Chapter 405: Chapter 405: Eight-Tails - Since I Can't Beat Them, I Choose to Join
Dodai's demeanor turned serious as he spoke, "Raikage, based on observations and deductions, Turtle-Island was torn apart by a powerful force. The traces of blood and flesh on certain areas suggest a destructive force very similar to the Tailed Beast Ball."
This was just Dodai's speculation. He had personally witnessed the rampage of a Tailed Beast and the catastrophic destruction caused by the explosion of a Tailed Beast Ball, leading him to this conclusion.
"Tailed Beast Ball? Could this be the work of the Mist Village?" The Third Raikage, who had been leaning back, sat upright.
Dodai shook his head with a bitter smile. "I can't say for certain. It's only a personal hypothesis. As for the Mist Village's Jinchūriki situation..."
The Six-Tails had only recently been sealed, and its Jinchūriki was in a precarious state, half-dead at best. It was rumored that the Mist Village was actively seeking a new Jinchūriki.
But apart from a Tailed Beast Ball, what other force could completely obliterate Turtle-Island? It seemed unreasonable to suggest otherwise.
"What else can you say?" The Third Raikage was momentarily speechless. "Forget it. Continue gathering intelligence and try to uncover the truth."
The Mist Village's Jinchūriki were either too inexperienced or too weak to pull off such an attack. Expecting them to destroy Turtle-Island seemed far-fetched. Could another village have been responsible? It was unlikely.
Jinchūriki couldn't easily use the Tailed Beast Ball, with one notable exception—Konoha's Nine-Tails. The Third Raikage's mind began to race.
"Dodai, contact Konoha immediately and inquire about Killer Bee's situation. Also, send someone to find out what Konoha's Nine-Tails Jinchūriki has been up to."
Other Jinchūriki might struggle with such feats, but the Nine-Tails Jinchūriki of Konoha was a perfect Jinchūriki—someone capable of fully utilizing their Tailed Beast's power. The Mist Village's Jinchūriki might be able to wear a Tailed Beast's chakra cloak, but it wouldn't be enough to wreak such devastation.
If a force strong enough to annihilate Turtle-Island existed, the Cloud Village would have already researched it thoroughly.
The Third Raikage's suspicions were not unfounded. Beyond the perfect Jinchūriki's capabilities, there was Kushina's identity. The fall of the Uzumaki Clan had been largely orchestrated by the Cloud Village, making it conceivable, if unlikely, that Kushina harbored a desire for revenge.
"Yes, Raikage," Dodai responded before leaving to carry out the orders.
Unbeknownst to Kushina, the Third Raikage's suspicion was based purely on speculation yet it was spot on.
Meanwhile, Killer Bee, free from constraints and influences, was fully embracing his true nature. He spent most of his time either training or composing rap verses, leaving the Eight-Tails in a constant state of torment.
For the sealed Eight-Tails, Killer Bee's endless rapping was pure agony. If suicide were an option for a Tailed Beast, the Eight-Tails would have eagerly taken it.
"I was wrong," Eight-Tails lamented internally. "I shouldn't have ever let the Tailed Beasts run wild!"
Compared to Killer Bee, the Eight-Tails' previous Jinchūriki had been a saint. But Killer Bee was oblivious to its complaints, his enthusiasm only growing as he sensed the Eight-Tails' frustration.
As the saying goes, "If you can't beat them, join them." The Eight-Tails began to shift its perspective. Over time, it found Killer Bee's relentless rapping slightly less unbearable—perhaps even tolerable.
By the riverbank, Killer Bee was grilling fish while rapping. Shinki approached silently, standing beside him. Killer Bee remained unfazed.
"Bee, someone is here," Eight-Tails urged.
"Oh, A-Ba, I know. Thanks!" Killer Bee responded casually, catching Eight-Tails off guard. It had only meant to remind him, not expecting gratitude.
"You're a good kid, so I'll let this one slide," Eight-Tails muttered.
After observing Killer Bee for a moment, Shinki remarked, "You seem to be doing fine."
Killer Bee beamed. "Big bro! A-Ba's starting to accept me! That makes me so happy!"
"Glad to hear it," Shinki replied, though his expression suggested otherwise. If anything, Eight-Tails probably wanted to end it all, but being sealed meant it had no choice but to endure Killer Bee's verbal onslaught.
"Raikage sent a letter asking about your condition. Since you seem fine, I'll let him know," Shinki continued before disappearing in a flash. He had no intention of letting Killer Bee perform his newest rap.
The Cloud Village soon received Konoha's response confirming Killer Bee's good condition. As for Kushina, any investigation into her activities would take more time.
Meanwhile, tensions between the Cloud and Mist Villages escalated in the contested waters. The Mist Village had deployed additional forces, prompting the Cloud Village to do the same. Both sides braced for confrontation, though neither anticipated a full-scale war.
The Third Raikage believed it was merely posturing and friction. However, he failed to consider Yagura's unorthodox strategies. The Mist Village's troublemakers, all handpicked by Yagura, were fully capable of turning minor disputes into major conflicts—especially if the volatile Kaguya Clan got involved.
Should the Kaguya Clan make an appearance, even minor skirmishes could escalate into large-scale battles.
