OBSESSED: SECRET ATTRACTION

Chapter 2: CHAPTER 2:HER CRUSH

Inside the car, Alex made sure Rose was well seated and comfortable before ordering the driver to drive. Rose turned towards him,a curious look on her face. He raised a brow questioningly at her." Aren't you going to open that?" She asked, pointing a finger at the box he held in his hand. His grip on it was firm, as if he never wanted to let go, like it was some valuable treasure. "Why are you curious about me opening it. This is my gift and I choose to open it when and where I please. And it's not like you don't know what's in it." He spoke with a teasing glint in his eye, his lips curved in a smirk. Tch! Such a mood spoiler. She rolled her eyes feigning indifference.Alex reached out to ruffle her hair slightly. "Hey! Do you know how much effort I put into getting these locks in the right curls." She scolded him, an annoyed look etched on her face making her look more cute. "No, I don't know. But what I do know and I'm sure of is, even if you took five seconds to dress you'd still be amazing." He spoke, heavy emotion laced in his tone. Oblivious to his intense emotions, she waved him off dismissively while speaking. "Yeah, thanks his emperor of compliments but can you please help me tie this up. At least it won't get messy in a ponytail." Alex felt his heart tighten at her dismissive remark. She didn't even take him seriously. Staring at her while holding up her hair so she could secure her dark locks in a rubber band, a thought crossed his mind. To Rose they were just best friends and there was no way she would ever feel the same way he felt. His eyes lowered to her exposed slender neck and the sudden urge to burry his nose in the crook of it gnawed at him. But he immediately shifted putting some distance between them as soon as she was done holding her hair up. This was a special evening and he wasn't ready to create any awkwardness between them by making silly mistakes. The driver's voice suddenly cut in ruining his short lived quiet moment." Young master, we've arrived." Alex turned to her. " Shall we?" She nodded in response. The driver who was already outside waiting opened the door for them to step out, Alex came out first and with a stretched hand helped Rose out too. They slowly made their way into the restaurant and were immediately met by a waiter. "How may I help you sir, madam?" He spoke in a professional tone. "We have a reservation for two, under the name Alexander Blackwood." Alex stated. "You must be the young master of the Blackwood family. That will be table 3,with the window view. Kindly follow me." He informed and began leading the way. The duo followed closely till they arrived at their table. Alex moved to pull a chair out for Rose and afterwards moved to sit on the opposite side as well. Another waiter approached them as the other took leave of them after bowing."Good evening, I am Henry Burke and I will be your waiter for tonight. May I get you something to drink while I enlighten you on some of our best dishes tonight?" He spoke politely. "Yes. We would like the a bottle of Château Margaux 1982 please." Alex requested and the waiter quickly set off to get them the wine. "So you actually turned down your family's grand celebration just to come here and eat?" Rose asked as soon as the waiter left. "What's wrong with that? I'm tired of these boring parties, they don't make a difference." He spoke in a lazy tone. "And anyways you're here with me, what more could I ask for. I'm out here on my own without a bodyguard tailing my back, my best friend by my side and there's more to come. So for me that's far more interesting than some grand celebration where I'll end up getting introduced to business associates of whom I'm expected to work with in the coming future. How is that a birthday celebration, huh?" He quizzed. "Okay, I see your point now. So rather than sulking let's start celebrating. You just turned 19 and you will be leaving for Pecker Hills soon to take over your father's businesses there so let's celebrate you now." Rose spoke excitedly. The waiter came back and after opening the wine, served them both. Alex and Rose engaged in light conversation as they sipped their wine, recalling some childhood memories while they laughed heartily. Ten minutes after choosing their dishes for the night from the menu their food arrived and they immediately dug in. They were halfway through their meal when Rose gasped suddenly, her gaze moved behind him. "What's wrong?" He asked while turning slightly following her line if sight." That's Adrien, my crush." He paused unsure of what he heard as his eyes scanned the tall lanky figure that had just walked in. "Y-your crush?" He asked again. "Yeah." She replied turning her gaze back at him, her cheeks were now tainted with a slight blush. Alex felt his hand go numb as he slowly put his fork down. His heart raced uncontrollably and he struggled to maintain his composure. "Oh. I um, I never knew you had a crush." He tried to keep his tone light. "I forgot to you. I met him at Tiffany's party, last Friday." She explained. He suddenly hated himself. That was the party he refused to attend and decided to stay back home. Damn it. He cursed silently. "Oh my god. He's coming here. How do I look." She gushed as she discreetly tried to tidy her appearance. Alex couldn't even turn to look but the moment he heard a voice." Hey Rose." His world stopped for a moment.
