Waiter from Nowhere

Chapter 35: Fall of Humanity

The first signs of chaos spread quickly, as if the very foundation of the world had cracked open. Cities burned as strange creatures—wrought from the shadows—emerged from the ground, their eyes glowing with an unnatural hunger. The air itself seemed to warp, distorting everything it touched, pulling reality into disarray.

Jay could feel the destruction spreading, and yet he stood at its epicenter, powerless to stop it. The power that surged within him—the light and darkness that now formed the core of his being—was too much to control. It had been too long since he had been in touch with his humanity, too long since he had felt the warmth of connection. Now, all he had was the void, and the storm it brought.

As cities crumbled and civilizations fell, Jay could only watch in horror. The humans, the races, the kingdoms he had once known—were they all doomed to destruction? Was this the price of immortality? Was this his fault?

A bitter laugh escaped his lips as he realized the truth: There was no hope for the world. Not anymore.

In his mind, the demon's voice echoed, mocking him. You can't stop it, Jay. You never could.
