Chapter 13: Chapter 13: A failed attempt
Kizashi, noticing his son's excitement, smiled warmly and said:
"All right, Kiseki, first mimic my posture. Focus and try to feel something warm and malleable near your stomach. It's hard to explain, but once you try to sense it, you'll understand what I mean."
"Okay, Dad!" Kiseki replied enthusiastically, sitting in the same position as his father and closing his eyes to concentrate.
Kizashi watched his son proudly as he followed the instructions. However, after two hours, Kiseki still hadn't managed to unlock his chakra.
No matter how much he tried, he couldn't feel anything. Frustration began to grow inside him. Over and over, he thought to himself: "Why can't I do it? Don't tell me I'll be like those beings who have chakra but can't use it. I refuse!" His determination only grew with each attempt, but the results remained unchanged.
Two more hours passed. Despite his best efforts, Kiseki still couldn't make progress. Finally, Kizashi broke the silence:
"Kiseki, let's head to the hospital to see your mom and little sister."
"Just a bit longer, Dad! I feel like I'm so close!" Kiseki said, his eyes still closed and fists clenched.
Kizashi smiled softly and gave his son a gentle tap on the head.
"You can't expect to unlock it on your first try, Kiseki. You're only three years old, almost four. It's very early to unlock your chakra. I didn't do it until I was seven."
Kiseki let out a long sigh, wanting to argue but knowing his father was right. Finally, he stood up and said:
"All right, Dad. Let's go see Mom and my little sister."
As they left the basement, Kizashi performed the hand sign again to seal the entrance. Noticing his son's disappointment, he tried to lift his spirits.
"Don't worry, champ. We'll practice every day for four hours. How does that sound?"
Kiseki nodded, though his expression still showed some sadness.
"How about I buy you a blueberry dango?" Kizashi offered with a smile.
At that, Kiseki's mood brightened instantly.
"Yes, Dad!"
While walking through Konoha, Kizashi bought the treat his son loved so much. Kiseki savored each bite, his earlier frustration fading away. Suddenly, a loud shout echoed nearby:
"Now this is youth!"
They turned and saw a man in a green jumpsuit walking on his hands while performing acrobatic flips. It was Might Guy.
Kiseki observed how some ninjas and civilians looked at Guy with mockery, while others openly laughed at him. He couldn't help but think: "This man, whom everyone laughs at now, will one day almost defeat Madara when he reaches the power of the Six Paths. Then again, I can't blame them. Who does something so embarrassing and yells about youth in the middle of the street?"
He chuckled quietly and continued eating his dango. Kizashi, meanwhile, also laughed softly, though not mockingly.
When they finally reached the hospital, they knocked on the door to Mebuki and Sakura's room. A soft voice invited them in.
The moment Kiseki saw his mother, he ran toward her and wrapped her in a tight hug.
"I missed you, Mom," he said, his tone tinged with sadness.
"I missed you too, sweetheart," Mebuki replied, hugging him back. "But here's the good news: I'm being discharged today."
"Really, Mom?" Kiseki asked, his excitement returning.
"Yes, really," Mebuki said with a smile as she stroked his hair.
Kizashi watched the tender interaction between his wife and son from a corner, his heart filled with joy.
Before they could continue their conversation, a soft cry caught their attention. They all turned to look at the newest member of the family.
Kiseki's face lit up as he approached the incubator.
"Don't cry, little sister. Your big brother is here now," he said, making silly faces to cheer her up.
Sakura, who had been crying, let out a small laugh at his goofy expressions. She stretched out her tiny arms, though they could only graze the glass of the incubator.
Mebuki and Kizashi watched the scene with hearts brimming with happiness. They couldn't help but feel like their lives were complete. They had a beautiful family, two adorable children, and, with the end of the Third Great Ninja War, a hard-earned peace.
Kizashi's thoughts briefly wandered. "Kiseki's chakra isn't normal. If he truly has the clan's lineage, unlocking his chakra will be a challenge. It's not like water—it's like a diamond: extremely resistant, but once shaped, unbreakable."
He shook off his worries for now and chose to focus on his family.
The rest of the day passed peacefully. As Mebuki and Kizashi were about to tell Kiseki it was time to leave so Sakura could rest, he spoke up first:
"Dad, I'm ready. My little sister needs her rest. Let's go home!" Kiseki said with a big smile as he took his father's and mother's hands.
Kizashi chuckled softly.
"All right, champ. Let's go."
Mebuki added with a warm smile:
"Yes, sweetheart."
And together, they left the hospital, ready to face whatever the future held for them.
