655  Is chaos better than order? (part 10)

Seeing the captain freeze due to his previous words, Eric loudly laughed before saying.

"Don't worry, leaving aside brother Aster who is in a league of his own, I'm not even as strong as my rampaging bull-like older sister as of current".

Naturally since Eric's voice is loud like a thunder, the previous was heard by Tiana who was about to leave the battlefield after having obtained what came out of the spatial distortion assigned to her team, making her nearly trip in the air.

'R-Rampaging bull… I'll kill that idiot later!', inwardly cursed Tiana to then continue her way alongside Dahlia who was doing her best to not laugh out loud, but was gloriously failing as the soft giggles that escaped from her, suggested.

Eric who ignored the grim future that awaited him later, then added.

"That being said, I wouldn't have joined brother Aster in a mission if a quartet of trashes that increased their realms merely relying in resources could be a problem for me", Eric's eyes glowed in that fierce ash burnt blue energy before his whole body started also radiating it, the gaze in his eyes changed for a split of a second to a battle obsessed one.

The enemy captain who was frozen until a second ago, was suddenly hit by a realization like a bolt out of the blue.

'This guy has two different types of spirit energy and he can completely turn them off and on as he pleases!', he has been lost in regards of how come he couldn't feel such a fierce element from Eric earlier when he scanned it, which is what made him believe he was all appearance without any real substance.

And only now he understood that it's not like Eric had a concealing treasure or technique, since he isn't a soul cultivator, so even if he did it would be bound to have a flaw that could be detected by others who looked seriously into it, like he did.

He of course couldn't find traces of that fierce blue spirit energy if the enemy didn't use it at all, and relied on the other one he had which was not eye-catching at all, and that wasn't a weakness like he thought as it worked along his other spirit energy.

'But then, why the hell didn't he kill us from the very beginning without letting us making him bleed?', wondered the captain, as if Eric could read his mind, his voice reached the captain's ears a second later.

"Have you ever seen how "barbaric" a spirit beast can become when wounded, even herbivores would bite back if cornered so what can you expect from a carnivore?", he said, that ash burnt spirit energy which has been coming out of Eric's body gathered behind of him taking a vague form without a specific form to then turn back into a shapeless violent mess.

"Ahhhh!", the captain on the other hand screamed as he turned around to flee in an erratic way, which made Eric's eyes return to normal he then pointed his right palm at the fleeing enemy.

"Booom!", a shockwave was released as the lizard shot its tongue like a bullet, extending far into the battlefield until it landed on the back of the captain, piercing him and coming out of his chest, killing him on the spot.

"Phew, not a bad result even if I say it myself", said Eric as he let out a relaxed sound, the phantasm of the lizard retracted its tongue bringing the corpse of the captain towards Eric who then casually stole the spatial ring before the lizard disappeared letting the now looted corpse fall to the ground.

Unlike Kana and some of the other girls, Aster didn't teach to loot the enemies to Eric, that wild friend of his even played bandit with the enemy forces of the Asher family back at his native planet, he had the looks to be one after all.

Aster whose vertical pupils were turning back to their normal shape, couldn't help but frown, unlike others he did manage to discern something out of the vague shape that the violent spirit energy which Eric radiated, before the captain fled in terror.

It was some sort of spirit beast with a relatively humanoid figure, an incredibly muscular chest and pair of arms slightly similar to those of a gorilla but without fur and blue hardened skin with black metallic spikes that came out of its body, unfortunately not only was it but a mere flash, but the phantasm wasn't complete, Aster could only see the upper body and the arms, no head nor lower body.

'If I remember correctly, he can integrate one beast material per major realm division, which means he should have two as of current and yet he only used the one I gave him, meaning the first one he absorbed should be the one from which that strange spirit beast originates, he didn't even use it though that was just the aura radiated by the material he integrated with himself, and it was also a really big one as it covered his spine and ribcage all the way to his neck and shoulders', thought Aster.

It didn't escape Aster's eyes that he had never heard a spirit beast who looked like that, sure it's not like he knows everything about the spirit beasts of the four Heavenly Quadrants, but at the very least he knows about some of the strongest and most dangerous spirit beast races in three of the four Heavenly Quadrants, since Lilia has told him about them.

