Wanda Maximoff Multiversal Harem Hunter

Chapter 50: Passage To Athens

The gentle hum of the ship's engines reverberated through the thin metal walls of their cramped cabin. Wanda Maximoff sat cross-legged on the small cot, staring at the flickering bulb above her. The air was heavy with salt and the faint scent of oil, mingling with the subtle creaks of the freight ship as it cut through the Aegean Sea.

"This is cozy," Natasha Romanoff said, her voice laced with sarcasm as she sat down on the other cot, leaning back against the wall. Her knee brushed against Wanda's, the limited space forcing them closer than usual.

"I've been in worse," Wanda replied, offering a faint smirk. "At least no one's shooting at us."

"Always a plus," Natasha quipped. She stretched out, her posture deceptively relaxed. "I don't think S.H.I.E.L.D. has ever booked me anything this luxurious."

"You can thank yourself for that," Wanda said, her tone light. "You're the one who secured this passage."

Natasha shrugged. "It's what I do. Connections have their perks. Athens is as good a stop as any before we make it to America. And a freight ship like this? No one's looking for us here."

Wanda nodded but didn't respond immediately. The events of the past days weighed heavily on her mind. They had left the Middle East in haste, Hydra's shadow still looming over their steps. This ship, though modest and isolated, offered a rare moment of peace—a chance to regroup.

The ship swayed unexpectedly, throwing Wanda off balance. She reached out instinctively, her hand landing against Natasha's arm. Natasha chuckled, steadying her.

"Careful there," Natasha said, her tone playful. "We don't want you breaking something before we even reach Athens."

"Thanks," Wanda muttered, her cheeks flushing slightly.

Natasha grinned, leaning back again. "So, any deep, dark secrets you want to share while we're stuck here?"

Wanda gave her a sidelong glance. "I think you'd have more of those than me."

Natasha's expression softened, her playful demeanor giving way to something more reflective. "Maybe," she said. "But I think we've both seen our share of betrayals. Lost people we cared about."

Wanda nodded slowly, the weight of Natasha's words settling between them. "Yeah… Pietro was all I had after our parents died. Losing him—" She paused, her voice catching. "It broke something in me."

Natasha reached out, placing a gentle hand on Wanda's knee. "I know how that feels. Trust me."

Wanda looked up, meeting Natasha's gaze. "You've lost people too, haven't you?"

"More than I can count," Natasha admitted, her voice tinged with regret. "It's always the ones you trust the most. People you think will stand by you, no matter what. And then… they turn on you."

"Men," Wanda said bitterly, her tone sharp. "Always men."

Natasha's lips quirked into a wry smile. "Yeah. Men have a way of letting us down, don't they?"

Wanda let out a soft laugh. "They really do."

The tension in the room shifted, the shared understanding between them easing some of the weight they carried. Wanda leaned back, letting herself relax for the first time in what felt like weeks.

"You're strong, Wanda," Natasha said after a moment. "Stronger than most people I've met. But strength doesn't mean you have to carry it all alone."

"Sometimes it feels like I don't have a choice," Wanda admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "Everyone I've ever trusted is gone. Except for you, I guess."

Natasha smiled faintly. "Well, I'll try not to let you down."

Wanda's lips curved into a small smile. "Good. Because I think I'm stuck with you for now."

"So," Natasha said, breaking the silence. "About those fighting stances I promised to show you…"

Wanda raised an eyebrow, her lips curving into a teasing smile. "You mean the ones where you pin me to the ground and tell me I'm doing it wrong?"

Natasha chuckled, shaking her head. "Careful, Wanda. You might just be provoking me into showing you a move or two."

The ship swayed again, and Natasha stood, offering a hand to Wanda. "Come on. I'll show you the basics. No pins, I promise."

Wanda took her hand, letting Natasha pull her to her feet. The small room left little space for movement, but Natasha made it work, positioning Wanda's hands and feet with gentle precision.

"Like this," Natasha said, stepping closer to adjust Wanda's stance. Her fingers brushed against Wanda's wrists, sending an unexpected shiver up her arm.

Wanda tilted her head, her eyes locking onto Natasha's. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

"Maybe a little," Natasha admitted, her grin widening.

The tension between them grew, an electric charge filling the small space. Wanda's breath hitched as Natasha leaned in slightly, her lips curving into a mischievous smile.

"Careful, Maximoff," Natasha said softly. "You're starting to look like you might enjoy this too."

Wanda's cheeks flushed, but she didn't pull away. "Maybe I am."

The moment lingered, the sway of the ship and the distant sound of waves the only noise between them. But before anything could happen, the ship's horn blared, announcing their arrival in Athens.

Natasha stepped back, her grin softening into something more genuine. "Looks like we're here."

Wanda nodded, her pulse still racing as she followed Natasha out of the room and onto the deck.

The port of Athens was bustling with activity, the chaos of cargo being unloaded and dockworkers shouting orders providing a stark contrast to the quiet intimacy of their cabin. Wanda pulled her hood up, blending into the crowd with Natasha close by her side.

As they moved through the crowded streets, snatches of conversation reached their ears.

"Did you hear about the mutants?"

"Underground… hunted by men in black…"

"They're from America… some secret organization…"

Wanda paused, her curiosity piqued. She turned to Natasha. "Did you hear that?"

Natasha nodded, her expression serious. "Mutants. Underground. Being hunted."

Wanda's mind raced. If there was a group of mutants hiding in Athens, they could be exactly what she needed to strengthen Sokovia.

"We need to find them," Wanda said firmly. "If they're being hunted, they'll need protection. And if they're powerful…"

Natasha smirked, finishing the thought. "They could help you build your vision for Sokovia."

Wanda nodded, determination burning in her crimson eyes. "Exactly."

Together, they melted into the crowd, following the trail of whispers and rumors that would lead them to the hidden mutants—and the next step in Wanda's journey.
