I'm Really Not A Nen Exorcist (HxH Fanfic)

Chapter 445: Chapter 445 A Rare Opportunity

Miro's head flew through the downpour.

His headless body, left without support, slowly collapsed to the ground.

With that, the main force of the Erimo Bandit Group, which had attacked the tent for excavated ancient artifacts, was completely wiped out.

Ging looked at Moses walking towards him through the wind and rain, grinned and gave a thumbs up.

If-

The battle that Ging witnessed when he first arrived at the military camp made him realize Moses's strength.

Then this battle showed him Moses's talent and potential for growth.

'A young man who had broken through the seal created from Divine Script and awakened Nen on his own...'

'Could there be some mysterious secret hidden within you?'

A flicker of light passed deep within Ging's eyes.

Today was the third time he had seen Moses.

The second time was outside the Swamp Man's autograph session building in Swardani City. And the first time...

Was when he accepted Cheadle's commission and 'engraved' the Divine Script to seal the awakening of Nen on Moses's body, who was still an infant.

Theoretically, the Divine Script's power was overwhelming for an ordinary person. And without external intervention, it should have been impossible for anything unexpected to occur.

When Cheadle first mentioned that Moses had awakened Nen on his own, although Ging found it unbelievable, he quickly accepted the fact and immediately began to ponder why.

At that moment, he recalled the then-popular novel Swamp Man.

After all, for an ordinary person to spontaneously awaken Nen on their own in such circumstances, the most likely explanation is that some kind of 'rebirth' phenomenon has occurred to them.

However, back then, Ging had only used the setting of Swamp Man as a metaphor for Moses's situation.

As for whether Moses was still truly 'Moses', Ging hadn't questioned it too deeply. After all, his interaction with Moses had been minimal, and Hawk and Cheadle were far more qualified to judge.

If Moses had truly been replaced by some other entity, people like Hawk would surely have noticed something off.

There was no need for Ging to point it out.

So, at the time, he merely gave Cheadle a hypothesis filled with possibilities.

What Ging hadn't expected was that, a year later, Swamp Man's author, Davidson, would recreate the abilities and phenomena from the book using Nen, stirring up chaos in the world without the public's knowledge.

What was even more unexpected-

Was that Moses had been involved in the Swamp Man Incident and had played a crucial role in resolving it.

It was also at that time that Ging, who always felt that 'time' was not enough, took the time to pay attention to Moses.

'It has nothing to do with Swamp Man.'

This is the conclusion Ging came to after digging deeper.

The reasoning was simple.

Take, for instance, Miro's head, currently tumbling through the rain.

If Moses were somehow linked to the Swamp Man's ability system, then anyone he killed would have already been turned into a Swamp People long ago.

Yet, despite all of this, Ging was absolutely certain Moses was hiding some kind of secret. It could be related to how he broke through the Divine Script on his own, or perhaps it had to do with something Cheadle wasn't willing to disclose.

Ging was curious about this.

But since Cheadle didn't want to reveal it, he wouldn't pry further. He would let his curiosity gnaw at him for a while and then tuck it away in a dusty corner.

However, if Cheadle or Moses ever wanted to share the secret to him...

Then Ging would dust off that curiosity as quickly as possible, then excitedly prepare a stool and some snacks, and eagerly await the unraveling of the truth with excitement.

That's the kind of person Ging is.

For now, he wouldn't label Moses with anything.

What he wanted to do was accept Moses's earlier invitation for a drink and then shamelessly let Moses foot the bill without any psychological burden.

When Moses reached Ging, he asked, "Where should we go for the drinks? Any recommendations?"

"You're asking the right guy. I'll find a place."

Ging smiled, speaking with an air of seriousness.

In fact, he was already mentally searching for any place with ridiculously expensive drinks.

Moses didn't know what Ging was thinking, so he smiled and nodded.

Then, he turned to glance at Miro's corpse and thought to himself, 'No reward huh... Whatever, I got what I wanted anyway. By the way, if I could establish a relationship with Ging... I wonder what kind of reward I'd get.'

Thinking of this, Moses suddenly felt a surge of anticipation.

No matter what, he wouldn't miss this opportunity easily.

After all, Ging is the type who appears and disappears mysteriously, and getting a chance to meet him wasn't easy, even if they had exchanged contact information.

The dust-covered chair in the Hunter Association's Zodiacs Conference Room was proof enough of that.

If possible…

Moses wanted to ask Ging about the Divine Script.

At this time, Satotz and Quinn approached, looking somewhat restrained.

After all, standing before them were two individuals: one was a living legend with great renown in the industry, and the other was a rising Blacklist Hunter superstar, who had just demonstrated the true weight of the title 'Spider Slayer' in front of them.

Even if there was only a slim chance, Satotz and Quinn wanted to seize the opportunity to connect with both Ging and Moses.

"Spider Slayer... you're really strong!"

Quinn stared intently at Moses, replaying the scenes from the recent battle in his mind, unable to help but feel awestruck.

Satotz was also deeply shaken by Moses's performance in the fight, but his attention was more focused on Ging at the moment.

As for the Nen Exorcist, Heram, after confirming that the crisis was averted, he did not bother to treat his injuries and immediately rushed back to the tent to verify Zaina's claim about the missing ancient artifacts.

The fact was just as Zaina said… All the crates containing the excavated items, which had been neatly stored in the tent, were all gone.

"If it wasn't the Erimo Bandit Group... then who could it be!?!"

Heram's eyes trembled as he stared at the empty ground.

As a Ruins Hunter, the last thing he can afford is the loss of the things he has discovered.

It wasn't about their monetary value, as these items were the keys and mediums to uncovering history.

Meanwhile, in the corner of a tent amidst the rain…

Shizuku and Menchi walked out from the shadows and prepared to rendezvous with Moses.

The military camp was still in chaos at this time.

It was clear that the Manipulator from the Erimo Bandit Group responsible for creating the disorder had not been dealt with yet.

'I feel like I forgot something.'

As Shizuku walked towards Moses, her eyelids lifted slightly, as if she had forgotten something important.

However, she didn't dwell on it and quickened her pace.

"Moses."

"Master!"

Menchi and Shizuku called out to Moses, who is not far away.

Hearing the two people's shouts, Moses turned to look at them and nodded in acknowledgment.

Ging also glanced at Menchi and Shizuku, but he wasn't surprised at all.

He had long been aware of the presence of these two girls.

Satotz and Quinn, on the other hand, were completely oblivious.

'There are other Nen Users too...?'

At this moment, when they saw Menchi and Shizuku, who were emitting Nen, coming towards them, they were both secretly astonished.

And at this time-

A powerful and ominous Post-Mortem Nen suddenly surged from the entrance of the tomb, carrying a sense of intense malevolence.

"Hmm!?"

Everyone, including Ging, looked in the direction where the Aura came from with shock.

A black, linear Aura shot into the sky amidst the downpour.

Inside the tent…

Heram was the first to sense the Post-Mortem Nen coming from the tomb's entrance.

"It's that Post-Mortem Nen, how can it be...!!!"

Feeling the strength emanating from it, Heram's face was filled with shock.

When he was deep in the tomb, he discovered that this Post-Mortem Nen was in the process of reviving, and he had mentally prepared himself for the time and effort it would take to exorcise it later.

The attack by the Erimo Bandit Group was an unexpected event.

'But this Post-Mortem Nen...'

'How could it suddenly become so powerful?'
