Chapter 128: Chapter 126: A Piece of Art

Dan assessed the effect of the [ReflexGuard-seal] and said, "Magnificent."

Ryu raised the chakra efficiency to the next level by generating a barrier only in the smallest area of impact possible.

Yuki was dumbfounded. In all her life, she had seen many barriers but had never encountered one like the one Ryu has created. It was far too brilliant just by looking at it.

Ryu said, "Now that we have put new, improved barrier seals and the [Migraine seal] around the premise, we can make some profits. But I don't want to give them insight into this seal; let them try and waste years trying to know how the seal works. We will just sell the copy of the seal."

Yuki exclaimed at the mention of the [Migraine Seal] and asked, "Migraine Seal? What is that?"

Dan replied and said, "Ryu created a new seal to give migraines to people who may be trying to spy on us."

Yuki's surprise reaches new heights hearing that. She had never heard about any seal similar to the [Migraine Seal]. She wondered how Ryu was able to create it, as she understood one thing about it, even though she was not a fuinjutsu expert: that is, this seal interferes with the human brain somehow.

Yuki asked Dan, "Why the hell are you teaching Ryu dangerous stuff so soon? He is still a child. If others learn of this, he could be in grave danger."

Dan said, "I initially started with the basics because Ryu pestered me about it. Ryu took the basics very fast and deep and turned them upside down."

He told her, "My initial estimates for his talent in Fuinjutsu were way off. The speed at which he is learning and developing new fuinjutsu, he will surpass any veteran grandmaster even before he is out of academia."

Dan continued, "As predicted, Ryu's superb memory is the key to his remarkable achievements."

Yuki nodded and said, "Yes, and this [Mind Palace] of his! I had never expected he was hiding something like this. It was an out-of-this-world experience for me!"

Ryu thought, "Well, this is not entirely unique to me. Every jinchuriki also has something similar to my mind palace."

Dan asked Yuki, "Would you accompany me to Hiruzen's office to register these two new barrier seals.?"

Yuki asked, "Just two? What about the [Migraine seal]?."

Dan said, "That one we are going to keep to ourselves for security reasons."

Yuki understood that it was for their defensive barriers and any potential spying. If they give away this seal, it will be exposed and will have no meaning.

Yuki nodded and said, "OK, I will go with you. Besides, I also want to see Hiruzen and thank him for all the things he has been doing for Ryu's sake."

She gave some more books to Ryu and informed him that she would return in a few days, asking him to read this batch of books by then. She said goodbye, and both of them left the room, leaving Ryu to continue studying.

Someplace else, one ANBU ninja can be seen looking at the Hokage's office from a nearby tree. He then vanished and saw shifts inside Hokage's office. The ANBU appeared in front of Hiruzen.

The ANBU codenamed Boar replied, "Lord Hokage, there has been strange activity around the perimeter of the Hamura residence."

Hiruzen asked, "Strange activity? Explain in detail what you observed."

The ANBU codenamed Boar told him, "I, as well as every other operative supposed to look after this security detail, have severe headaches and dizziness just by looking at the direction of that particular house."

Hiruzen was surprised by this. He thought, "Headaches just by looking at their house. Is this some kind of defence mechanism or anti-spying arrangement at work?"

Pondering for a while, he wondered, "Is this some kind of genjutsu?"

"No. If this was a genjutsu, then ANBU would have realised. There is a sensor among them. If it's not genjutsu, then what is it?

Hiruzen wondered, "Effects like this are unheard of. Is this a brand-new seal that Ryu and Dan developed, or a Ninjutsu?"

Boar then said, "Dan Hamura and Dr. Yuki Sarutobi are on their way here. So I came to ask you to ask them regarding..."

As he was contemplating what was going on with Dan's house, a knock was heard on the door. Hiruzen asked who it was. The receptionist, without opening the door, told him that Dan Hamura and Dr. Yuki Sarutobi are there to see him.

Hiruzen thought, "Speak of the devil. Just perfect. I can ask them directly."

He told the receptionist to send them in a minute and then instructed the ANBU codenamed Boar, "You can leave. I will personally enquire about this strange phenomenon with Dan regarding the unusual effects you and your team are experiencing."

