Chapter 400: Chapter 400: Look, the Island Moves!
Kushina continued her ventures at sea, her actions carefully controlled. It was essential to keep the situation simmering rather than boiling over.
"Hmm, not bad," Shinki remarked, scanning the intelligence report. A smirk crept across his face. "This kid is handling things well, and her 'dog-headed military advisor' is proving effective."
Under the meticulous guidance of Kurama, Kushina's revenge progressed like a slow boil. The Cloud and Mist Villages suspected only each other, entirely unaware of a third party orchestrating the chaos.
"Aren't you worried about something happening to Kushina?" Pakura asked, placing her hands on her hips. She knew the Kushina back in Konoha was merely a shadow clone, a clever deception that allowed her to act freely.
Shinki shrugged, smiling calmly. "What's there to worry about? As long as she sinks the ships and leaves no survivors, neither the Cloud nor the Mist Villages can gather any real intelligence. They'll be left blaming each other."
Pakura raised an eyebrow. "But why is the Cloud Village taking heavier losses than the Mist Village?"
Shinki chuckled, leaning back in his chair. "That's part of the strategy. More attacks on Cloud ships will make them think the Mist Village is striking to assert dominance under Yagura's new leadership. And when Mist ships start to take losses, they'll assume it's retaliation from the Cloud Village."
Pakura frowned. "You're really manipulating both sides into fighting each other?"
Shinki grinned. "That's the plan. Both sides are too cautious to start a full-scale war now. At most, there will be skirmishes, which suits us just fine."
Pakura sighed. "You people are really something else."
Back at sea, Kushina perched on Jinya's head, staring at the horizon with a pout.
"Big Fox, this isn't working! The Cloud and Mist Villages are just retaliating against each other—they're not fighting outright. What can we do to escalate things?"
Kurama raised its head lazily in her mind. "You want revenge but are terrified of being exposed. How exactly do you expect me to help you with that?"
Kushina crossed her arms, frustrated. Suddenly, her sharp eyes caught something on the horizon.
"Wait, what's that? Is that… an island? But… it's moving?"
Jinya slowed down as Kushina pointed at what appeared to be a floating island. It was massive, its surface covered with rocks and dense forests, but something about it seemed off.
Kurama's voice cut in. "That's no island. It's a turtle. A gigantic turtle."
"What?! A turtle?" Kushina exclaimed.
Kurama confirmed, "Yes, and there are Cloud ninjas stationed on its back. This thing is the so-called Turtle Island, one of their closely guarded secrets."
The enormous turtle, far larger than even Jinya, floated lazily on the sea. Its immense shell, camouflaged with natural terrain, made it almost indistinguishable from a real island.
Kushina's curiosity ignited. "Big Fox, are you telling me there's a giant turtle this big, and it's hiding Cloud ninjas? That's insane!"
"Focus, Kushina," Kurama warned. "This isn't just any turtle. It's a mobile base, and the Cloud Village has been using it to protect their secrets. Don't get reckless."
At Kurama's suggestion, Jinya quickly swallowed Kushina to hide her presence and dived underwater.
On the turtle's back, a squad of Cloud ninjas patrolled the perimeter. One of them, sensing something amiss, scanned the sea with narrowed eyes.
"Something's out there," he muttered, but all he saw was open water.
The giant turtle shifted uneasily, its instincts warning it of a potential threat. Yet with no visible danger, the ninjas dismissed it as a false alarm.
Unbeknownst to them, their most guarded secret had just been discovered by Kushina.
Back at the Anbu headquarters, Shinki read through the latest intelligence, his amusement growing.
"Turtle Island, huh? Now that's interesting," he mused aloud.
Pakura, standing nearby, raised an eyebrow. "What's so special about it?"
"It's one of the Cloud Village's best-kept secrets. They use it as a hidden base and a training ground for their jinchuriki."
"Wait… does Kushina know about this?"
Shinki smirked. "She will soon enough."
Back at sea, Kushina's excitement was palpable. "Big Fox, we're going to find a way onto that turtle! If there are Cloud ninjas there, it's got to be important."
Kurama sighed. "You do realize this will put you dangerously close to being exposed, right?"
"So what? We'll just make sure we're careful. And besides, it's not every day you see a giant turtle carrying an island on its back!"
Jinya growled in agreement, already diving toward the turtle's shadow. The game was far from over, and Kushina's revenge was only just beginning.
