Chapter 418: Chapter 418: Single-handedly Starting a Ninja War

After taking a sip of water, Kushina wrinkled her face in frustration.

"Oh, don't mention it. Jin'ya destroyed some merchant ships from the Cloud Village and Mist Village. Not many ships were sunk, but as a result, the two villages started fighting for seemingly no reason."

"That's all?"

Shinki raised an eyebrow suspiciously. Something didn't seem right.

Why would the Cloud Village and the Mist Village start a war over a few merchant ships? It sounded like a joke.

"Yes," Kushina replied casually.

She added, "I also saw this massive turtle on the sea. It was so big it looked like an island. If the Nine Tails hadn't warned me, I would've thought it was just a regular island. It was enormous, way bigger than the Nine Tails."

"This is the largest creature I've ever seen."

"Then what happened?"

No one else had the kind of luck Kushina seemed to have.

Turtle Island was a secret that the Cloud Village had guarded closely for ages, yet she managed to stumble upon it.

In the original timeline, the secret of Turtle Island was only revealed during the final battle.

"Then I saw some ninjas from the Cloud Village on it. So, the Nine Tails and I decided to blow it up with the Tailed Beast Bomb!"

Kushina threw a few mock punches in the air. "It took several blasts of the Tailed Beast Bomb, but we managed to destroy it. Jin'ya even took a chunk of its flesh."

Shinki froze. "..."

"And then?"

"After that, ninjas from the Cloud Village and Mist Village rushed toward the sea to investigate what happened. I fled with Jin'ya. Not long after, I got your message, so I returned to the village," Kushina explained.

"..."

Shinki facepalmed. He felt like he'd pieced together the real reason for the war between the Cloud Village and the Mist Village.

Turtle Island was a closely guarded secret of the Cloud Village, known to only a few. For it to be discovered and attacked so abruptly was no small matter.

If a giant turtle like that was blown to bits, wouldn't the Cloud Village be furious?

With the Mist Village also investigating the situation, it only added fuel to the fire. Combining these clues revealed the spark that ignited the conflict—Turtle Island.

"Congratulations, Kushina," Shinki said, barely suppressing a laugh. "You've officially set a record by single-handedly starting a war in the ninja world."

Kushina blinked in confusion. "Huh? Was it because of me?"

"Hahaha," Shinki laughed as he ruffled her hair. "The giant turtle you destroyed was incredibly important to the Cloud Village and one of their most tightly kept secrets. Its sudden destruction, coupled with the Mist Village's involvement, made it impossible for the Cloud Village to keep their cool."

"Ah," Kushina muttered with an embarrassed grin.

"Don't forget how bad-tempered the people in the Cloud Village are. And on top of that, the Fourth Mizukage of the Mist Village is suspected of stoking the flames. Otherwise, he wouldn't have sent the Kaguya clan to the battlefield."

The Cloud Village had shared general details with their ally, Konoha. According to them, the war was triggered by the Mist Village's provocations. The Mist Village had been sending members of the Kaguya clan to stir up trouble in disputed waters, which eventually pushed the Cloud Village too far.

That Mizukage Yagura was a piece of work. He knew the Kaguya clan were reckless lunatics unafraid of death, yet he sent them to these contested areas. It was clearly a deliberate move to create chaos.

After hearing Shinki's explanation, Kushina beamed with pride.

If she wasn't afraid of looking too smug, she might have struck a victory pose right then and there.

"Wait!" she suddenly exclaimed, noticing something odd.

"Shinki, why would the Fourth Mizukage send the Kaguya clan to disputed waters? Isn't that just making things worse?"

Sitting beside her, Shinki calmly sipped his water before answering. "Because that's exactly what Yagura wanted—to escalate the conflict. The Kaguya clan's presence guarantees tension will boil over. Yagura recently became the Mizukage, and many within the Mist Village oppose him. Sending them to the front lines in the disputed waters is his way of thinning out dissenters, including the Kaguya clan, the Yuki clan, and the Oniden clan."

"Plus," he added, "the Mist Village's geography makes it difficult for the Cloud Village to launch a full-scale invasion. Yagura isn't worried about his position being threatened. On the contrary, the war serves his goal of eliminating opposition within his ranks."

"This Yagura is a snake," Kushina muttered angrily.

"Does that mean even if they lose the war, the Mist Village won't suffer too much because the Cloud Village can't attack their mainland?" she asked.

"That's about right," Shinki said, flicking her nose playfully. "But don't forget, there's always a chance for surprises. Just because an army can't invade doesn't mean individuals won't try. You'll see—Yagura is going to regret starting this war."

The Raikage, after all, wasn't someone who played by the rules.

A man with absolute confidence in his strength wouldn't hesitate to storm the Mist Village himself.

"When the Raikage starts causing trouble on their islands, Yagura will definitely regret provoking this war," Shinki concluded.

Kushina was now curious. "Wait, are you saying Yagura will regret provoking the Raikage?"

"Exactly. The Raikage isn't the type to sit in a war camp issuing orders. He prefers to shake things up in person," Shinki said with a grin.

"I just came back from the Hokage's office. Iwagakure has declared war on the Cloud Village. As their allies, we'll send support to ease their burden. In other words, we'll be attacking the Rock Village."

"Wait, what?" Kushina exclaimed.

"That's right. This war will involve all five major ninja villages. Kushina, you've truly set a new record."

Kushina's jaw dropped as she mentally counted: the Cloud Village was at war with the Mist Village, the Rock Village was at war with the Cloud Village, and Konoha and the Sand Village were joining forces to fight the Rock Village.

Every single major ninja village was now involved in the conflict.

It dawned on her that her actions had snowballed into something unprecedented.

"I really started something impossible, huh?" she muttered, still in disbelief.
