Waiter from Nowhere

Chapter 36: Shadow's Embrace

The shadow's voice continued to whisper in his mind, feeding on his doubt, on his guilt. The more Jay listened, the more the darkness inside him seemed to grow stronger. It was as though he had become a beacon for it, calling it forth with every passing moment.

"Give in," the demon's voice coaxed. "Embrace the darkness completely. Let it consume you. You will be free. You will be the ruler of this world, not its destroyer."

Jay's heart twisted with the temptation. The darkness offered him power—power beyond measure. He could reshape the world, bend it to his will. All he had to do was give in. All he had to do was let go of the light.

But something inside him refused. Despite everything, despite the devastation and the overwhelming pressure of the darkness, Jay held onto the last shred of light within him.

"I won't give in," he whispered to himself, his voice shaky but determined. "I will fight."

But even as he spoke those words, the power of the darkness surged, overwhelming him, filling him with a burning desire to end it all. The light and darkness within him clashed violently, creating a rift in the fabric of the world.
