Chapter 324: Chapter 324
Hearing Kibu's sudden remark, Dak was momentarily stunned—it sounded oddly familiar.
Then he remembered. Just over three months ago, a girl from a century into the future had made a similar joke.
"Alright, Kibu, stop teasing your Uncle Dak."
Before Dak could even respond, Izuna flicked a small stone, hitting Kibu squarely on the head.
It seemed that Izuna's shuriken-throwing skills hadn't dulled much, even on Pokémon Island.
"Ahahaha, I can't help it! Uncle Dak is way more fun than you old fossils~"
Kibu burst into laughter, abandoning her playful act after being called out by her uncle.
Dak: ...
"She's just teasing you. Don't take her seriously about the revival thing," Izuna explained.
"Well, I have no deep feelings for my mother since I don't remember her at all. Having Father and my uncles is more than enough for me."
Kibu puffed out her chest, speaking as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Dak finally realized Kibu was only joking.
What a mischievous girl, Dak thought. Clearly, she had been spoiled by Izuna or perhaps by some Arcanine growing up.
Madara certainly wasn't the type to spoil a child—his glare earlier had made that clear.
"Speaking of which, didn't any of you leave behind descendants?"
Dak's gaze swept over the others present.
"Ha? Not me. I hate kids," Izuna said, shrugging and then pointing at Kakuzu. "And look at him—who'd want to have kids with that guy?"
"Bullshit! I'm plenty handsome! There are lines of women who'd love to have my children!"
Kakuzu immediately flared up.
For 38 years, Izuna had never stopped teasing Kakuzu. If Kakuzu were an Uchiha, he would've awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan long ago.
"I'm in no rush," Hanzo muttered.
He was practically halfway to his grave, so there wasn't much urgency left. Had Dak not returned, Hanzo might have already given up entirely.
"Enough of this nonsense," Madara interrupted, turning serious. "Dak, there are two things I need to discuss with you."
"Two things? One of them must be about me taking on a disciple, right? I'm still confused about how that even came about."
Dak scratched his head, genuinely perplexed.
"That's an important matter, but we'll get to it later. First, you must have noticed something since you returned—how events on Pokémon Island seem to unfold in ways that minimize disruption."
Madara gestured toward Whitebeard and his two "sons," who looked confused by the comment.
But Dak understood immediately.
He had once told Madara about how Itachi had wiped out the Uchiha clan and how Sasuke had embarked on a path of revenge against his brother. Dak had even mentioned that Sasuke had "found a strong father figure in another world."
"This is something that has puzzled me as well. I thought that after altering the past, they wouldn't cross paths again."
Dak recalled the scenes with Naruto, Hinata, and their families. "Yet, they seem to reconnect in ways that, while odd to me, make sense in the grand scheme of things."
"And from these connections, new events arise," Madara said with certainty.
"This world seems to be correcting changes in a way that adds 'accidents' rather than erasing what originally occurred."
Over the past two months, Madara hadn't wandered aimlessly. Instead, he had worked with Robin to review events in the Pokémon Alliance during that time.
What he found didn't align perfectly with what Dak had told him about the past. That's when he sensed something was off and enlisted Izuna's help to investigate further. Their conclusion was clear.
"Good to know," Dak said with relief.
Now, if irreversible accidents occurred again, he'd be less apprehensive about using time travel as a solution.
"However, this effect only works within Pokémon Island. You know how chaotic the Shinobi World has become," Madara warned.
"I understand."
"Good. Take this."
Madara returned to his room and retrieved a thick book.
[Ninja Technique Manual]
"What's this?"
"It's the result of combining ninjutsu with Pokémon moves. Orochimaru and Hiruko helped a lot. Every technique in here has been tested and proven effective," Kakuzu explained.
If anyone had contributed the most to this manual, it was undoubtedly Kakuzu.
Thanks to his Earth Grudge Fear technique, Kakuzu could replace his hearts with ones attuned to different chakra natures, allowing him to test combinations of various elemental jutsu with Pokémon moves.
