Chapter 29: Price of Immortality

Jay's world was consumed by light as the shadows shrank back, but the battle was far from over. The light was powerful, but it wasn't enough to banish the darkness for good. The weight of immortality still pressed down on him, like a stone crushing his chest. He could feel the tug of the shadows, always there, always waiting for a moment of weakness.

"You can't escape it," the demon's voice rasped in his mind. "The price of immortality is not just the shadows—it is the loss of everything that makes you human."

Jay's heart twisted. He had already lost so much—his past, his humanity, and now even his connection to the world he once knew. He was alone, isolated by the very thing that had given him eternal life.

He glanced at the orb in his hand, still glowing with the faintest light. It was his only hope now. With a deep breath, Jay stepped forward, determined to face whatever came next.
