Chapter 106: Chapter 100 Entering the game
"Hey, isn't this Mr. Danzo, our great hero of Konoha? Please, have a seat!" Yuya smiled as he guided Danzo to a chair, then asked kindly, "Mr. Danzo, what brings you here today?"
Danzo Shimura's face reddened. He knew Yuya was mocking him, but he couldn't show his anger or dissatisfaction. He composed himself, forcing a smile, and replied, "I am here to discuss exchanging the Shimura clan's year-end subsidy for equity incentives. Since you've distributed shares to other families in Konoha, it's only fair not to show favoritism."
Even when seeking help, Danzo referred to Yuya as "Secretary-Agent," a term only stubbornly used by the old patriarch of the Sarutobi clan, who was now confined by his own family to avoid losing their shares if Yuya took offense.
Most families in Konoha now called Yuya "Agent" in jest, but some, like Danzo, took it seriously.
Yuya narrowed his eyes, then spread his hands with a smile, "I'm afraid there's nothing left to divide. It's all been allocated."
Danzo's face twisted momentarily. He took a deep breath and said softly, "Why say something so easily disproven? The dividends given to other families are only a small part. Why deceive me?"
Yuya smiled, realizing Danzo understood the situation. He then changed his demeanor, "You're the hero of Konoha, let's not discuss this further."
Yuya handed Danzo a scroll, "These are the lists of companies in Konoha. Please, hero, choose one."
Danzo was surprised, "I... can choose one?"
Yuya nodded, inviting him to proceed.
Danzo, suspicious but intrigued, found reassurance when he saw that hospitals and banks were not among the options—choosing those would have indicated a trap.
He asked, "What does 'agency' mean?"
Yuya explained, "Mr. Danzo, you can choose any company here. For one year, it will belong to the Shimura clan. After a year, your clan can keep the profits."
"However, during this period, I'll withdraw all investments from that company, and personnel will be reassigned. Recruitment and operations are your responsibility."
Danzo understood this was a test of his ability to manage a business, implying that if he couldn't manage one company, he shouldn't manage the village.
Suspicious, Danzo asked, "Will you target our company this year?"
Yuya, with a darkened expression, retorted, "You've set obstacles for me, but you don't allow me to challenge you? Why should you be exempt from competition?"
Danzo wasn't angered. Instead, he felt relief at Yuya's straightforwardness. He realized this was about giving him a challenging opportunity rather than a trap.
The key was whether to accept the terms.
After contemplation, Danzo agreed, "I'll accept, but only if you conduct this openly, without deceit."
Yuya interrupted, "I won't interfere. It's entirely up to your efforts."
Danzo stood and extended his hand, "It's a deal."
Yuya chuckled and shook his hand, "It's a deal."
In early February of the 23rd year of Konoha, the Shimura clan took over the village's beverage manufacturing factory. The next day, after the handover, the factory's director, deputy director, and department leaders were reassigned to a new factory by Yuya. Two-thirds of the workers also left for better wages at the new factory, leaving a third at the beverage factory.
Yuya's new factory, the [Konoha Tobacco Manufacturing Factory], was established despite the health risks associated with smoking, driven by its profitability in relieving stress.
In the middle of the same month, the Third Raikage of Kumogakure Village arrived in Konoha with his escort team. Yuya realized that Senju Tobirama's historical dealings were quite normal, as the Raikage's visit lacked the usual military pressure expected.
Despite the Raikage's visit being ostensibly about peace, Yuya aimed to include Kumogakure in Konoha's business ventures, utilizing the northern pastures of Yunyin Village for livestock, potentially turning it into Konoha's meat supply base.