Dak opened the manual and began flipping through its pages.
[A-Rank: Great Explosion Flame Song Technique]
A fusion of the Fire-type move Overheat and the Fire Release technique Flame Dragon Song.
[A-Rank: Water Dragon Cannon]
A fusion of the Water-type move Hydro Pump and the Water Release technique Water Dragon Bullet.
[A-Rank: Vacuum Blade]
A fusion of the Flying-type move Air Slash and the Wind Release technique Wind Blade.
"We discovered two critical rules during our experiments," Izuna said as he approached, hunched over but still exuding authority.
He flipped the manual to the later pages, showing Dak some of the findings.
[C-Rank: Web of Insects]
A fusion of the Bug-type move String Shot and the Wind Release technique Net.
[B-Rank: Swift Dragon Breath]
A fusion of the Dragon-type move Dragon Breath and the Lightning Release technique Thunder Arrow.
"The first rule is that when the move and jutsu have similar or identical properties, their combined power is amplified by 1.5 to 2 times. However, if their properties differ, the resulting power drops to between 0.3 and 0.8 times. For instance, a Water-type move and a Fire Release technique can't be combined at all," Izuna explained.
This revelation didn't surprise Dak. Charlotte had mentioned something similar before leaving.
Even the less powerful combinations weren't necessarily weak.
For example, Swift Dragon Breath might lack the raw power of Dragon Breath or the speed of Thunder Arrow individually. But as a hybrid, it was stronger than a standalone Thunder Arrow and faster than a standalone Dragon Breath.
In certain scenarios, it was the better option.
"This is amazing. Did you leave copies in the Shinobi World?" Dak asked.
He hoped each world's Pokémon would have unique characteristics. For the Shinobi World, this fusion of ninjutsu and Pokémon moves could be their defining trait—a more extensive and powerful move pool.
"All of these techniques are publicly available in the Shinobi World."
Initially, Madara hadn't intended to share the manual widely. He wanted to reserve it for the Akatsuki's successors to maintain their dominance.
But after seeing the average strength of Pokémon from the One Piece world and their shared technology, Madara changed his mind. His pride wouldn't allow the Shinobi World to fall behind.
"We did try combining forbidden techniques with moves, but there weren't any successful cases."
"That's probably for the best," Dak said, unfazed.
Forbidden techniques often brought as much trouble as they did benefits. Take Edo Tensei—it had caused no end of problems in the Shinobi World.
"The second key is that once a Pokémon can switch seamlessly between elemental energy and chakra within its body, it can perform any ninja technique without hand signs," Izuna added with a sigh. "And every Pokémon will eventually achieve this."
For ninja, the ability to perform jutsu without hand signs was a game-changer.
But Pokémon inherently possessed this potential.
"For most Pokémon, it's not too difficult. Our Pokémon mastered it by the time they were two or three years old," Hanzo added.
"My Qwilfish was the last to learn, but even it managed by age three," he continued.
"For a Pokémon like Qwilfish, which can't form hand signs at all, this is a remarkable feat," Kakuzu emphasized. "It means that even without manual practice, a Pokémon's body will automatically simulate the process until it becomes proficient."
"I see…"
Dak nodded, understanding why they had emphasized this point.
Humans had limitations—chakra reserves, hand sign speed, and so on. But for Pokémon, these limitations either didn't exist or were far less restrictive. Their natural talent set their baseline well above the average ninja.
"Place this book in the Pokémon Alliance library," Madara instructed, handing Dak the manual. Then, with a serious expression, he continued, "Now, let's talk about the disciple matter."
Over the years, the Akatsuki hadn't been as peaceful as it seemed.
"Power struggles have occurred more than once," Madara admitted.
"That's partly my fault. We underestimated how much chaos could arise from a simple announcement."
"To claim the Akatsuki leader position, there were even cases of infighting and betrayal."
"I don't know how long you plan to stay as the Alliance Leader, but before you announce your intention to step down, you'd better train some disciples. That will minimize the impact of any future power struggles."