Though that dragon mother of his, kept most of the stories of her days with her sisters a secret for some reason, she made an exception on anything that could help keep her belove son informed enough to be safe/prosper when they returned to the high ranked Stellar Systems.

'It was probably something given to him by Felicia, but I guess she won't tell me about it even if I ask, I can still confirm a few things about his attribute and spirit energies though…', Aster who was lost in his thoughts was brought back to the real world by the familiarly amused voice of the energy constitution mother, in other words Felicia who could tell he was "thinking about her" thanks to said constitution.

'A certain someone's spirit energy "told" me you were thinking about me, are you not satisfied with just teasing Tia anymore~', she jokingly said, to which Aster chuckled before answering in kind.

'I was just analyzing what managed to "see" with these dragon eyes of mine', just like how Felicia could discern some interesting things thanks to her ability to "read" other people's spirit energy, Aster could see hidden things with his dragon eyes,

'Humph, can't you let a lady win for once…', said Felicia with a feigned angry voice to then add.

'Ahem, back then when you asked, I told you that child wanted to keep his powers a secret until he reached a certain point, so I can tell you now'.

Aster inwardly nodded, it's not like he didn't want to ask Eric himself, but that wild friend of his isn't exactly good at explaining stuff, while Felicia as carefree and playful as she usually is, takes these kinds of things quite seriously so her explanation will be way more detailed than Eric's.

'Mm, well to begin with and as you have surely already noticed, Eric does indeed have two different attributes and spirit energies, the first one is earth related and is called "Solid", in exchange for having zero external manifestation, it reinforces Eric's body from the inside, it's a defense-oriented attribute'.

That's why the captain and the other enemies thought Eric was mediocre in the energy path, his Solid attribute had no external manifestation in other words he couldn't use it to create earth element unlike others, which was made it arguably harder to use than Alexandra's attribute.

On the other hand, it was quite useful for defense purposes, as it protected Eric's innards, which is not common at all, normally defense type attributes protect externally as they are manifested and used for armor type spirit techniques like the Iron Skin used by those guys from the Iron Hall.

'In case you wonder, as Solid has zero external manifestation capacity it also means that Eric can't use any offensive nor defensive spirit techniques or martial arts', added Felicia, which Aster didn't find strange.

Having zero external manifestation capacities meant that his spirit energy couldn't leave where they inhabited, be it meridians, bones, flesh, blood and the like, so he couldn't "release" attacks nor protect his outer body, hence why the attacks from the enemies made him bleed when they landed on his skin which wasn't covered by clothes or armor.

But the result was that they couldn't pierce past his skin as his Solid attribute was concentrated below it, it was weird but incredibly strong as defense, that being said Eric would have been limited to act as a defender instead of a "barbarian" if he had remained like that.

'I guess this limitation is what made him avoid coming to missions with us, right?', he asked to which Felicia answered.

'Mmm, actually this started to change after he went with you to that secret realm at Zartia, something happened when he met that little fiancée of his which gave him a little "push" to awaken his body constitution'.

'Prior to that, his only offensive means were the extra strength brought by the beast materials he integrated thanks to the technique contained in the Beast Skeleton manual, as well as a one-time all-out attack using a "beast technique" created by exhausting the material which had to be replaced after that'.

'Not to mention that he ended up considerably battered when that happened since the strength output wasn't controllable… in part that's why Tia beat him up regularly to make his body get tough enough to endure the stress, though he also deserved it most of the times~', she said.

Aster chuckled as he nodded in response, he earlier noticed that whatever Eric used to manifest the phantasm of the lizard didn't seem to be a spirit technique nor a martial art, but looked more like the innate abilities used by spirit beasts, like the mist illusions or the forest flame used by the little wyrm for example.

In case you wonder what's the difference, well, the innate abilities of spirit beasts use both physical energy and spirit energy, since they don't cultivate the paths separately, remember that spirit beasts that hadn't gained human form aren't considered cultivators by the heavens and so their situation is different than that of cultivators, lacking aspects like the capacity to use spirit treasures, spirit sense and the like.

Of course they do have their own advantages as well, the previous is one of them, as their innate abilities are already integrating more than one path into them, meaning that they are stronger than spirit techniques or martial arts in most cases.

