Ch 06
**The Sole Heir of the Fallen World, Chapter 6**
The villager’s dagger repeatedly stabbed the goblin skirmisher’s thigh.
The strikes were weak, only managing to scratch the surface, but it was enough.
The skirmisher, annoyed by the villager hovering around, couldn’t focus on Hank Yul.
That distraction was significant.
Now, Hank Yul could deal with the scout leader without interference from the skirmisher.
The scout leader seemed confused, perhaps surprised that the skirmisher wasn’t helping.
Its expression looked slightly dazed.
Then again, with its monstrous appearance, Hank Yul wasn’t sure if he was reading its face correctly.
“Finally, it’s just the two of us.”
Hank Yul smirked and walked toward the goblin scout leader.
Perhaps intimidated by his confidence, the scout leader took a step back.
“Die!”
Hank Yul rushed forward, swinging his broken sword.
*Thwack!*
The broken blade pierced through the goblin scout leader’s neck.
「You have defeated the ‘Corrupted Goblin Scout Leader.’」
「You have obtained a Crimson Mana Stone.」
Even though the scout leader was defeated, there was no time to rest.
Hank Yul turned his body and charged toward the goblin skirmisher.
「You have defeated the ‘Corrupted Goblin Skirmisher.’」
「You have obtained a Yellow Mana Stone.」
「You have obtained a Refined long sword.」
The mana stones and a sharp, refined longsword were left behind where the skirmisher had fallen.
Hank Yul collapsed to the ground in exhaustion.
“Hahh…”
He had come dangerously close to death countless times.
His mental strength felt completely drained.
Taking a deep breath, Hank Yul suddenly remembered something as he glanced at the spring.
‘It’s supposed to boost mental strength. Would it work on me too?’
With that thought, he approached the spring and took a drink.
“…Wow.”
He couldn’t help but let out a gasp of amazement.
The mental fog that had clouded his mind cleared up as if the clouds had lifted from the sky.
The effect was undeniable.
‘I’ll need to drink this regularly during battles.’
With that in mind, Hank Yul turned to look at the villager.
The villager stood there holding the dagger, staring blankly at him.
“Thanks. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
As Hank Yul mumbled those words, a notification appeared.
*Ding!*
「You have discovered new growth potential in the villager.」
「A hidden class has been revealed.」
「You can use 100 mana to evolve the villager into a ‘Warrior.’」
「You can use 100 mana to evolve the villager into a ‘Farmer.’」
The options for the villager’s potential classes appeared before him.
Hank Yul blinked as he stared at the message.
‘…So villagers can have classes too?’
This was unexpected.
Then again, maybe it wasn’t so surprising.
Looking at the villagers, they didn’t seem divine at all.
They looked more like mannequins shaped out of light.
But if they could gain classes and grow stronger from there…
‘Then I guess they *are* godlike in a way.’
Hank Yul fiddled with the mana he had and decided to use all the mana stones he had to nourish the stump.
‘Money can come from the spring. Right now, my abilities need to grow.’
Hank Yul’s ability was tied to the world itself.
The stronger the world became, the greater his chances of survival.
「The Crimson Mana Stone has been converted into 200 mana.」
「The Red Mana Stone has been converted into 100 mana.」
「The Yellow Mana Stone has been converted into 500 mana.」
「Current Mana: 947」
After investing all the mana stones, he had almost 1,000 mana remaining.
Hank Yul used 100 mana to turn the villager into a warrior.
「The villager is evolving into a Warrior.」
「The evolution will take 12 hours to complete.」
Now, he had around 800 mana left.
With that, Hank Yul used some spare mana to summon four more villagers.
*Boing!*
*Boing?*
*Boooiiing!*
*Bo-boing!*
The villagers appeared and began circling Hank Yul.
Leaving them behind, he turned to look at the sprout.
「The sprout’s growth has been completed.」
Just in time, the sprout’s growth was finished.
「As the sprout grows, new abilities are unlocked.」
「You can use 200 mana to create a small farm.」
Seeing the ability unlocked by the sprout’s growth, Hank Yul’s eyes lit up.
‘Finally, something useful.’
If he could grow an apple tree, there was no reason he couldn’t make a farm.
Without hesitation, he used his mana to create the farm.
「Select the location for the farm.」
「You can use additional mana to move the farm to a new location.」
In Asgard, mana was versatile.
Even the farm’s location could be changed as long as he had mana to spend.
This flexibility made deciding on the farm’s location much easier.
Hank Yul set up the farm a short distance away from the stump.
With that, his remaining mana was reduced to 607.
He used 100 more mana to turn another villager into a farmer.
「The evolution will take 12 hours to complete.」
Once again, the evolution process required 12 hours.
The villager undergoing evolution transformed into a ball of light and rested beside the stump.
Since it took time to complete the process, Hank Yul didn’t evolve all the villagers at once.
‘I need villagers who can fight in the upcoming invasions.’
The more fighters he had, the better.
Even if they couldn’t kill the goblins, just distracting some of them would be helpful.
「500 mana is required for the sprout’s next growth.」
Hank Yul sighed as he read the message.
He didn’t hesitate for long.
He didn’t feel particularly attached to his mana.
After all, he could get mana stones by defeating goblins…
‘And I can just buy mana stones if I have money. They’re expensive, but they’re available.’
