She Belongs To The Devil

Chapter 724: Cousin-Brother-In-Law

Damien was listening to the gossip happening on the garden. And a large share of people was talking about him and him only.

He was currently being occupied by a curious priest who wished to gain knowledge about Heaven and Hell from the demon. He was asking question after question to Damien, all while maintaining some distance as though he didn't want to sin by touching a demon.

And Damien was pretending to be listening to him. But he was feeling agitated now. He had hoped that he could continue his talk with Ariel, but the priest wasn't leaving him alone.

All the Royals from Wyverndale had left his side since they were all bored by the nonstop yapping of the priest.

"So, have you ever had the chance to see God? If you do, then will you tell him that I am his great devotee?"

Damien's patience was at the limit by now. So he gave an icy glare to the Priest and coldly said, "If God gets your message through me then you will suffer in Hell till eternity. Do you wish that for your soul?"

Needless to say, the Priest disappeared from there within a matter of a few seconds.

Damien took a sigh of relief after that priest finally left his side. And before someone else decided to come along and treat him like a 'Guide to Hell', he scurried away to find his friends.

He saw Ariel standing with Niylah and talking with some of the ministers. He wanted to go there.

However, Zach caught up with him before he could reach where Ariel was.

"Hey, did you two make up?" Zach asked Damien as he walked side by side.

Damien sighed and ruffled his hair. After seeing how jealous she was in the morning, he had actually expected Ariel to give him an answer or at least some definite hint by now.

However, nothing of such sort had happened yet. So he shrugged and answered, "Well, she isn't angry with me anymore."

Zach gave a nod and expectantly looked at Damien.

But when Damien didn't say anything more, he asked what he wanted to know, "So… are you going to be my cousin… in-law?" He furrowed his brows and scratched his head in confusion. And he corrected himself, "No, brother-in-law? Wait… Is it brother-in-law? Ugh! Whatever! You know what I mean." Experience new tales on empire

Damien wished that Ariel would also show Zach's enthusiasm level. He smiled at the human fluff-ball and said, "I don't know yet. But I hope to be your cousin-brother-in-law soon."

Zach gave a sly smile to Damien as if he just thought of a hundred ways to taunt Damien if he ever started to live in Wyverndale after marrying his cousin.

The two of them continued to walk towards Ariel and Niylah. However, before they could reach there, it was announced that the garden party was concluded.

Slowly, all the dignitaries began to greet the Royals and leave the garden.

And in the end, the only ones who were still standing in the garden were the Royals and the maids and servants of the castle.

Kenneth gathered his friends and then told them, "As we discussed in the morning, the barbeque will start soon. Until then, why don't we entertain ourselves? Feel free to walk around or chat or whatever you feel like doing."

The Princes and Princesses agreed to Kenneth.

Zach looked at Damien and pointed his brows at Ariel, suggesting he take the chance to talk to her.

However, Kenneth came to Damien and then asked, "Damien, can I have some words with you?"

Damien was sure that he was going to get an earful from Kenneth for hurting Grace and him. He hadn't apologized for his actions yet. So he gave a nod to Kenneth and followed him.

Kenneth led Damien towards the corner of the castle that faced the river down below the cliff. And as he did so, he showed his genuine concern towards Damien, "How do you feel now? I hope you didn't face difficulty when you were surrounded by a lot of humans."

Damien looked at Kenneth for quite some time, wondering if Kenneth was genuinely worried or if that was just a calm before the storm.

He didn't catch the red aura from him, not even a hint of it. So he turned to look ahead on the path and answered, "I feel fine. And I didn't face any difficulty at the party, even when I smelled human blood at one point. I guess it's all thanks to your blood that my hunger didn't take over my body. I guess I was already full."

Kenneth didn't need to see the aura being emitted by Damien to see the self-loathing. So he tried to cheer Damien up by trying to relate to Damien.

"I know how it's like to be suddenly thrown into the vampire world. Your normal life suddenly disappears once you get the taste of that sweet metallic taste. You feel like you are living with a monster that always craves human blood. And in your hunger, you don't care who you are with, you just desire their blood."

Damien felt as if Kenneth stole the words from his mind. It was exactly how he was feeling at the moment.

Damien also had a lot of questions that he believed only Kenneth could answer.

But he wasn't sure if Kenneth would be up for answering his queries. So instead, he apologized for the morning thinking Kenneth was making Damien walk with him because he was seeking a formal apology.

"I sincerely apologize for hurting your cousin. And also for feeding on you. As you said, I didn't have control over myself. Else, I would have never…"

However, Kenneth shook his head and replied calmly, "You don't have to apologize. It's in our nature to attack humans and drink their blood. But we can always learn to control that monstrous side of ours."

"I believe you've learned to do that?" Damien raised his brows and looked at Kenneth.

And Kenneth agreed, "Yes. It took me years and years of practice to be able to control myself."

He then glanced at Damien and asked, "If you want to learn how, then I can teach you."
