Chapter 550: Chapter 550: The Next Arrangement is Coming!
The sight before them left the nine jinchūriki stunned. The energy emanating from the Ten-Tails shadow caused the tailed beasts within them to instinctively submit. Even Kurama, the Nine-Tails, radiated a sense of unease in the presence of the Ten-Tails' overwhelming power.
Fortunately, the Ten-Tails' appearance was brief. In just a few minutes, it absorbed the jinchūriki's combined chakra, devoured the lingering corrupted natural energy, and dissipated. The battlefield was left scarred and barren, but the corrosive energy had vanished entirely.
"Alright, we're done here." Kaguya's voice broke the silence. "Now, let's return. Summon a few Earth-Release ninjas to restore the terrain here. Afterward, everyone should resume training."
With a wave of her hand, Kaguya opened a rift in space. Without further explanation, she stepped through it and disappeared.
The jinchūriki exchanged glances, still reeling from the events, before they withdrew their tailed beast forms and headed back to the ninja station.
Back at the station, Yagura, the Mizukage, approached Namikaze Minato.
"Lady Kaguya Otsutsuki has left. She mentioned turning the location of Reiki's battle into a special training camp. She suggested using the traces of his fight as part of the training grounds. Earth-Release ninjas should be sent to make the necessary modifications."
Minato nodded thoughtfully. "Let's proceed with her suggestion. While we can't help Reiki directly right now, we can't let progress here stagnate."
Minato continued, issuing orders: "The ninjas assigned to the special training camp will remain here and continue their training. The others, under the leadership of their village Kage, will comb through the ninja world. Search for any remnants of the Evil God Cult and their puppets. Ensure there are no loose ends."
It was a logical arrangement. Minato understood the stakes. Reiki had framed this battle as a preliminary exercise—a harbinger of even greater challenges to come. The seriousness of the situation weighed heavily on him.
Suddenly, a familiar voice interrupted Minato's thoughts. "No need to search further. We've already rounded them all up."
A group of figures approached, led by Kakuzu of the Akutsu Organization. The mercenaries under Reiki's command were a formidable force, and their presence meant one thing: Reiki had anticipated this.
"Kakuzu?" Minato blinked. "Akutsu Organization?"
Kakuzu grinned, producing a large scroll. "We've captured every last member of the Evil God Cult we could find, as well as their puppets. Now, let's talk payment. We charge per head—care to settle the bill?"
Minato sighed but nodded, knowing this was part of Reiki's intricate plans. "What's the total?"
Kakuzu unrolled the scroll and began his calculations. "From the Land of Fire, we captured 102 members of the Evil God Cult, each priced at 100 million ryō. That's 10.2 billion. Additionally, we secured 519 evil god puppets at 10 million ryō each, totaling 5.19 billion. I've rounded it down to an even 15 billion. Consider it a discount."
He handed Minato the scroll, which included detailed records of every captured individual, their identities, locations of capture, and even strength estimates. Kakuzu had meticulously ensured there would be no disputes over payment.
"Alright, wait here," Minato said, retrieving a separate scroll to authorize the funds. "Take this to Konoha. My instructions are in writing—someone there will handle the transaction."
Satisfied, Kakuzu nodded. "Good. Next, the Land of Wind…" He turned to Rasa, the Kazekage, with a new scroll in hand.
Kakuzu moved from Kage to Kage, delivering his reports and settling accounts. By the time he was done, he had gathered authorization for payment from all five great nations. As he prepared to leave, Black Zetsu emerged from the ground to intercept him.
"Kakuzu, stay." Black Zetsu's tone was firm. "Let the others handle collecting the money. You and the original members—Iron Tower, Souta, and the rest—are required for special training."
"Special training?" Kakuzu scoffed. "With these puppets? Count me out."
"No," Black Zetsu clarified. "It's with the instructor."
Kakuzu paused, taken aback. "The instructor? You mean Reiki?"
But Kakuzu quickly dismissed the idea. "No, I'm collecting the money first. After I've counted every ryō, I'll think about training. Priorities."
He began walking away, shaking his head. "What's the point of training if I don't secure the funds we worked for? Becoming stronger is only worthwhile if it leads to profit."
The remaining members of the Akutsu Organization exchanged glances.
"Let him go," Souta said. "If he doesn't get paid, he'll be too distracted to focus on training."
Iron Tower nodded. "He's right. We'll stay behind and begin the special training."
The rest of the Akutsu members agreed. With Kakuzu gone, they turned their attention to the next phase of their development—preparing for the challenges ahead.
The Path Forward
As the ninja alliance transitioned into training and recovery, the remnants of the Evil God Cult were being systematically dismantled. Reiki's plans continued to unfold, ensuring no aspect of the conflict was left unchecked.
Meanwhile, the special training camp would serve as a crucible, forging new strengths from the scars of battle. Though Kakuzu's priorities differed, the others remained focused on preparing for the unknown threats that lay ahead.
Reiki's influence was clear. Even in his absence, his arrangements shaped the ninja world's efforts, ensuring they were ready for the trials to come.
The war wasn't over, but hope had taken root.
