The battle between Cynthia and Karpen—a 6-on-6 Pokémon showdown—was nothing short of spectacular.

However, Cynthia was still too young.

Even though she had far surpassed others of her age, she was still slightly outmatched by Karpen, a Trainer with nearly 50 years of experience on this path.

Cynthia's Gastrodon was incredibly strong. After defeating Karpen's Poliwrath, it also bested his Breloom. However, after two consecutive defeats, Karpen quickly devised a counter-strategy.

He sent out his Toxicroak, a Poison- and Fighting-type Pokémon, to face Gastrodon. With just one shot of Venoshock, Toxicroak turned the muddy terrain created by Gastrodon into a poison swamp.

This completely negated Gastrodon's home-field advantage.

With both Gastrodon and its three Substitutes heavily poisoned, they were quickly picked off one by one by Toxicroak.

Apart from her Garchomp, Gastrodon was clearly one of Cynthia's strongest Pokémon. The Spiritomb and Milotic she sent out next hadn't fully matured yet and ended up being consecutively defeated by Toxicroak.

At this point, Cynthia sent out her second-strongest Pokémon, Lucario.

Unsurprisingly, after enduring three grueling battles, Toxicroak was no match for Lucario and was defeated.

Lucario lived up to its title as Cynthia's second ace. Its innate talent and potential rivaled that of Gastrodon.

Its aura abilities were exceptional, covering the entire battlefield.

Moreover, it was a Pokémon capable of multitasking to a remarkable degree. Lucario could fire Aura Sphere from both hands simultaneously while enhancing them with Psychic and Blaze Kick for additional power.

Under its control, the Aura Spheres, each the size of a soccer ball, behaved like homing missiles capable of freely maneuvering mid-air.

Using this multi-layered technique, Lucario defeated both Toxicroak and Blaziken before finally falling to Karpen's Medicham in a grueling match.

Cynthia's ace, Garchomp, then took the stage. Its appearance left the audience stunned, as Cynthia had never publicly showcased this pseudo-legendary Pokémon before.

Seeing her unleash a pseudo-legendary as her final Pokémon, the crowd unanimously concluded that Garchomp was her trump card.

Garchomp lived up to expectations, effortlessly defeating Karpen's Medicham. Finally, Karpen sent out his own ace: Gallade.

During the initial stages of their battle, Cynthia's overwhelmingly strong Garchomp forced Gallade into a corner, but in the latter half of the match, with no other options left, Karpen unveiled a new power he and Gallade had mastered.

Mega Evolution.

In Sato's eyes, Mega Gallade's strength was simply absurd. Its already masterful psychic abilities became even more formidable after Mega Evolution.

Using Teleport with unparalleled precision, Mega Gallade combined it with a series of devastating Fighting-type moves. Its offense and defense were unmatched, and its speed made it nearly untouchable.

From the moment Gallade Mega Evolved, Sato watched as Garchomp was relentlessly battered.

If not for Garchomp's incredibly tough hide, any other Pokémon in its place would likely have fallen much sooner.

Sato could clearly see the gap between them. Whether in level or battle experience, Cynthia's Garchomp lagged behind Karpen's Mega Gallade.

This disparity stemmed from the years of accumulated experience Karpen had over Cynthia—a gap that couldn't be bridged overnight. Even without Mega Evolution, Sato had no doubt that Gallade would have ultimately won the battle.

Although Cynthia lost this challenge, no one dared underestimate this blonde Trainer from Sinnoh. At just 15/16 years old, she had already forced Karpen, a Tower Master, to fight with all his strength.

Cynthia was like a rising star, destined to shine brightly in the turbulent era to come. After this match, ripples spread throughout LaRousse City.

Many powerful organizations and wealthy conglomerates began sending representatives to approach the young blonde.

However, an even more shocking revelation soon surfaced.

This teenage blonde girl was actually a direct heir to the Temple of Sinnoh, a superpower in the Sinnoh region. Upon hearing this, all the organizations and conglomerates immediately withdrew their efforts, unwilling to cross such a powerful force.

After all, while the Sinnoh region appeared to be under the Alliance's governance, insiders knew the Temple was its true ruler.

Just the fact that the Temple served and was blessed by Arceus, the creator, was enough to strike despair into the hearts of many.

Regardless, Cynthia's influence left an indelible mark. For many, this night in LaRousse City was destined to be sleepless.

After witnessing the epic showdown between Cynthia and Karpen, Sato felt a stirring in his heart that refused to settle.

From watching this Pokémon battle on the screen, he gained a clearer understanding of the gap between himself and these top-tier Trainers.

If he was just a rookie who had barely completed basic training, then Cynthia and Karpen were already generals—just one step away from becoming marshals.

As soon as the match ended, Sato left the Pokémon Center and, like many other Trainers, made his way quickly toward the Battle Tower.

However, as he neared the entrance, a convoy of vehicles suddenly arrived behind him, speeding toward the same destination. Seeing this, Sato and other pedestrians quickly moved aside.

Thankfully, the vehicles came to a stop 10 meters from the entrance. As soon as they parked, people began pouring out eagerly. Judging by their attire and equipment, they were clearly reporters from various major news outlets.

They seemed to have arrived just in time, for as they swarmed out of their vehicles, a blonde girl emerged gracefully from the Battle Tower entrance.

This girl, now the center of attention, was none other than Cynthia. The reporters had obviously gathered to interview this legendary young Trainer.

"Don't be discouraged," Sato muttered to himself as he stood under a streetlamp, watching the blonde girl being showered with admiration from afar.

"I've only been a Trainer for a short time. There's still a long road ahead. One day, I'll stand in that same spotlight and face off against the strongest. I'll battle you all one day, and I'll win."

With his heart now calm, Sato lifted his head, looking toward the imposing Battle Tower ahead. Straightening his posture, he strode confidently toward the entrance.
