You've seen how the Storm Empire is entering a high-growth phase. I'm confident we can elevate it to a Level Six civilization within three years, so your day of vengeance is not far off."
After laying out his vision for Han Peipei, Feng Mo quickly did the same for Xing Shuwen. Although she had empathic abilities and could sense some of his thoughts, this time, Feng Mo was sincere in wanting to help her.
Women tend to respond to such sincerity. When they sense unwavering honesty, they start to trust, and when that trust deepens, they're not far from falling in love.
"Yes, Commander, Shuwen will be at your service as your aide. Please take care of Shuwen."
Feng Mo's lips twitched slightly as he looked at the taller Xing Shuwen. He was unsure who needed to be careful with whom here. Xing Shuwen, a statuesque beauty, had a habit of coquettishly acting around him, despite her seemingly dominant nature.
Contrasts can be charming, though. Each of Feng Mo's three close companions had this contrast. Ai Er could switch between sternness and allure, Kylan between grace and playfulness, and Chu Yunjian between elegance and uninhibited spontaneity.
Each had unique appeal, all of which Feng Mo appreciated. Back in his office, reclining in the captain's chair, he checked the Spark mission panel. He had two tasks: helping Xing Shuwen restore her kingdom—though the Storm Empire still lacked the influence for that—and taking on the Yunmeng and Moonfrost Empires, a mission made trivial by Battle Planet's strength.
However, Feng Mo knew he needed justification and Federation approval, though these were well within reach.
Federation Date 7501, September 12th.
Today, the Storm Fleet broke routine, not patrolling the Snowhawk System's borders but instead entering the interstellar space leading to the Yunmeng System. This sudden maneuver put the three T5 fleets stationed at the Yunmeng capital on high alert.
All three T5 fleets advanced into interstellar space to confront the Storm Fleet. Knowing that Feng Mo's forces included stealth bombers and interstellar warp ships, they were on high alert with main cannons charged and interceptors ready to fire.
Despite the tension, Feng Mo's fleet made no aggressive moves. Then, a stealth bomber appeared on the three T5 fleets' radar. Immediately, the opposing commanders gave the order to open fire.
In an instant, a laser net enveloped the T5 Mystic Bird, but it had anticipated this response. It instantly disengaged engine restrictions, accelerating to triple its regular
speed, although a few shots managed to hit, shattering its shield.