As Dan and Yuki entered the room, Boar disappeared. Hiruzen looked at them in surprise and remarked, "Yuki, Dan, both of you together—that is unexpected."

"Hiruzen," Dan said,

Hiruzen asked, "So, to what do I owe the pleasure?"

Yuki spoke first. "I am here to thank you for your help regarding Ryu," she said.

"Just for that?" Hiruzen asked.

She replied, "Actually, I am here to accompany Dan."

Hiruzen looked at Dan.

Dan sighed and said, "I am here to report and register two new seals with the Fuinjutsu Council."

Hiruzen was really surprised by this sudden revelation. Just a few weeks ago, Dan registered a new seal, and now again he came with two.

Hiruzen jokingly asked, "Have you found any ancient treasure trove of Fuinjutsu lately?"

Dan laughed and said, "Maybe."

Hiruzen asked, "What kind of seal did he bring this time?"

Dan replied, "Both are barrier seals."

Hiruzen remarked, "A barrier seal, huh?"

"You will know its effects when you try for yourself. I must tell you, you are in for a surprise," Dan said, hinting at its extraordinary defensive capabilities.

"Fine, let's go someplace else." Hiruzen believed Dan; after all, Dan was a much better Fuinjutsu grandmaster than he was.

Hiruzen suggested testing the seal and led them to an indoor fighting arena, the traditional site for training and Chunin exams, located in the neighbouring building.

"Ox," Hiruzen spoke, and just then an ANBU flickered in front of him.

"I want to test this barrier seal. When I deploy this barrier, attack me." Hiruzen said to him

Ox nodded in agreement and said, 'Yes, Lord Hokage, I understand.'

Dan interjected, "I should mention in advance that this barrier is unidirectional and only affects Ninjutsu and living beings. Non-living objects, such as shuriken, will simply pass through the barrier."

Hiruzen looked at Dan and wondered, "That's new. Let's test what more is new with this seal."

Hiruzen himself deployed the barrier with a few strokes of hand seals and tested the first barrier. Nothing similar to a barrier appeared, making Ox a little hesitant to attack someone he is supposed to protect.

Hiruzen understood his confusion and proceeded to tell him, "Attack me with a C-Rank Ninjutsu."

Ox nodded, and with a few hand seals, he attacked using a midrange lightning jutsu in the direction of Hiruzen.

Just when the jutsu was nearing Hiruzen, a translucent wall of chakra appeared and blocked the jutsu. Hiruzen contemplated the effects, timing, and chakra consumption of the barrier.

After he was done with the calculations in his mind, he looked at Dan and said, "You improved the chakra usage by turning off the barrier when it was not blocking anything. Right"

Dan nodded in agreement, prompting Hiruzen to remark, "However, in doing so, you've brought about a new limitation. This seal relies on a presence detection mechanism, correct?"

Dan nodded again.

Hiruzen said, "It will not block what it cannot detect. That is why it cannot block any non-living things and things devoid of chakra."

Dan replied, "Yes, a few drawbacks, maybe. But it may be advantageous in some situations."

Hiruzen looked at Dan and said, "Let's test the next one also."

Dan threw the scroll to Hiruzen, and he caught it. But when he opened it, his eyes widened with shock. The sheer complexity and design of this new seal was something to marvel at. And as a veteran grandmaster himself, he could tell that this seal was a piece of art.

Amazed by the complexity and design of the new seal, he came back to his senses, picked up his almost dropped jaw, and proceeded to activate the barrier seal with a couple of hand seals.

Dan told him, "You can put the scroll back in your pockets and walk around as it is somewhat automatic after active. This barrier is also omnidirectional, and this one can block non-living things too if you see them coming. As it is linked with the eyes of the caster."

Hiruzen nodded and proceeded to unfold the scroll and keep it in his pocket. He looked at Ox and said, "Ok, throw everything you got at me."

Ox proceeded to throw many lightning bolts and kunai towards Hiruzen, and it blocked everything with a cascade of hexagonal shields, some connected to each other and some independent, but all appeared right where the attack landed just before a second.
