Chapter 91: Chapter 87. A Hidden Character Discovered?
"Wow, how beautiful!"
"Gwen, don't stick your head out of the window—it's dangerous!"
A black SUV drove along a coastal highway, the vast blue ocean stretching out beside it.
Leaning halfway out of the window facing the ocean, a small, blue-haired girl marveled at the sea. The wind tousled Gwen's cerulean curls, but it couldn't hide the delight in her eyes. The salty breeze, the sunlight sparkling on the waves crashing against the cliffs, and the soaring seagulls—all of it etched itself into her memory.
This was her first time seeing such picturesque ocean views. While her awakening in human form had occurred by the sea, the skies back then were gloomy, and the waters lifeless—it was the Shadow Isles. Later, as she traveled with the Sentinels of Light in search of fragments of Isolde, she also missed the chance to see beautiful seascapes. At the time, the curse of the Ruination had already spread across Runeterra, and Gwen had rarely seen the sun.
Now, for the first time, she could enjoy the sight of such a beautiful ocean, especially in this world. She had spent most of her days at Noah's house, and while the mansion offered views of the sea, the scenery was static and didn't live up to her expectations.
"Wow!" Gwen pulled her head back slightly, her face still glowing with a bright smile.
"It's fine; I'm a great driver, so it's not dangerous," Noah said, keeping his eyes on the road. With his superhuman senses and reflexes, he truly was an excellent driver. And even if something went wrong, he could use magic to lift the car into the air, transforming it into a flying vehicle. While not as fast as he could travel on his own, it was still effective, even for a vehicle weighing a couple of tons.
Half an hour later, they were nearing their destination. Since acquiring his armor and teleportation abilities, Noah rarely took long trips. His armor, capable of supersonic speeds, allowed him to reach any destination within thirty minutes. Teleportation was even faster, taking mere seconds to travel from Asgard to Earth.
This time, however, he decided to enjoy the journey, relying neither on his armor nor teleportation but instead driving the car with Lissandra and Gwen. It was a pleasant change of pace. Back when he hadn't yet regained his memories, his road trips were often solitary or with unfamiliar classmates. Now, with Lissandra and Gwen by his side, even the scenery seemed more vibrant.
"We've arrived."
Their destination was the famed Luna Park in New York, one of the oldest amusement parks, opened in the early 20th century. It remained highly popular, a testament to its quality.
The park teemed with people, proof of its reputation. Located on the Atlantic coast, it was a favorite spot for locals and a major tourist attraction. In the crowd, Noah noticed many visitors from other countries.
When they reached the parking lot, almost all the spots were taken. Noah scanned the area with magic, quickly identifying several empty spaces. He chose the closest one and parked the car.
"Finally parked," he said, relieved. Parking seemed like such a chore, and he realized that if he weren't armed with magic, finding a spot could have been a nightmare. Without magic, this task might have taken an eternity.
Gwen and Lissandra stepped out of the car and joined him.
"So, here's today's destination, Gwen," Noah said, addressing the excited girl. "I've heard that girls love amusement parks, so I picked this place for your first trip on Earth. What do you think?"
Technically, the mansion was the first place Gwen visited on Earth, but that didn't matter much.
Gwen nodded, her expression beaming with joy.
"Yes, it looks so fun! And there are so many people—it's so lively!"
She could hardly wait to enter the park. Together, they exited the underground parking lot, taking the elevator to the surface.
The midday sun blazed overhead. Tourists meandered through the park, chatting about their next ride. As the elevator doors opened, the trio's appearance instantly captured everyone's attention.
"Wow, are they celebrities? They're so stunning!"
"Oh my God, I see an angel!"
"Mom, look! What a handsome man!"
As Noah, Lissandra, and Gwen emerged, they immediately became the center of attention. Their striking appearances left the crowd awestruck. The women were extraordinarily beautiful, and Noah, whose natural looks already rated over 90 out of 100, had ascended to a new level of attractiveness thanks to the enhancements from the Resolve Rune.
He rarely thought about his appearance; it wasn't as though anyone regularly admired themselves in the mirror. But the attention they drew surprised him. Hearing the murmurs around him, he couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction.
"Who would've thought I'd one day become a center of attention for my looks? Feels pretty good," he mused with a smirk, keeping his demeanor calm. Taking Gwen's hand, who seemed puzzled by the sudden attention, and Lissandra's, whose expression remained composed, he used a touch of magic to part the crowd.
"Excuse us, please," he said politely.
Noah's magic was so subtle that those affected didn't even notice it, instinctively making way for him.
As they neared the edge of the crowd, his magic detected a strange energy signal in the air.
"Huh? What's that?"
A short distance away, beyond the crowd, stood an Asian woman with long black hair wearing a brown cloak. Beside her was a little girl with short blonde hair. Both were staring directly at him.
Narrowing his eyes slightly, Noah sensed an enigmatic power emanating from the woman but couldn't pinpoint its nature.
The black-haired woman noticed Noah looking at her, smiled faintly, and quickly disappeared into the crowd with the girl.
"Noah, what's wrong?" Gwen asked, noticing his sudden pause.
"Oh, it's nothing. Let's keep going," he replied, releasing the girls' hands. The three of them headed toward the attractions that looked particularly inviting.
On the way, he glanced at Lissandra, intending to ask her to investigate the mysterious pair. However, she was already one step ahead:
"Noah, I know what you want. Check your phone."
While he had been observing the woman, Lissandra had already begun gathering information. Anticipating his request, she sent the data to his phone before he even asked.
"Lissandra is as sharp as ever," Noah thought, feeling grateful.
"Gwen, Lissandra, it's pretty hot outside. Let's go grab something cool to drink," he suggested, deciding to take a break to review the information.
They entered a small bar. As expected, the patrons immediately began murmuring about the striking newcomers. Noah ordered a drink, leaving Gwen to handle the rest, and pulled out his phone to study Lissandra's findings.
"Sersi, age unknown. Resides in New York at xxx address. Allegedly active since the 19th century. This name sounds familiar."
He looked at the black-and-white photograph on his screen, recognizing the woman they had just seen.
"Sprite, age unknown. Lives with Sersi. Believed to be of the same age. This combination rings a bell…"
As he read through the data, which included their real-life details, address, and professions, memories of where he'd heard of these figures began to surface.
"The Eternals?"
At that moment, a system notification appeared before his eyes.
[A new A-level mission has been assigned. Summoner, please review.]