Not only that but a lot of martial arts and spirit techniques are created by inspiring in the innate abilities and so they are technically inferior copies at the beginning until they have been revised, adapted and improved through generations, unless they were created by a genius monstrous enough to make them good enough from their starting concept.

In exchange spirit techniques and martial arts also have their good points, as in they can be constantly modified and improved, instead of being perfectly usable from the very beginning unlike innate abilities, they have probably higher future potential, that doesn't mean it is properly exploited though, but the chance is there.

'So those "beast techniques" are somewhat in the middle of both spirit beast's innate abilities and spirit techniques and martial arts', Aster concluded.

'Mm, but it was limited to once originally, however, after his body constitution developed and also thanks to the material refined with those flames of yours… he developed a second type of spirit energy which can be used to not only to power but also modify and create more than one beast technique out of a single material, you already saw the result earlier, he used two attacks whose strength could equal that of Genesis Manifestation realms', said Felicia to which Aster nodded.

When Eric used "Tail Cleave" and "Tongue Arrow", his strength went through the roof, it was momentary but still, it would have normally caused stress in one's body, enough to end up in a bad state to say the least.

This is because Eric's normal battle prowess is around the early stage of the Mortal Transcending realm without using any techniques or spirit weapons, which is not bad at all considering he is at the early stage of the Star Axys realm in his main path.

He spikes up two major realms in a single go when using a beast technique, this in what offensive means, his defense is actually enough to take on attacks from Sea of Knowledge realm enemies without any technique nor defensive treasure, since the attribute which was active in his body since he was born completely focused in defense.

'Wait a moment, I get that the purity resulting of using Rigel's flames played a big part in the fact that he became able to create more than one beast technique out of a single material, but are the resulting beast techniques tied to the grade of the material, because if so that's crazy', said Aster, which made Felicia shake her head in response.

'Yes and no, it's more like the limit of the beast techniques that could be created out of said material is that grade, but it all depends on Eric's creativity and what his body can endure, for example even if he were able to integrate a Law Integration material, that doesn't men he could use a technique with that level of strength… well he could but the result would most likely be death', she said, to then add with a genuinely grateful voice.

'Which is why, I have to thank you, since now that he has that second attribute, not only he can derive around four beast techniques out of a single material which means he can defend himself way better than before but also the toll on his body when using them is laughable in comparison with how it originally was, like I said during our date, just proximity to you seems to affect us positively and when actively helped the result tends to be amazingly good'.

'Humph, at least she does recognize my darling's awesomeness~', said Lilia who was of course listening to every single word using the exclusive "channel" of a star maiden, while Felicia who was playing with fire by suppressing her realm to talk through spirit transmission with Aster, despite the fact that he was within the battlefield, meaning that if the distortions considered her to be interfering, she would receive retaliation.

Lilia on the other hand was perfectly safe as the connection used to by the star maidens and Aster to communicate with each other, is practically impossible to detect by third parties, according to Rya, similar to the mind space.

Of course, since she is a Mortal Transcending and she isn't really interfering at most she would receive a strong shock but her life wouldn't be in danger, however it was still a risk which she took as she couldn't wait to talk with and thank Aster, that's how grateful she felt, also it was cute that she tried to distract him from asking about Eric's first integrated beast material, so Aster decided not to pry into that… for now.

In any case, it was probable that she would ask him to help Eric refine it with his Rigel flames, at some point, knowing Felicia she must have a good reason not to speak about it, since she has already trusted him with a lot of the secrets of hers and Tiana's body constitutions, heck she brought him into her secret place which is connected to her inner universe, it was the same as saying she trusted him with her life.

The vice-captain scanned Sofia from head to toe before speaking with a disdainful voice.

"One shouldn't take it against others, just because they are better looking than you", her words weren't too ugly but the poisonous voice tone which she used was open for everyone to see.

She didn't call Sofia ugly because that would be a lie, in fact as far as facial features went, she could be considered rather pretty, however it is also true that her physique, personality and overall aura is not really on the feminine side, she is not only quite tall for a girl her age reaching 1.8 meters of height being the closest among the young girls to the tall ladies of the family like Lilia, Sarina and Felicia.