Even outside of invasions, there were ways to obtain mana stones.
「5 hours remain until the sprout’s next growth is complete.」
Five hours…
If he endured one more invasion and waited another two hours, the growth would be finished.
‘What should I do now?’
Hank Yul glanced at the longsword in his hand and thought for a moment.
He still had over three hours until the next invasion, and it would take even longer for the villagers and sprout to finish evolving.
‘I don’t feel like doing any Hunter work outside.’
Reality was different from Asgard.
In the real world, injuries didn’t heal instantly like they did in Asgard.
If he suffered a fatal wound, he would actually die.
So he had no intention of doing any activities outside.
‘…Maybe I’ll just sell the spring water.’
The more money, the better.
And the spring water was unlimited for him.
‘I could buy seeds and do some shopping while I’m at it. The timing should work out.’
With that thought, Hank Yul returned to reality.
But when he saw his smartphone vibrating on the desk, he let out a groan.
“Right, I still have my part-time job.”
Even though he had registered as a Hunter, he hadn’t quit his part-time job yet.
The first thing he needed to do was quit.
Throwing on a jacket, Hank Yul headed to the convenience store.
After all, he wasn’t going to quit without showing his face—that would be rude.
“Welcome… Oh, Hank Yul?”
The manager inside widened his eyes when he saw him.
“Your legs… they’re fine?”
“Yeah, it happened,” Hank Yul replied with an awkward smile, glancing at his legs.
“How?”
“I awakened. And my legs were healed because of it.”
“Oh… I see. Congratulations.”
The only explanation that made sense for his recovery was awakening.
There was no need to lie about it.
“So, uh, I need to quit my part-time job.”
“Yeah, of course. That makes sense. You awakened, after all.”
The store manager didn’t seem upset.
An awakening and the recovery of paralysis.
Those two things alone were enough to leave him stunned.
“For now, it’ll be tough to replace you… Can you work for about a week longer? I’ll try to find a new part-timer by then.”
“Yes, I understand,” Hank Yul replied with a nod.
A week was a reasonable amount of time to continue working.
Though the invasions took up some of his time…
Hank Yul’s shifts were only 2 to 3 hours long anyway.
With his previous lower-body paralysis, working any longer than that had been impossible.
—
Three hours passed, and the next part-timer arrived for her shift.
“…Oh?”
Her eyes widened as she looked at Hank Yul’s legs.
“Oppa, your legs… they’re fine?”
“Yeah, they’re healed.”
“Wow, congrats… or should I say sorry? I’m not sure what to say,” she stammered.
Hank Yul chuckled lightly at her confusion.
“‘Congrats’ works. Thanks.”
“…Okay.”
When he smiled, the part-timer stared at his face, her expression slightly dazed.
“I’m heading out now. Take care.”
“…Huh? Oh, okay! Get home safely!”
Hank Yul nodded and was about to leave when she called out to him in a hurry.
“Oppa!”
“Yeah?”
“What are you doing tonight?”
“Tonight? I don’t really have any plans. Probably just resting at home.”
“Then, after my shift ends, do you want to grab dinner together? We’ve worked together for a while, but we’ve never eaten together before.”
Hearing her suggestion, Hank Yul scratched his cheek and thought for a moment.
She had barely acknowledged him before.
She rarely even returned his greetings.
Her sudden change in attitude was surprising and didn’t feel particularly pleasant to Hank Yul.
“Sorry, I’m really tired.”
With that, Hank Yul left the convenience store.
“People really do change like that?”
He heard her mutter something behind him, but Hank Yul ignored it and returned to *Asgard*.
「The invasion has begun.」
The timing was perfect.
Hank Yul, along with his villagers, grabbed their weapons and faced the goblins emerging from the rift.
This time, the number of goblins was much greater than in the previous invasion.
Despite that, there was no fear on Hank Yul’s face as he glared at the goblins.
“Let’s go.”
Hank Yul charged toward the goblins.
With two additional fighters joining him, the battle felt much easier than before.
After defeating all the goblins, Hank Yul converted the newly obtained mana stones into mana.
He wanted to grow the sprout further, but its current growth wasn’t complete yet.
“Maybe I’ll sell some spring water.”
Returning to reality, Hank Yul searched his house for water bottles.
For a moment he paused.
‘Would selling it in plastic bottles be a bit… cheap?’
Common plastic bottles.
Selling a potion in those just didn’t seem right.
Hank Yul checked the internet to see how other potions were sold.
Potions started at a minimum of 100,000 won and could go up to hundreds of millions of won.
Even the cheapest ones came in fancy glass bottles.
Looking back at the plastic bottles he had, Hank Yul put them down.
‘I don’t know much about marketing, but selling it like this doesn’t feel right.’
If he was going to sell something, he might as well do it properly.
Thinking that, Hank Yul browsed online for delivery services.
‘Oh, this place even engraves designs on glass bottles.’
After some searching, Hank Yul purchased 30 bottles that reminded him of old science lab containers.
The delivery would take one day.
During that time, Hank Yul endured three more invasions and managed to grow the sprout one more time.
With its second growth, the sprout didn’t gain any new abilities, but the spring’s size increased significantly.
Finally, the glass bottles arrived.
Hank Yul filled them with spring water and looked down at the bottles.
「Odin」
This would be the name Hank Yul used when selling potions on the Hunter Market.
